Finally! Thank you for your video on this. You are the first person to properly explain the difference in the part #GM9-Aux adapter and the part #AAI -gm9. There are way too many people pushing the use of the AAI-gm9, and it won't work unless you have a working external slave CD player or Cassette player SEPARATE from the radio unit itself. The par t#GM9-Aux adapter makes the radio unit "think" there is a separate CD player in use, and that allows the 3.5 jack input to play from an iphone, ipod, mp3 player, etc.. So many people think that just because the back of the radio unit has the 9 pin plug that the part #AAI -gm9 adapter will work, but it WON'T! If you only have the radio unit itself, and NOT a separate slave CD player or Cassette player (that has to be working) you MUST use the part #GM9-Aux. I hope this helps people avoid the confusion between the 2 different types of adapters.
Thanks for this, just bought it and installed it to the 9 pin in the back of the radio and could not understand why it did not work. Going to see if it works in the separate casette player.
PIE, the company that made these, discontinued selling them when they were purchased by iSimple. However, the same functionality of the GM9-AUX, can be found with the PXDX Factory Aux Input Interface (made by iSimple) and a PXHGM1 9-Pin harness (made by PAC). More details can be found here. replacementradios.com/1995-gm-radio-auxiliary-audio-input-adapter-sound-only-pin-pxdx-pxhgm1-p-972.html
Ok I have a similar unit in a 1999 Tahoe. But is has a cassette in main unit and a slave cd(otherwise looks like your radio), I wonder if the 2nd unit you have will work?Getting Sirius sat radio Stratus 7 for free.
