Fun fact: The star destroyer actually carries over damage done from the previous mission. For example, if you destroyed the ion turrets in Razor Rendezvous, they’ll be destroyed in this mission. If you destroyed 5 and left 3 intact, those 3 will still be functioning in this mission.
I've always wondered how that tracks with replays. Can you play Razor Rendezvous just before this one and take out all the ion turrets specifically to make this mission easier, or does it only check from the first time you played?
If you start as a Y-Wing in this mission you can make things go faster by bombing the hull of the Star Destroyer before the troops even land. Then you don't have to switch into one later on. It does make fighting off the TIEs a little harder, though.
When you're a technician who finally managed to escape the crashed, flooded, and ready to blow Star Destroyer and the last thing you see is a Y-Wing bomber drop a proton bomb on you.
The bothans died confirming that the Emperor would be present at Endor. They never had anything to do with the technical schematics when you look at the films.
+Glandor Exactly, Book 6 of the X-Wing series, Wedge and company took them down with lasers they didn't use the torpedoes in case they needed them against a capital ship.
I just wanna say that the whole X-wing taking down AT-ATs thing is kinda stupid. I can see a squadron of X-wings taking down maybe two At-ATs, if they gave 'em everything they got.
Clark Esteban Nah, its one thing that the Snowspeeders lasers can’t take them out, but X Wings are starfighters, their lasers should pack more than enough of a punch to take down an AT-AT.
I think they should have had a slightly harder time with just lasers than in Isard's Revenge (Which I think is actually book 8 of the X-Wing novels) but they should go down to laser fire eventually.
There is literally no room for error when tripping the walkers on this, though that goes to say any time. To close and you may end up hitting a leg and blowing up. To far and you risk loosing the connection to your cable.
As fun as this level is--the bit where you have to take down those AT-ATs demonstrates how off-scale some things are; namely, the size ratio between the walkers and the wrecked Star Destroyer, seeing as old EU source guides say the typical Star Destroyer carried at least a half-dozen AT-ATs--and even with the legs scrunched in, there's no way in hell a ship that size could have carried that many plus all the TIEs it had in the previous level (typical Imperial Star Destroyer carries a full wing--which is 72 TIEs; not to mention other craft such as shuttles and gunboats).
Am I the only one that thinks the rebels bringing unarmed transports everywhere is a ridiculous strategy? Could have at least put a couple guns on there....
how did the Rebellion take out AT-ATs before the Tow Cable Strategy was invented. I'm sure a few Proton Bombs would have cracked that walker wide open even with it's super armor
Hoth was the first time they ever faced the AT-AT in large scale combat. Before then, they did face it in skirmishes or small battles which always required them to over whelm them with firepower they normally didn't have.
Maybe it's REALLY hot. Could totally be generating so much heat that water wouldn't cool it. I mean, think about how much energy it would take to launch a vehicle of that size into hyperspace. Probably 1 year's worth of NYC's consumption. That's a hot reactor.
Scarif was inspired by Toprawa which was the battle that explained how the Alliance captured the Death Star plan. Which was more of a commando raid on the planet and a small space battle over all but at the time it, the Alliance brought everything they could.
Because the Factor 5 team and its composer Chris Huelsbeck wanted to develop some original BGMs to better suit the content for this game over using original Movie BGMs. Some missions in this game feature original Star Wars OST MP3’s like the Death Star Attack, Raid on Bespin, and the 2nd Death Star Attack.

2001 boi
So I wasn't seeing things

That's awesome! I never paid that close attention to the damage!
LOVE this game. And factor 5
After all these years it still looks good
I LOVE THIS MISSION DEFINETELY ONE OF MY FAVORITES IN GAME HISTORY!!!
they really should release this on steam like they released the first rogue squadron
As much as I would like that to happen, Rogue Leader never got a PC release unlike the original, so that would be very difficult to do.

It’s very possible. Even destroy the ground defenses of the imperials to score higher.
man, those imperials just had a terrible fucking day and just wanted to escape that deathtrap.
I never saw it that way
When you're a technician who finally managed to escape the crashed, flooded, and ready to blow Star Destroyer and the last thing you see is a Y-Wing bomber drop a proton bomb on you.
I'm frankly surprised any imperials survived the descent, let alone the crash.
And this is why you could tell Gareth Edwards is a real Star Wars geek/Fan. Battle of Scarif. ;-)
I missed the part in the level where many Bothans died getting the data
Maybe Crix had a lot of bothan commandos
The bothans died confirming that the Emperor would be present at Endor. They never had anything to do with the technical schematics when you look at the films.
I revisited this game not too long ago and it still holds up very well. We actually need a modern star wars game like this
...Packs torpedoes that can take out the Death Star. Can't take out a camel walker.
Woops.
+Glandor In the Books and the EU they figured out that the X-Wings could melt through the AT-AT's tough armor.

thank you so much for uploading all of this!! I love your star wars videos! you are a very skilled player!! :-)
3:17 walker assault get those uplinks turned on
I'd love a movie where they have Imperials blast their way out of their own ship.

8:08 Please tell me which targets you need the support against!
My only advice is to quickly take out the AT-PTs, then go after the ground troops near the Star Destroyer.
Love usin' cluster bombs in this mission.
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader - The Battle of Kothlis
I'd live on that planet for sure.
Am I the only one that thinks the rebels bringing unarmed transports everywhere is a ridiculous strategy? Could have at least put a couple guns on there....
Theplaymaker1271 It's literally their numerous ships with corvettes and frigates coming 2nd and 3rd. Those ships were almost they have got.
The Medium transport by Lore is armed with self defense weapons but for some odd reason, this is never shown in these games.
That's mostly what the fighter escorts are for.
One of my favorite missions.

Richard Ched Well, like in Battlefront, they probably just bombed the crap out of it. I don't think this many X-wings would be enough, though.
I think Hoth was the first time they faced AT-AT's in open battle.

Veers tested the Walker properly a short time before both... prior they were a weaker frame
This planet looks very similar to Scariff
i never knew the stormtroopers look like ants
They do from the bomb sight of a Y-wing.
The Locs Ewok I also didn’t know that they blew up when shot by a starfighter’s laser.
"ahhhhhhaaa!"
They are ants Michael they are ants
this was as far as i got in this game as a kid lol was so hard
*high heat signals from the reactor, its submerged*

Start off as a Y Wing anyway in this mission you can bomb the star destroyer top hangar earlier than when the mission prompts for this.
I always used the Naboo star fighter
Alex, who had been naffed in 2007, watched this mission and went "waaaa! Waaaaa! Waaaaa!" Through it all as she was being Homebased. Catch me! ;)
Omg this is definitely going to be in Rogue One.
And yet one planet shown in the trailers(Scarif) looks very similar in climate. It's not out of the realm of possibility that they were inspired.

I remember playing and constantly being called away to fend off tie fighters. I could never finish the actual objectives.
I wish they released this on the switch...They don’t have to remaster it or anything I just wanna play it again :(
9:51 I wish someone give me a medal with golden balls on it. LOL
I did not know this was released on game cube. I have to play this now
Good Shooting!
Nice shootin'!

I hate the forced use of speeders every time there are ATATs. Are you telling me a Y wing couldnt take one down?
So, have you seen they are turning this into a movie?
i guess they had to use midi songs due to memory space? even the n64 star wars games used original music tracks

I played the Rogue Squadron on the Nintendo 64
A mix of the battle of Scariff And Jakku
Yeah, only this game was released 16 years before that movie.
This needs to be on the nintendo switch
i hope i wasnt the one who dropped a bomb on all the friendlies just because i could ^-^;
Attack pattern delta, go now!
which controller did you use?
Gamecube Controller
Wonder where luke was when all this was happening
Still on Dagobah, I'd imagine.
@@EntertainmentFan11 Yeah sounds about right
Either Dagobah or it was after Empire Strikes back while he was recovering or undergoing Jedi training.
He had actually assisted in collecting the data in the first place with the Bothans, but got captured by bounty hunters in Shadows of the Empire.

Looks like The Force Awakens. Cool
ravagetime Don’t compare The Shit Awakens to a good SW game.
nice
I have seen rogue one and it isn't the movie
What?
These were the plans for the SECOND Death Star. Mission went MUCH better than getting the plans for the first one.
Really nice, but comeon PT-ST under water... Give me a break...
Why not? They're fully sealed.
