Thanks for reminding people that 1000€/$/£ is a lot of money! Most guys acting like 10k aint nothing and everyone could easy afford a Rolex.
Yo, watch collecting just starts making you into a crazy person. It isn't until I talk to non-watch-people that I remember "DANG £1,000 is a LOT of money!" Sooo many people would never splash that much on a watch - and rightfully so!
Well u can’t just buy on retail if u r not on 5he buyers list, and than u still have to wait forever. Just buy a breitling B.. they r beautiful and cheaper. I got the b09 for 5500 and I don’t need another one.
Yep, definitely for most people £/€/$1000 is a lot of money for a watch…
At one point I felt guilty spending £600 on a watch……I now own Pateks, APs and and Vacherons……watch collecting makes you essentially insane
@@rey_s90 I'm at the 600 Pound point right now... so, maybe not fully insane yet.
Luxury is a relative thing. The whole time I was in the military I only wore g-shocks and quartz field watches. Back then I thought spending $1000 for a watch was insane. Man, how things change.
I completely relate to this! (.... Well, I've never been in the military lol!) but I remember when even G Shock prices were unthinkable for me! $50 was a big purchase!
G-Shocks are still pretty crazy if you think about the features and durability! They all have a chronograph, perpetual calendar, hourly chime, 200m water resistance, are worn by Navy SEALS, have been dropped out of helicopters...
And that's not including the models that are solar powered and set themselves by radio! Anything beyond a G-Shock purely for luxury and aesthetics.
To be honest any omega or iwc or other watches from early 2000s or 2010s you can get great examples for half the cost of modern equivalent. That's my tip
IWC!!! HOW DID I NOT INCLUDE THEM?!
@@BrittPearceWatches I guess they're not that popular... my Mark XVI was only £2500 last year... stuff like that is what I look for
Def if you can get them used, not IWC today with their price hikes!
Not showing Longines is a shame...
I purchased a few weeks ago a Hydorconquest in 43mm. I love the watch, it is my daily driver. For $2025 USD, I think it is a great value for the money and it should last me a lifetime. I'm 71yo so that should not be a problem.
BIG SWING AND A MISS FROM GRINGA! I will be talking to the Gringa HQ quality control because you are absolutely right!
Literally came to say the same, such a steal for the prices they charge.
Good shout ,they have the history as well 👍
Just bought a Zulu time for my father, it appears (and could well be) to be a more refined product than my own BB GMT
It's a topic that garners a lot of interest, especially among enthusiasts. But considering their hefty price tags, it's essential to weigh the value proposition and explore investment strategies tailored to such assets.
I've always been intrigued by luxury watches, but I wonder if the price justifies the investment. With the volatility in the market, it's challenging to gauge their long-term value.
I've dabbled in luxury watch collecting, and while they can hold value, it's not always guaranteed. Factors like brand reputation, limited editions, and craftsmanship play a significant role
But there's certainly risk involved.
Investing in luxury watches can indeed be tricky. That's why I've sought advice from a financial advisor who specializes in alternative investments like collectibles. Their insights have been invaluable in diversifying my portfolio and managing risks.
Interesting. I've been contemplating adding luxury watches to my investment portfolio, but I'm unsure where to start.
For some reason i always subconciously associate Christofer Ward with fashion brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Armani, Michael Kors etc
I know they are literally night and day but the name always gives me the fashion vibe xd
BAHAHA that’s me and citizen!!!
@@BrittPearceWatches "Mall watch" Do they even have 'Malls' where you are in the UK? It's the only watch brand you consistently find in a jewelry shop in the mall in the U.S. and it is never their cool watches. I take that back in that I did find one shop with a Tsuyosa and a Promaster. The rest were 'meh'.
And that is why they're moving away from the name on the dial to their logo. I like that humility and willingness to adapt.
@@rmoffettutube We have "shopping centres" which are essentially malls but not as big.
We have malls, but not in every town, something like the Derbion centre in Derby is 3 floors, 200 stores, over a million square feet, Meadowhall in Sheffield is even bigger.
I mention those because they're both less than 30 miles from me.
The Westfield in London is the largest mall in Europe, double the size of Meadowhall, parking for 5000+ cars. 70 places to eat, hundreds of retail shops.
There are little shopping centres everywhere, from tiny walkthroughs with a dozen shops to decent sized malls.
The Westfield in London

The only thing about the Cartier Santos is that they lock you into their “Quick Change” system and prevent 3rd parties from making straps for it…it may not be a big deal to some, but it allows for options and affordability to consumers rather than having to go through Cartier specifically for alternative straps
The watch comes with an alternate strap. When you purchase the watch new you get the amazing steel bracelet and either a leather or rubber strap that can be changed out in less than 10 seconds! 🤷♂️
Yes! That can be the trick with it. The only other big flaw is no micro adjustments! That’s my only big flaw with the bracelet!
@@BrittPearceWatchesthey need to add a half link to get that adjustment dialled in. I do like the santos with the dark bezel thingamy. Looks the balls.
The Santos de Cartier large grey with the black ADLC (amorphous diamond like coating) is awesome. The ADLC ‘puts paid’ to the “scratch magnet” complaints. Great looking dial, superior fit on the wrist, 100M water resistance, 1,200 gaus, lume on the hands and indices, the steel bracelet with quick switch and smartlink system and the black rubber strap with deployment clasp,…man! This is THE best value for a luxury watch. Not to mention,…it’s a Cartier!
my gold santos has been on my wrist since 2019, really has been the best watch purchase ever
Love you videos Britt! I’m glad you mention Breitling! Love them ❤
You have gotten a lot better over a short time period. You are providing needed information for darn sure.....and we like it...good stuff....thank you. Keep it up.....bravo.
The classic Oyster Perpetual is the best value Rolex in my opinion. Blue sunburst dial is absolutely gorgeous. It is the entry level but it’s definitely the best value and flies under the radar nicely.
Duh flies under the radar? Any street thug knows a Rolex that's why it's so ubiquitous. 🙄 It's very entry level yes. But doesn't change the fact it's ubiquitous
Glad to see Breitling in the mix! The Premier is gorgeous! But then I’m torn amongst Breitling models, the Premier, the Top Time Thunderbird, and the discontinued Transocean Chronograph. But all in all, a great list of watches here!
You know, I really need to talk aobut Breitling more than I do! Especially for HOW MUCH I LIKE THEM!!!
@@BrittPearceWatches With 150K+ subscribers, if they don’t work with you, they’re nuts! I’ve been wanting a Breitling ever since I saw one in 2011 in Monterey, CA. A Navitimer Montbrillant Datora in stainless with a bronze dial. Absolutely gorgeous!
Grand Seiko should definitely be on this list, and possibly Longines.
Omiwatari is beautiful
I wouldn't put GS on this list solely for the reason that they kinda tank in value if you buy new. If anything I'd put nomos here
Bro, the whole point of the video is whether or not a watch is worth the price. If we're talking about resale value then Rolex is probably no.1.@@youSupaflyy
OUUU FAIR ONE! I need to do a part 2 with all the brands that I MISSED! I feel like Nomos was a big miss as well!
@@SKEITH0REBIRTH you have a point. I think i'm just letting my anti-GS biases show haha I just find their designs so boring/the same
On the verge of buying my partner a new watch (reason I subscribed several weeks ago) and seeing the Santos confirms my purchasing decision!! It just jumps off the screen as being the most beautiful!
Fantastic video thanks. You probably forgot FC high end watches with complications at very competitive prices
Interesting view on the Cartier Santos. It was my first luxury watch which I offered to myself at 18 for my Baccalaureate graduation in 1985. I love it even though the bracelet wore out and Cartier had to replace it. I also have a few Swatches, Hamilton, Seiko, IWC, one Omega and my JLC Memovox Tribute to Polaris 1968 which I got at release in 2008. It now appears to be fantastic value for money as it has a mechanical alarm which I love and most people don’t know what it is. 😉👍🏽
Another great vid from gringa!
Love the ifl stuff bought the spacesurfer on brits recommendation also love the new oris but this video opened me up to getting a Cartier such a classic classy watch 😊
I know you can't include them all but you might add Longines and JLC.
JLC?
They have always been expensive but now after the price hikes they went to a no buy for me.
Britt even mentioned as such herself in a previous video so they don't deserve a spot here.
Longines I agree on. Their recent launch looks stunning with the conquest heritage.
@@DaemonViews When you consider the fact that JLC makes movements for the big 3 but cost a quarter of the price they are actually a bargain. Also the quality level isn't any lower. A master control calendar at 17k is less than a date only Calatrava.
JLC's recent price hikes take them completely out of consideration. Way too expensive now for what they are. They were underpriced 5 years ago, then they overcompensated, and now they're overpriced.
Got my Bel Canto Nero delivered last week and I love it. Due to delays, I was giving Omega 300 Diver a serious thought at one point, but I am glad I waited. Also, when I went to Omega boutique the representative at the store who also owned both an Omega and a CW told me how CW is such a good watch for the price.
Thanks for the episode, Brit
Ahh David! Thank you! :) I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Spot on with Oris in general, and with the Aquis in particular.
Oris is so dang great!
Bel Canto’s time part is way to tiny plus chunky. Increase the watch part 2 mm at most and give finer hands and markers. I use my watches to tell me the TIME.
Planet Ocean? Just get it! I have the 43.5 version and love it and suits me perfectly(although my wrist is a little over 7 1/4). It was the first Omega I ever bought too.
I did 😁 and love it, seriously is such a step up from the SMP 300. Wears so good
I think the Longines Zulu GMT (especially at 39) is amazing value. More than a millimetre thinner than the Tudor GMT, and for less money. And it looks amazing!
My cat is in heat and constantly presenting to me. That Chopard dial looks awfully familiar.
Hi Britt! I just recently started watching your channel, and I definitely enjoy your take on watch collecting. I think this video is a really good concept in a world with so many choices. Yes, value is highly subjective, but I'm glad you looked at watches at a wide price range. Of course there are many more options available, especially when you expand the country of origen to Germany and Japan. I would add that Nomos watches, across their entire product line, are definitely worth the price. From Japan, many will say (and I would agree) much of the Seiko mechanical watch lines are also well worth the price, especially when you consider their reliability.
As an Omega enthusiast, I agree the Planet Ocean line is well worth the money. The prices of the Diver 300M (my favorite Omega line) has increased in price so much in the past four years to now over $5K USD has put it into an area that I might consider to be way overpriced. IMHO, retail for the Diver 300M should be in the $4K-4.5K USD range. I would definitely pay the extra $$ to go to the Planet Ocean in this current market.
Great content! Keep it going!
I remember I talked about SuperOcean is too big for me once, but if I have to choose any Breitling, my pick would not be SuperOcean, nor Navitimer
But it's actually Avenger, even it's not much different in size between SuperOcean, or else it would be any 24-hour from Breitling, I just love 24 hour watch and especially how Breitling do it.
Great video thanks. You crack me up sometimes...I hope Breitling reaches out lol. That Chronomat GMT looks very tempting
Bahaha I'm hoping I was JUST the right level of desperate for them to take pity on me and reach out? ;)
I LOVE my Oris Aquis that I received for my 35th birthday! The red rotor, finishing, value and reliability are unbeatable.
Jeah I'm gonna say it: The alpine eagle dial looks like a asshole. Once you see it, it can never be unseen!
What enthusiasts and industry people calling watches that cost half a grand or more “affordable”-or worse “cheap”- it comes off as out of touch every time. I don’t skirt by on existence but a nearly $500 watch purchase i made recently was one that i really felt. And it’s frustrating when some people reply with “uh well you can get a car for $500” and it’s not like on the same scale at all.
However, i would be okay with phrasing such prices as “attainable”.
The “this watch that watch” channel had a video on bang per buck at the different price points. At the higher levels, it starts being subjective, or put differently, you’re no longer just buying a watch you’re buying an image, price retention, personal preferences, etc..
Fell in love with the Summer Blue PO when I first saw it in the metal a couple of months ago and now it’s sitting on my wrist as I type. Absolutely beautiful watch which has barely been off my wrist since I bought it. By the way only the 43mm PO has the 8900 movement, the 39.5mm has the 8800 😀. Still a fabulous movement currently running at about +1 second a week.
Oh YES! Biggest congrats EVER on owning the summer blue PO! Those models look so freaking GOOD! And the PO is one of the best models of the line up - in my humble opinion. ;)
Where is Grand Seiko
Great video Britt. Chopard is not getting enough spotlight. Had my hands on the Alpine Eagle 41 and was blown away by the quality and wearability of the model. Easy is one of my favorite integrated bracelet watches.
Too expensive in comparison to some of the competition I'd say
Just got the Mido multifort tv big date, I love it! Underrated imo
You KNOW, I need to add more Mido into lists like this because they are beyond underrated!
@@BrittPearceWatches got the gray dial on orange strap!! It is so nice
Big fan of your channel btw ❤
yes please will be great to review breitling chronomat 36, it seems no one talking about it but seems something especial
Omega, Tudor, breitling are my favorite brands. No particular order. I have 2 omegas.
Breitling is one I’m so keen on. B09 in pistachio is gorgeous. As is the Chronomat 39 mint dial. As is the Carrera Glass box in the rich midnight blue 💚💙
The B09 is soooo GOOD! 😍 also insane value for money!
My premier B25 Datora is fantastic. Fyi, there was a time when Breitling sold as many watches as Rolex.
Great list. I know some people interpret value for money as the resale value but for me that’s not it - it’s about having a watch that’s better than it cost. A couple of years ago I wanted a Longines Zulu Time but it was too big for me (they hadn’t yet released the 39mm version) so I got a Breitling Chronomat GMT. Didn’t click with it so took it back 2 days later and bought a 39.5mm Planet Ocean instead. So I’m tracking your list pretty closely although I’d say the basic OP or Explorer 1 are better vfm Rolexes than the DJ.
love seeing the DJ take it for rolex! I have the DJ36 with fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet, and that blue fluted-motif dial which for me is the most badass DJ dial in the line up!
Omega aqua terra and 13:48 Oris pointer date are my picks
I bought a nice one recently, Iron Annie Bauhaus 5050-5 with either eta 2824-2 or Sellita SW200, £400+ new, but I got a slightly used one for £200.
Good video.💯👍
Britney this is a problem everyday. Two weeks ago me and the mrs were in Tesco huddersfield and we had been to dinner we both were wearing Breitlings. When we got in the car we were followed by 4 men in another car they followed us 4 miles to the cinema to collect our daughter then tried to follow us home. i noticed them and then kept taking left turns. They then stopped following. 20 minutes they followed us. You have to be careful so many people are watching you and you dont realise. Sorry you had this yourself. Keep safe.
Great video. Two words Grand Seiko.... case finishing that is as good or better than Rolex, movements that are probably amongst the best there are, innovation, and then there are the dials. The dials.... I mean what more do you need to say.
I think any video on value-for-money mechanical watches needs a shoutout to Nomos, especially their mid range models with the DUW 3001 calibre.
Much love here also for the Planet Ocean, an outstanding spec for the money
Hi Britt great video as always. I think your choices are spot on. I love Chopard, they make amazing watches. I have an LUC. I think their problem is that if you go to an A.D. that stocks them they usually only have the Mille Miglia or the happy diamond ranges. Good watches, but it under sells them. The Datejust is Rolex as you say. So historic & the choices of size & dials are excellent. As for another choice the Tudor 1926 or the Clair du Rose are excellent value. I would also mention the Omega Railmaster as well. I have heard rumours that they will be updating it this year. So you might be able to pick this up a bit cheaper in that case, as the old model is sold off. Another brand I want to get is Chronoswiss. Not the cheapest I know, but amazing watches & a bit different with the jump hour & regulator features.
Your editing is on another level
Keep it up
Whaaat! This has made my day!
Hi britt, love your videos. I brought a Omega planet ocean, with orange assents and the black and orange strap, about six months ago. Wear it every day, love it. It's a perfect time machine on my wrist. Gains about 3 secs a month. Makes me smile every time i look at it. Pull the trigger you won't regret it. John
Glad to see the Planet Ocean mentioned. The current generation PO is such a step above the SMP 300 in every way for the small premium. There is such a refined, luxurious, modern yet classic element to the Planet Ocean wearing experience.
Well said, couldn’t agree more which is why i own one. 👍
When I got my current version speedy it was about half a year after it's launch, and I got a $500 discout from my dealer, bought the display back version with about $6500, what seems crazy with how they are pricing it now.
Awesome video.
Thoughts on the Chopard Happy Sport?! Such a whimsical design!!
Shout out for the Rolex Datejust Fluted on Jubilee. Every watch nut case needs to own this iconic piece at some stage. It’s an acquired taste but quite the eyeful without having the bling turned up to eleven. And for me the wearing balance on wrist can’t be beat. Everything just so, wears like silk on the wrist. Just me I know but it’s the one that gets all my wrist time. In cool mint green. A true Rolex green if ever there was one. Just the gift that keeps giving.
The Oris IFL is a fun piece!
Great video - script, présentation, editing, b-roll, it's all top notch. And I don't get the hate in the comments about a sponsorship - you've got to earn a living.
Personally I'd never contemplate buying any of these as I feel I'm just paying for brand prestige and marketing.
Vintage and especially neo-vintage all the way for me. Plus Tissot, Citizen or Seiko for anything modern and beaterish that needs to be waterproof.
I'm with you on the brand prestige and marketing aspects. At these price points one is not buying a machine that keeps time - the original purpose of a watch. This is something else that can be discussed between one's self and their therapist. ;-)
Im waiting on a Rolex DJ 36 with white roman dial on a jubilee and fluted. I know its not the "best" dial but i think its absolutely class!
BUT lets see if I actually get one...
Just picked up an Alpine Eagle Cadence LE. I previously thought Rolex had great finishing...the AE is just on another level, especially the cadence model with the best finished titanium case/bracelet I've ever seen. Combine that with the ludicrous and super special 8Hz movement, and it's got me wondering if I could just sell everything else and make this my exit piece
Wife has the super Chronomat 38 in Blue with rubber strap. She isn’t a watch “collector “ but she really loves this watch. At double the price of the Chronomat 36 though 😮
I am fortunate to have a Rolex Sub Date and Batgirl. I am considering a Cartier Tank Must Large to add to my collection. I also have G-Shock and an Omega Seamaster Quartz (Brosnan Bond). I need to go into a Cartier store to try a Tank Must Large on.
Your videos are really essential to my understanding of horology. You are speaking on many levels at the same. It's a gift.
Thanks!
I see a lot of the same brands (not complaining, just an observation) when it comes to the topic of “A lot of watch for the money” but I rarely see Sinn or Doxa make this list. Curious as to why, in your opinion. Anyways, great content and I enjoy watching.
For a good watch under $2000, I would have added the Max Bill by Junghans, any thoughts?
Got a Bel Canto and it’s a treat.
If the Speedmaster is not worth it's price tag, then neither is the Navitimer, El Primero, IWC Pilot's Chronograph, or Monaco which are all either higher or very similar price points. And let's not even mention the Daytona when it comes to price...
Wow this chopard from 10:57 is a stunner. What is this ref. number?
Saw my DJ41 Mint Green Jubilee Fluted sitting in the case and always liked it in pictures, but when I saw it in person, I fell in love. Was able to buy it the same day by some stroke of luck from an AD while on vacation. To me, it’s THE Rolex.
The best value for money Rolex at MSRP is the GMT.
The Datejust with the fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet is way too expensive and can only be used as a dress watch.
The GMT costs the same and can be used as a dress/ sports watch and can track many time zones.
OUSH! You think?! I think with recent price rises, it's becoming less and less of a good proposition! The OTHER Rolex I was so close to saying was the Explorer II. GMT complication, cool looking watch, same movement as GMT Master II cal. 3285 and about a grand cheaper i believe?! BUT I'm all about the jubilee life - so I love the GMT!
@@BrittPearceWatches I’d say the worst proposition is actually the Submariner!
It costs the same as a GMT but has water resistance you’ll never use. Not even Scuba divers go further than 100m, so at least the GMT has a function 🙂
Yeah, but you can actually probably get a Datejust for MSRP, you can certainly get one on the secondary market for under current MSRP.
You can't get a GMT unless you know the secret handshake and are a member of an exclusive club no talks about, or are happy to pay at least 50% over retail. Which is about double what the Datejust will cost you.
Agreed GMT is the better watch and choice, a datejust should not be close to the same price as a GMT
Baume et Mercier Riviera with their 4hz baumatic movement with 5 days power reserve, great build quality and rich history can't be ignored.
A video about value that doesn’t mention Grand Seiko or Longines is honestly insane.
LOL, I hate myself! BIG MISS!
I agree with Longines but not so with GS. They offer amazing quality but the reason very few people buy them is because of their design.
@@rmr5184 What’s wrong with their design? And with what specific collection? They’ve got a couple with drastically different design languages.
Everyone loves the Santos for a reason. Pure class and amazing value at any price 🤪🤩
Best statement - $1k is a lot of money! Britt just keeps it real, and the same way I make buying decisions. I have that mental list of $1k, $5k, $10k - with $10k and over being "what on earth are you thinking?!" In that direction, I surrendered and recently bought a Cartier Santos. I thought I was crazy, it's just a jewelry store watch, but now that I own it, I'm amazed how it feels borderline grail watch - as Britt said, it is crazy how it blends that dress/casual mix.
Oh, and that ILF painted Oris - wow! As always, love not only the honest reviews from Britt, but this is a fun find. On their website now... and what a cool customization.
Omega Planet Ocean ❤❤
Love Oris..... The Aquis is a classic diver, not like any watch on the market which is very difficult to do with so many designs out..... 😊
RIGHT?! Perfectly said!
Whenever I see that Alpine Eagle I wonder where the cat is....😂 You could tuck a tea towel in that.
😂😂
🤣🤣 James Blonde is in the HOUSE!
Longines Zulu Time GMT, especially at 39mm, especially in green. Can be had for around $2500 new.
Has anyone found the date function mentioned in the email that CW just sent out about their new C63 Valour?
I would add Grand Seiko to that list. The level of finishing is among the best out there at very reasonable price
Please review any Breitling models!!!
I think watches with big “bang for buck “ are bought by people who have too many watches. I think any $30k watch is a great value IF it’s a forever regularly worn watch 😎. I’m trying to reduce my collection 😆.
Me watching this with my first “luxury” watch, Tissot PRX 😅
There is a lot of luxury “value” in Montblanc. Maybe these are best on the used market but their offerings are very unique with the Geosphere and Nicolas Rieussec. Since they own Minerva they have a movement maker that is one of the best ever.
JLC ultra thin with moon in steel, VC Patrimony or Traditionnelle. $$$ but big discount used.
Thoughts on Parmigiani Fleuriers recent pieces?
None of them are really worth the price in any tangible sense, but if people will pay the price, they're worth it!
What do you think of IWC Portofino? Been trying to find a nice woman's watch which is not iced out but feminine, not huge, not flashy but still from a respectable brand and attractive looking, not boring. It is not easy to find something like this!
the problem with oemga is they keep doing the whole "we went to the moon btw" instead of actually bringing something new, I ain't dropping 8k for a speedmaster when you can get an older model for half the price.
The astronauts who were there just wanted to get their own stuff on there, like Colonel Pogue and whoever wore the Bulova.
Finally someone else said it👏 I absolutely 💯 agree. The Speedmaster Professional is played the hell out. It's extremely over done
Worth is tricky, strong arguments that watches like santos are not worth it. My pick would be breitling colt automatics from 2000-2010, these can be had for £1-1.3k and are exceptionally solid and well built, they used to compete with the Rolex GMT.
Great list….but you missed one...Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 😊
“Too many divers, so I’m going with this one” - then talks about a watch with a rotating bezel 😂 amazing video as always!
Glashütte Original and NOMOS also come to mind!
Nothing beats a good Cartier❤ love your videos, can’t wait to see more🎉
With you on the PO! Just bought one last week after I thought I’d become an SMP guy.
Flipped my SMP 300 for the PO, such a good watch.
How about the new Omega Paris 2024 Bronze Gold? I fell for it instantly. I’m on the local AD wish list and it’s ONLY $cad16,700 before tax.🎉
How about Zenith, especially the Chronomaster Sport,? great value vs the Rolex daytona
Tudor is my favorite and I really want to get my hands on the 925.
The 925 is DANG LOVELY! The silver is sooo subdued!
Great selection.
Oris Aquis worth the price.
Cartier for some reason I prefer the Pasha instead of the Santos.
Tudor Black Bay 58 is an obvious choice.
Omega Seamaster or Speedmaster of course, but why such a price increase since 2 or 3 years?
Rolex, many models are too expensive nowadays.
Chopard, I don't like their watches.
