I too have been weighing the pros and cons of buying a used Tesla. Google obviously watches everything that you do ( and they own UA-cam), so I’ve been on both CarGurus and Tesla’s website comparing “ Apple to apples. I’m pretty set on spending more to buy a car from Tesla, as they give an extended warranty on every used car that they sell. And , they have all the accessories you’re going to want at the pickup location. Thanks so much for this very informative video.Well Done!

Awesome video dude. I'm in the market for a used car and have watched tons of videos about different makes and models (I'm partial to the Audi SQ5) but watching your video convinced me Tesla is the way to go, mainly for the yearly cost. Keep making videos like this one. Thanks

Don’t forget the $4000 federal tax credit and state incentives. Looking at a $21,000 M3 from 2020 and after credits and incentives it should be about $10,000. Crazy deal.
I can't believe people buy NEW Teslas actually. The newer Model 3 and Model Y long range AWD version both see their range revised downward again just last week. And with Tesla recommended charging of no more than 80%, the stated range of Model Y LR AWD of 308 is reduced to 246 miles. That is not what we call a "long range" model. And if you get the Model Y LR AWD with the 20 inch rims and tires package, the range is further decreased to just 287 miles. and 80% recommended charging of that further reduce the usable range to 229 miles only. Forget it.
Going on 3 years with my model 3. Most convenient car I’ve ever owned. Can’t remember the last time I’ve been to gas station and very low maintenance.. which consisted of windshield fluid so far
NEVER buy new. I bought a 2014 Model S back in 2019 for $41K and it was a bargain. Last week I sold it privately for $19K and bought a 2022 Model Y extended range AWD fully loaded (with FSD) for $41K.
Nice! I bought a 2014 Model S back in 2019 for $32k. I sold it last month for $17k. I'm going to replace it with either a 2022 or newer LR M3 or M3P as soon as rates fall to where I prefer them (had a 5% rate on the S, can't stomach double that with a 720+ score). Until then I'll drive my 1995 Lexus LS400 and wince once a week when I pull into the gas station and slide under it to change the oil periodically! Lol.

Just purchased for $25k (no accidents and one owner ) the 2016 Model X 75D for our first electric vehicle. Going into it I knew we were going to take a hit on the range as it has 90k miles. This suv will be primarily used by my wife for commuting 15 miles each way to work and me doing errands around town and such. The range degradation is roughly 70 mile loss at 80% charge but we are ok with that. Hopefully in a few years we will upgrade to a more robust battery pack like the 100D if available. Just go into it with eye wide open and not expect it to go to the moon and back on a charge. The interior is impeccable as is the outside. Liking it so far. Honestly I'm waiting on solid state battery packs to come along. That will be a revolution.
Dunno about the USA, but in the UK it’s not just the cost of electric (higher priced here) and tyres you have to worry about! Car insurance here especially for EV’s is extremely expensive! Plus whereas Road tax is/was free for an EV it won’t be soon!
I've been thinking about buying a used Tesla. The prices of used ones has come down so much and I could use my Tesla for powering my house in Grid down situations really has me thinking about buying one.
Seriously have been contemplating buying a Tesla. We live on a military base and don’t have to worry about utilities. Seems like a no brainer however my only concern is if I buy used. The battery warranty has been hesitating as knowing my luck I’ll get slapped with a bad one and have to pay out of pocket. Thanks for the great video as it really added some firepower to help convince the wife!
I just got a 2022 Model 3 SR for only $27 plus tax title etc. just over $30k out the door. Only has 13k miles on it. Smells new too. Absolutely flawless until my toddler got in it.
I am looking at buying a Tesla for myself. The choice is a 2020 model with 80,000km or spend $10,000 more for a 21 model with 30,000km on the clock. Both contain autopilot. Both of them are from the Tesla dealership in Melbourne
Looking at buying a 2020 model 3 LR early next year. My biggest concern is obviously the battery, but I've seen the prices have come down a lot, and so have the prices of used Teslas. I could buy a used model 3, and replace the battery for about the same price I could buy the Elantra N new, which is the car I was looking at.
I just got a 19 Dual Motor LR. its pretty awesome paid 25k. 41k on the clock. FSD included. However..... I got it 1 month ago, and its loosing 1KWH of Nominal full pack per week. Thankfully Tesla has the warranty for 120k or 8 years. So when it fails It should be coved.
Got a 2020 model S for 29k... I don't understand why they are so cheap. The car is insanely fast (not plaid but faster than any other car I've driven, ever), smooth, great stereo and has an app with tons of features.
There was a time when 6 years or 100k miles and the car was ready for scrap. Now, I am buying cars with 70k-120k miles. Haven't pulled trigger on ev yet.
For me just the savings on gas vs home charging will pay my entire car payment when I get a Tesla or any other BEV. I love my Toyota Sequoia but wont miss the $75 gas fillups
I bought a three-year-old 2021 with 30,000 miles on it. There was no way that you would know it was a used vehicle from Tesla. It was that well taken care of.
Your Tesla still has more range then my 2019 Hyundai Kona. Which had an original range of 256 Miles. I am still close to that . When my wife's ford is done we plan to buy a Tesla Y. And it will certainly be a second hand one. My Kona is as good as new after 5 years. I have no concerns buying second hand EV's. Good vid , thumbs up for this one.
Wow, your video popped up just when I needed it. I'm considering buying a 2018 Tesla 3 Dual Motor AWD Long Range. It's custom painted green and that's my primary worry. It is so hard to tell just how good the paint job is and whether that's going to be a problem down the road. Oh, only 34K miles, very clean black and white interior, and priced only a smidgen more than yours. That all said, I really love the color.
Smart Man! I bought a used 18,000 mile Tesla Long Range model Y with performance boost which is 100 hp extra and full self driving and it came with 20 inch wheels which look great but I rather have the 19 inch wheel for a smoother ride and more distance. I paid $35,000 in December 2023. Shortly after that we got these extremely low prices and low interest rates. I did get performance boost upgrade and full self driving for at least $20,000 less than if I bought a new one. That’s a huge discount from buying a brand new one with super low prices and discounts on interest! I probably could be the deal I got by $5000 just by shopping longer for the deal. I used to have the same model that you’re driving a long range 2018 model three. My daughter is driving it and I took it for a drive and it is so perfect and extremely fast even compared to my high horsepower model Y I like how the model Y sits up and you walk in and sit down and you have all the space in the back, but the big butt is I like the model three looks much much better and I like how you can carve the turns on mountain roads! Enjoy your new car. I know that my daughter‘s car hasn’t changed a bit since 2018. I kinda like the rear wheel drive by the way I like handles. Her car does not have a squeak or a rattle. It’s a solid as a brand new 2024 Tesla. Maybe two dB less quiet. Cheers, Daniel
I have been looking at the used inventory that Tesla has because they will normally tack on a reasonable warranty on both the car and the battery. Something you won't get from a non-Tesla dealership. However, because of the terms & conditions with the current tax incentive, I would only benefit by getting a new Model 3. :-( Still, it is tempting and your video does a good job showing the good points of going with a used one. I already have a Level 2 in the garage for the PHEV that I own, so with either an old or new Tesla, I am all set in that department.
Just got myself a 2022' Model Y Performance w/26k miles for $32k and it's NOT a former rental car. To purchase this excact car new was over $60k in 2022'
Brady, you don't have to worry about getting a new Tesla because of the latest and greatest software updates. I still have my Chevy Blazer, but I am considering a pre-owned Tesla as opposed to a new Tesla for a weekend car.

Enjoyed the video. In CA, charging at home is about $100/month average. Much better than my previous $500 plus monthly gas bill. I would recommend installing a Tesla wall charger and charge at the highest 48amp setting which charges much the car much faster.
For battery life I recommend you limit home daily charging to 30A
I got a 2015 i3 back in 2018 for less than a third of what it cost new. Though it's getting a little long in the tooth now, I still LOVE it. Built well, drives well and I've saved a ton of money over that time.
I’m still think about buying a used Tesla.
I think it’s worth it! Just make sure you balance the price and mileage and history.
I bought a 2016 Tesla Model S with 180,000 miles on it a few months ago, and so far I love it, and it runs like brand new
@@jrwrock3592 thanks for sharing.
What about the battery ?@@jrwrock3592
I too have been weighing the pros and cons of buying a used Tesla. Google obviously watches everything that you do ( and they own UA-cam), so I’ve been on both CarGurus and Tesla’s website comparing “ Apple to apples. I’m pretty set on spending more to buy a car from Tesla, as they give an extended warranty on every used car that they sell. And , they have all the accessories you’re going to want at the pickup location. Thanks so much for this very informative video.Well Done!
Just bought a 2021 (which I recommend as that is when they put in the double pain glass with sound proofing) Model Y which was only 31K
I’m looking at buying Used and was looking for a video like this on buying a 5+ years old Tesla and seeing how one’s opinion. Thank you
I just picked my 2018 tesla model 3 up and absolutely enjoy it.
Got a 2021 w 24k mi from Tesla, smells like it’s new still. I charge at home, and there’s two superchargers about 2mi away. Makes it more convenient than waiting at Costco for cheaper gas. And I’m always ready to go.
bought a long range 2019 model 3 AWD. it had 84k Km on the clock. love the thing and it smells of new and it feels pretty new. here's hoping it maintains itself well especially the battery. it's my biggest concern
I want to see how the different models compare cost for a used. Thinking about a model X used but afraid of battery issues been older vehicle.
Great video. I just gave my ‘18 to my son as his first car. Absolutely agree, these are still amazing cars.
Just bought a 21 plate M3LR and it’s 50% better than I imagined
Just got a model 3 2018, one user and in great shape. I’m in loveeeeee ❤
This is so well done, Brady!
Thank you so so much!!
Awesome video dude. I'm in the market for a used car and have watched tons of videos about different makes and models (I'm partial to the Audi SQ5) but watching your video convinced me Tesla is the way to go, mainly for the yearly cost. Keep making videos like this one. Thanks
Glad to hear it! Thank you so much. I’m actually meeting up with some folks and doing some roller shots today for another video!
Let me know if there’s anything I can help you with
Don’t forget the $4000 federal tax credit and state incentives. Looking at a $21,000 M3 from 2020 and after credits and incentives it should be about $10,000. Crazy deal.
Can you qualify for those incentives for used vehicles?
Just purchased a 2019 model 3 dual motor long range with only 18k miles on it for 25k. I'm excited I watched this video
I have a 2018 TM3 and still drives like new.
It's crazy how well they hold up!
Same here, 82k miles. also got a 2023 Model Y LR.
Did you buy it privately or through a dealer?
I purchased brand new 2024 Y AWD LR for $40K after Fed EV credit. Sometimes new makes sense.
Lol.
I'm in a conundrum weather to buy a brand new mitsubishi mirage or a used tesla which would be about the same 23k canadian
@@Fernie-vv2ei ....23k Canadian....how bad are your winters? Range loss in the winter is indeed a thing. Anyone who doesn't have the ability to charge at home AND has harsh winters to deal with....I tell them to think twice before buying an EV.
I bought a 2020 Model 3 Performance with 52,000 miles for $21,000. Awesome deal 💯. I love the convenience and performance this car provides at a crazy low price point.
I did the same thing. Bought a 2018 model 3. It came with FSD which surprised the hell out of me. Only 15k miles.
People don’t realize that ICE vehicles lose MPGs too, depending on how old the engine is and the maintenance being done.
Just picked up a 2021 SR plus for 25 7k miles kinda nuts excited for it
In the UK you can now buy a used MS or M3 for
getting quoted $4000 for a charger is wild, our BP wallbox was under £400 around 4 years ago
Yea I just picked up a 2019 SR+ a month ago for $21,700 with 39k on it. Jumped on the deals when the prices tanked. Super happy with it
Tesla is the best EV but from my personal experience, I won't recommend a Standard Plus version. If you want a used one, go for a long-range
Absolutely. Long Range all the way
Dunno about the USA, but in the UK it’s not just the cost of electric (higher priced here) and tyres you have to worry about! Car insurance here especially for EV’s is extremely expensive! Plus whereas Road tax is/was free for an EV it won’t be soon!
I've been thinking about buying a used Tesla. The prices of used ones has come down so much and I could use my Tesla for powering my house in Grid down situations really has me thinking about buying one.
bought a 2018 Model 3 Performance for $27k with 38k miles last week and i think its still flawless
My son. Performance Y 2022..he loves. Royal blue
Just picked up a 2019 Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range for 12k even with 120k miles
Great deal still gets 270 miles on a charge
The quality of this video speaks for itself! I love it.
Just bought a 2023 G Wagon, it is a monster!
On the face of it, what do you guys think?
Wow I live in Georgia too. Getting a used model 3 soon from Carvana.
The 2018 model 3 is the fastest of all the long-range
Thanks for Sharing I'm definitely looking at the tesla.
Got a 2020 model S for 29k... I don't understand why they are so cheap. The car is insanely fast (not plaid but faster than any other car I've driven, ever), smooth, great stereo and has an app with tons of features.
A 6yo car is not old 😅 Great purchase 👍😊
There was a time when 6 years or 100k miles and the car was ready for scrap. Now, I am buying cars with 70k-120k miles. Haven't pulled trigger on ev yet.
For me just the savings on gas vs home charging will pay my entire car payment when I get a Tesla or any other BEV. I love my Toyota Sequoia but wont miss the $75 gas fillups
Picked up a 2019 model 3 SR for 19k. Definitely worth it
I got a 2018 Model S 100D for $29.5k with 81k miles. Insane that when it came out, it was around $100k. Buying new is ridiculous.
My battery failed as soon as the warranty ran out. And 310 miles range is horrible.
The new highland puts the old model 3 to shame! I’ll buy one in a few years .
Still, it is tempting and your video does a good job showing the good points of going with a used one.
I already have a Level 2 in the garage for the PHEV that I own, so with either an old or new Tesla, I am all set in that department.
Awsome video and incredibly informative. Keep up the good work, Brady.
Much appreciated! Will do🙏🙏
I work for Tesla we’re just getting better and better as the years go by !!! Love my job ! You can buy a new Model Y for 43k in Europe.
Just got myself a 2022' Model Y Performance w/26k miles for $32k and it's NOT a former rental car. To purchase this excact car new was over $60k in 2022'
Loved this review !!!! Now I’m looking at used models via Telsa! Seems they give better pricing vs carmax ! And newer / used models 🎉
Brady, you don't have to worry about getting a new Tesla because of the latest and greatest software updates. I still have my Chevy Blazer, but I am considering a pre-owned Tesla as opposed to a new Tesla for a weekend car.
He has an Intel processor. He'll miss out on some updates because he doesn't have a Ryzen chip.
Not Scout! 😩🖤 Hope he went to a good home.
This video is phenomenal Brady!
He did🥲 it was a bit bittersweet
And thank you so much!
Excellent video Brady, just subscribed!
Nice. I loved my Model S P90D but it wast totalled and am looking for a replacement vehicle. Maintentence and battery issues are my biggest concerns on a used Tesla. I would be buying a 2015-2018 depending on trim and price.
Absolutely love this. I’ve just subscribed & will be watching your previous stuff & more. Thank you!
I’m definitely going this route when I’m ready to replace my civic
It’s sooo worth it🙏🙏
just bought a 2021 LR3 for 23k 31k on dash amazing deal
Really terrific, concise accounting. I had to laugh tho when you asked if we thought you spent 30 40 or 50,000 on a 6 year old RWDM3. I was going to guess something in the low twenties to under 20.
You got a new subscriber
Thank you so much!
I’m sure it’s an ideal daily driver but I’d need some manual V8 muscle for the weekend.
That’s fair 😂
If I had the option I would love to have a Camaro SS around with it
@@ClipPlayTV Yea the Camaro’s are great looking and fun I’m sure. I have an 03 Cobra with some mods. It’s a blast to drive. But I see that you can pick up a low mileage Plaid for less than 70K in this market. I need to take one of those for a spin some day 😃
Manifesting one in my near future 🤞🏽
Looking into buying a 2022 long range awd with 64,000 miles for $24,000. Is this a good deal & what should i be looking for. Thanks 👍🏾
