UA-cam currently has a problem with scammer bot comments appearing on countless amounts of channels, especially those in the investing and finance niche.
And unfortunately, we've been the target of these scammers too. So, I decided to do some investigating and confront my scammers/imposters face-to-face.

UA-cam can detect 2 seconds of a Led Zeppelin song playing on a car passing by in the background but can't weed out these obvious bots
.
So true 😂😅
UA-cam is just that ridiculous most of the time
Just imagine if they spent some of that time demonetizing and shutting down channels for random reason into making this platform a little bit better
Who even falls for these very obvious scams??
@@unnamed3893 Oh you'd be surprised how many people actually do
James: "Hi is this James?"
"Yes, is me." they replied in strong west african accent lol
He was surprised his scam actually worked.
As a west African. I can fully confirm that the first speaker has a straight up Nigerian accent
@@samdacosta4676 as a Nigerian i can attest to your assertion
Maybe he's african _and_ his name is James. Technically, he might not be lying lol
That guy is a Nigeria guy, there are all over
these bots have been all over UA-cam even recently. I'm glad someone's had the courage to bite the bullet and investigate
Thank you for being the only youtube creator who I've ever seen acknowledge and take this issue this seriously that you make a whole video investigating it firsthand yourself
We've been in touch with UA-cam for 3 months over this. We even provided technical solutions on how this problem can be solved, yet it's not something high on @UA-cam's priority list.
Wow alux is awesome commeting on other channels wow !!
they say that the hiring process in Google/UA-cam for software engineers is very competitive and yet not one of them can find a solution to this current problem. tsk
wow lol wtf is their problem?
@@xyckriz I believe they actually can, but the managers or leaders doesn't have this on their priority list, thy rather find bether ways to put ads, block ad-blocks or monetize in some way. If UA-cam did a solution to his, they would probably monetize on it :/
horrible
I think UA-cam should come up with a feature to "Remove All Comments by this User". It'll give us leverage by simply removing all their comments at once.
You can hide a users comments. Doesnt that work?
@@jerrymiemarcus It does, but it's whack-a-mole because they use so many accounts.

aree bhai aap idhar hahaha!!
Facebook is just as bad too! I report them all the time and Facebook says “this did not go against the community guidelines.” It’s ridiculous! Yet people get violated for saying the weirdest things!
I guarantee if these social sites could do this or maybe they can and REALLY took these bots and all down even people like this channel would lose in a variety of ways which can affect money, etc.
Let's see if something like this would ever happen
Facebook has connections to the deep web. So of course it's just as bad! Probably worse as a result!
@@marlak4203 Honestly, at this point I'm starting to think that UA-cam and Facebook are invested in these scams themselves.
@@kebman yes. I think so too.
I swear to god there are more bots on Twitter than actual users.
If someone could multiply money like that, they would just do it with their own money, instead of eating time convincing others to send money.
If they have to say: "It's not a scam, I guarantee you!" It is definitely a scam.

I also get emails from africans who claim that i have family in africa that died and left behind a large fortune, and that i should send them 500 dollar
so that they can arrange the money transfer. And that happens 2-3x a year, so i never knew that i had so much rich family there, and that they all died
in the same year every year. 😂
If someone knows a way of making money. He won’t spend his time trying to tell the world how to make money. He’s definitely going to spend most of his time making money. Unless you are his way of making money.

I get at least one a day, and I'm rarely commenting on financial channel videos.
I had been meaning to ask you why you always put those dots and slashes between every letter in a word. I figured you had somehow damaged your keyboard. :)
They usually put it because they know that the creator can easily ban that word (in this context "whatsapp" ) and get rid of their comments forever so they keep using new variations of the word by adding in dots

UA-cam itself is a scam, honestly. Proof: ads. :)
How's generating income from ads by providing a service a scam?
@@lexluthor9509 You must have a Premium version then. XD
UA-cam and its ads literally caused me to have temper issues - Bill Burr style. Imagine refreshing 16 ads before the video even starts (and yes, I truly counted them)!! And then (without warning) having 2 unskippable ads every 5 minutes of the video. I call scam, my friend.
I would understand having ads on the side of the screen, if it gets the money going. But this is overload. You have to know when you're being used.
@@petrastein2531
It isn’t a secret that YT intentionally makes ads irritating to persuade watchers to subscribe to premium membership.
Their strategy was largely aimed at those who use YT to listen to music and wanted to make it too frustrating to listen too by having ads at the beginning and end of the videos to push people to subscribe.
They also don’t allow background play on phones unless you subscribe.
Essentially they create an issue and you have to pay to fix it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future they make creators pay to upload.
@@petrastein2531 use project Vanced their YT & their browser brave.

If this will make us any money, why does the youtuber doesn't create a video about it.
Why does the youtuber do not promote them in any of their videos.
Hehehe
Why doesn't UA-cam ever do anything about it? Why are they always silent when people report these scammers?
I wish all content creators would upload this sort of video, maybe a couple times a month. We all need to be warned. I'm fed up with seeing bots on all my favorite channels. I appreciate you doing this 💙

Sucks that you have to take things into your own hands instead of YT fixing their own platform.

It made for an interesting video though.

Honestly your content is incredible, balanced and neutral . I am glad I
stumbled into your channel
That's wild...even on the phone they keep up the charade. Great video James! Really hope it draws more attention to this issue from UA-cam, and other platforms for that matter.
Hey dude , I'm your subscriber , thank you for making amazing videos .
I think you should put a 2 sec warning video like how they show warning videos for tobacco in movies... It would help future subscribers in saving themself from this scammers.
And their voices are so unconvincing lol
How are you doing bagel.
You think they give a fuck?
UA-cam is too busy censoring content creators than in going after scammers. Tells you what UA-cam values.
Exactly.
Absolutely true. Also they are going after opinions and language they 'don't like' in comment sections - their priorities are back-to-front.
Yeah, they don't "like" anti Semitism, racism, pro-Nazi propaganda, Holocaust denial, and other toxic filth. I'm glad that they've pretty much wiped all that muck off their platform. I enjoy seeing the complaints of the rats and scumbags who feel their 'freedom of speech" is being taken away because they can't post pro-Hitler videos and anti Semitic conspiracy theories.
This guy James is going a great job of exposing the scammers -- it's necessary and important. I wish UA-cam would do more to get rid of them. But that other stuff doesn't just lead to people getting bilked of their money. it eats away at the foundation of our society and can lead -- as it has in the recent past -- to war, mass destruction, mass murder.
So write your "opinions" on a piece of cardboard and go sit on a busy street corner, and scream your "views" as loudly as you can. Bring a tin can -- if nobody puts money into, you can always use it as a toilet.
@@leezaslofsky4438 But it is not just the reprehensible they don't like, which is the point - it is opinions/ political sides/ firsthand reporting that is censored just because they disagree. Please take off your blinkers and stop being so self-righteous!

@LLN NYC hey bud I found one
thank you, just discovered this channel and watched 3 vids already. Yes, I got to much time, but your uploads help me get back on track again. Thank you so much, you are a wonderful person.
It scares me that scammers are so confident, even with their voice sounding nothing like James, they still confidently say that they are who they are.
lol for real
Ye, sociopaths are scary
Clearly Nigerian accents, but they will tell you that they are somewhere in the U.S
The thing is, there is technology that can make you look and sound like anyone. I don’t think the majority of scammers are using this yet, but as technology improves, count on it.
I think the events of 2020-2021 gave them confidence in people's foolishness. People don't think much nowadays, unfortunately.
If people simply followed the old wisdom, “if it’s too good to be true, it probably is” very few would actually get scammed.
You lose more money to spread than you do actually making losses these days xD (Bitcoin)

Like a certain programmer on the mql forums states:
"Trading is a hard way to make easy money"
(Mathtrader7 I think)
I live by the motto, If that person isn't willing to show the work and how they do it, they aren't someone you should trust
Common sense is a rarity these days due to way more factors then i could list.
"You give me thousand dollar, two day later I give you five thousand dollar" Anyone falling for that pitch deserves to be robbed. Actually, how could anyone that stupid have any money to begin with?
They’re often kids or mentally ill so don’t be so naive.
I am glad you took time out to talk about this big problem which is fast becoming an epidemic that needs to be spoken about by the owner of the channel... The FBI needs to get involved in this very disturbing trend they are looking for terrorists these scammers are the real terrorists and a global treat. These scammers are a real social problem. Thanks for letting us all know.
In my culture, "guru" meant a wise man, a teacher, a leader. It's sad to see people destroy that word.
Yeah, that’s the dictionary definition for all English speakers.
Lots of words are being destroyed nowadays. It's reality.
Thats good but now give me your money already
However in the digital era, Guru means a scammer!
Yep. This bastardization of the word "guru" really stems from a textbook case of cultural appropriation. That term encompasses a broad category of different acts which involve cherry-picking aspects of someone else's culture with the express purpose of "spicing up" one's own image, without respecting the culture they took it from. Mind you, not every act of using something that came from a different culture is cultural appropriation - it's more specifically when you are doing that with the intent of taking a little slice of the culture itself and using it to, again, spice up aspects of your own image. But if you are using the element from a different culture with the intent of using the thing itself and are willing to respect when people from the culture whose thing it is say it's socially inappropriate within the culture they came from, then it's not cultural appropriation.
I think this is the most pressing issue UA-cam has to work around currently. So many people are getting scammed
The only ´solution ´ they found was to disable comments on auto generated videos thus making it impossible for thousands of creators to interact with their fans
May be just educate yourself and learn not to reply on random messages. Also not giving money upfront to a person you don't even know.
@@sholmes_ttyy No shit Sherlock
I find these scammers amusing & frankly anyone who falls for them is going to get fleeced sooner or later so your efforts to save them are all for nothing. You're just sending them down the road to the next scam & unless you spend your life protecting them they're going to get taken sooner rather then later.
@@sholmes_ttyy I agree with you. Unfortunately so many people aren’t this informed when it comes to interacting with people on the internet. As a small creator myself, I’ve had to deal with trying to clear my name so many times just because my subscribers fell victim to some of these scams. It beats my imagination how and why they cannot be more discerning but I guess we (creators and UA-cam) also have a role to play in helping such people not get scammed.
Twitter basically eradicated bots overnight, Google and UA-cam could do that too, but that would be very damaging to their stock prices and engagement numbers would drop like a rock. Ad revenue would plummet as well. If a small independent developer can make software that does a good job of removing spam, ask yourself why a billion dollar company can't..... that's right, they won't. Seriously, bot detection is *not* that hard.
How would banning bots be damaging to stock prices exactly?
Yeah, why would it hurt stocks
@@purplehaze2358 Because of reputation. Twitter is now a clean ecosystem (in regards to bots anyway), and this attracts more customers, which in turn increases the stock price. The fact that UA-cam doesn't seem to get this, should tell you a lot about the people "leading" their operation.
@@kebman This comment is implying that _banning_ the bots would decrease their stockprice, not that ignoring their existence would.
Also, I wouldn't use Twitter as an example considering a certain Muskrat nuked its stock price from orbit.

UA-cam could easily put a stop this on their platform if they wanted to and so could other platforms. For reasons that are difficult to understand, UA-cam goes to a great deal of trouble to slowly destroy their own platform. They continue to chip away at what was once the best thing since sliced bread, making it worse and worse and worse, little by little. One month they screw with the algorithms, the next month they change the rules, the next month they do away with the thumbs down counter, then the monetization and on and on and on...
Do you understand the reasons why? It's such odd behavior... kinda like how Disney is famously eating its own tail.
@@pysq8It’s gone woke and is also taking instructions from the CIA.
@Minoozola your comment got deleted due to the sensitive nature of its accuracy. 😭
@@pysq8 It's not odd. They simply don't care. That is all. It's not pushing enough people off UA-cam. And if their customers _do_ move to other platforms, the problem is just as big there as well. So logic says that if it's equally bad everywhere, then they don't have to do anything about it. Besides UA-cam doesn't really like financial accounts anyway.

Anyone can fall for a stupid trick if they're in the right position or desperate enough, so it's really important to inform people! Thank you for being that guy.
Same here, started with MLM as I nearly got sucked into one pre-internet.
Here's some basic common sense:
If someone really did discover a working and reliable get-rich-quick-scheme and they wanted to make money from it, they would not need to sell it. If it worked, they would have money which they could just reinvest in their own scheme.

Sadly, it is nearly impossible to filter out all those bots, even with AI... at least if we still want quality comments from regular users
Actually no, there's a lot more that youtube could be doing. These accounts mass comment on a bunch of channels, they seem to have a clear pattern, they also get a bunch of bot likes that youtube could pattern for. UA-cam could be making a lot more than it's doing.
QUALITY COMMENTS LOL
Actually youtube's AI could see that you aren't watching the videos just commenting like a maniac which is kinda of a dead giveaway. And if people just do this just to get attention well that is also ok, if they get a ban that gives them some time to cool off :D
There shouldn’t be any reason to be allowed to post a phone number. Or symbols 10 times over. That kind of stuff can be banned with minimal impact on regular users

Eyyy James our guy is back. Enjoy the day out of the editing chamber
Nicely done, and clearly exposed. I do not envy you being misrepresented by these scammers. I always report any that is see in comments. Keep up the seriously good work.🖤🇨🇦
Imagine scammers putting these comments under this video.
Stay strong against these frauds, James. Full support from my side.
Dude, the video editing in your videos is top notch. Also, It's great to see the creators starting to take this issue into their own hands.
All content creators should occasionally post a warning just as you did. At some point, UA-camrs will become more savvy. United we stand. Very good information. Thank you!
4:20 dude just woke up in Nigeria in the middle of the night, it seems. Talking low so his mother don't wake up.
UA-cam has to pay attention eventually.
UA-cam would just remove the comments section
@@SirDella UA-cam doesn't care actually.
Big Tech is too busy censoring conservative content and anything that goes against left narrative to be focusing scammer.
@@teawrld5976 lol ok bud.
@@teawrld5976 good luck trying to sound smart with that profile picture. Get some sunlight
Even if this problem isn't completely solved, these videos still bring awareness to the issue so that less people will fall for these scams. Great job James.
I was amazed by how deep he dive in topics those likes and comments in scammers comments are really make me confused but now iam clear good work 👍
I’ve reported so many of these scammers comments. It’s usually painfully obvious which comments are scams, although on videos that attract young wantrepreneurs/dropshippers/etc it can be more difficult since they often talk like scammers. Also, videos on lottery winners/etc. “Lottery win manifesters” talk like scammers.
Just found your channel. Exceptional content with great scripts, and just top notch production value all around. Really, really great work, and this video is no exception.
