The push up at the end reminded me of the 2-3-5 we played many years ago on a Scottish side I played for at the time. It gave the opposing keepers a nervous breakdown. 😉
Excellent video! I coach teen 11v11 soccer and I really love the 4-4-2. I stumbled into it as my daughter plays striker and was put on a team where their only 5 rated player is also a striker. The coach decided to do 4-4-2 at my suggestion and I think he was happy about the decision because my daughter ended the season the leading scorer 4 fold. The 5 rated striker scored two goals all season. She also lead in assists. I don't think he took full advantage of the 4-4-2 as he played a straight 4-4-2, not a 4-4-2 diamond as you suggest, and which is far superior. Too bad, because his daughter is one of the best center midfielders I've seen, and I think she would do great in the forward space of the diamond. She had most of the assists to my daughter, but they were long passes of around 2/3 the field and then my daughter had to control a long ball, dribble through multiple defenders and score. Often times she and the other striker had no support. She plays very heads up and is more likely to pass than to dribble through defenders, but the flat 4-4-2 often leaves the two strikers alone.
