With the car on the ground,I managed to remove my vaporiser valve in one piece with an open ended spanner hammered on with shims so it was on good and tight. Plenty of penetrating oil the night before. Using a block of wood and a small trolley jack to apply undoing pressure, tapping in the limited space, the unit came off! I drilled a 2.5mm hole in the centre of the body until it broke through to the outlet hole. Solid copper wire was poked into the hole until all the crap was cleared and rinsed with some brake cleaner, it was now possible to blow air through using an electric air compressor. The drilled hole was tapped M3 and a grub screw inserted then peened over with a hammer. Saved a few quid.
This has just happened to me ( 2013 Mondeo 2.ol TDCI Titanium X ) and I have got my car booked in with local Ford Specialist next week. This video has been mega helpful to show me what is involved. Plus a very funny man which is always a bonus
@Alan many thanks for saving me a wad of money. I successfully diagnosed my fuel Vaporiser thanks to this video. I replaced it at 1200000 miles with ford main dealer and fitted for around 600euro. Last week I ordered part from Auto Doc for 170euro (exact same part and stamp as one I removed) and followed your video. Did the regen and cleared the codes. Using premium diesel and the difference in the power is unreal. Next time you're in Dublin I'll buy you a few pints 😎
Great video. Same issue with an mk 4 2010, tdci 163 hp. Good thing you’ve added the wallet thing in the end. It seemed like an easy operation and i was already starting to question my ford dealer’s quote at 250 euros.
Mine has literally just started a regen as I pulled onto my drive (2012 Titanium X Sport). Never revved like that, but the exhaust note changed and the fans came on full Bore! 😂 Took just over 5 mins to complete. Also, a worthwhile note, check your instant mpg. When just idling, it should read 0.1 mpg, when on a regen it should read 0.4 mpg. 👍
I had one gone bad on a transit and took the glow plug out of it, drilled a small hole in the large pipe just above the nozzle and cleaned the soot out through that hole.. after all that i had the hole covered by weld and that was it. Done a regen and it's all ok now.
Nice video, as expected! I had the same issue on my Focus and before I ordered a new part I thought I'd try to mend the old one. What do I have to lose, right? Long story short, after I burned the nozzle with a gas burner it started smoking and got nice and red. Kept it glowing red for about 30 minuted until I saw that there is no more smoke coming out, let it cool down a bit (no more red colour) then cooled it down quick in water to crack the soot inside then with a pick broke all the remaining ash inside and blew it out the hole. Managed to unclog it and it saved me about 315 Euros. Ah, I removed the hose and the spark plug (measured it beforehand though) before baking the nozzle, just to be on a safe side. Still using it 2 years later without any issues.
only problem with that, is for a garage to do that it would cost more than what the part costs to buy, hour labour to swap new part or 4 hours to clean old part.....
I too work for a taxi company, our transits have this problem almost weekly, we cut the long end shaft in half, drill out the carbon and Weld it back together. Same code is the initial indicator... conditions not met or temperature too low for regen
If only my father is alive right now, he will be happy watching this because my deceased dad is a diesel mechanic driver so he can really relate to this.
Great watch. Currently got a galaxy in with the code p244c low temp in cat during regeneration. Removed the fuel pipe from vaporiser and activated pump via snap on machine. Pumps diesel so i would assume the vaporiser is blocked or the glow plug is knackered. Local ford dealers are wanting £278 plus vat
Top video Alan. You seem to be the go to on UA-cam for stuff on Ford diesels. Keep it up. Your help is invaluable trying to keep these turds on the road.
Forscan is brilliant for all fords. Its free all you need is the obd elm327 adapter. My focus st tdci has this dw10 engine. No ad blue so I reckon it will probably have a vaporizer?
Hi thank you for the videos. Im just about to change my vaporizer. Just wounding if i can take the car on a long run on the motorway to do the regeneration or does it have to be plugged in? Thank you
Thanks for the video. Used this to assist changing one on my Galaxy... 👍🏼 resorted to cutting the old one off to get a 22 socket on it!!! Bloody tiiiiiiigght!! 😯
After cleaning this injector on my mk3 diesel focus with compressed air and brake cleaner diesel fuel was pouring out trough the injector. Is there a chance that i messed something up inside the injector itself Before cleaning no air could pass trough the nozzle Am i safe to put it back on the car I am worried that i broke something in the injector.
Short runs on untreated supermarket diesel is one sure fire way of clogging the system up with soot. It'll probably screw up the injectors, turbo and the EGR...ECO BOOM style! On shorter runs I always tip 250ml of regen plus in every full tank then run it right down to about 50 mls til empty before fueling back up again repeating the process. After about 3000 mls tip in dpf cleaner into the tank then go through the same process just to blow out the ash. Far easier just to give it a run down the m'way or d'carriageway for an hour every week then do the process with the dpf cleaner as required. Always using premium fuel in every tank
Managed to remove old one but the thread stripped on the old nut . I gave up took it to a mechanic and now it can't do a dpf regeneration due to code p246b and p2463 .changed a 20amp fuse but still won't do nowt
Great video Alan, I've got a question to ask, Ford Mondeo 2.0 tdci 2009 which has reverse gear issue. At times when in reverse it does not move at all till I get it out of gear and re put in reverse, would you have any idea what the issue is ?
Alani have a Ford Kuga 2013. I have the EXACT same problem iv ordered one from my local motor factors here in clare Ireland. Question is is it absolutely necessary to prime the vaporizer after refit as my own diagnostic computer probably does not have that hot function to prime that also is the a certain way to do a regeneration on the diagnostic as in clear fault first then regeneration or what ? I do not want to damage the car but at the same time i think I'm capable of doing the task myself. Thanks in advance ☺
you don't have to prime the vaporiser ..once it is fitted normally you would carry out a static regen on the dpf if the engine light is on permanently and can't be cleared..if it can be cleared then go for a good run down the motorway
@@alan4x Alan. Got the vaporizer done at the weekend thanks for all your help had to Get the Gas out to the Nut in the end. Would you believe the hardest part of that job was trying to Remove the bloody Electric connection on it I was nearly 40 minutes trying to remove the thing until I realised it actually released from the back not the bit facing towards you as your looking in 🤣🤣🤣
If the vaporizer needs replacing is it possible to swap out the entire DPF and vaporizer at home without needing any special tools to prime it or anything? I've just been charged a ridiculous amount for a new vaporizer and DPF clean and could have bought a vaporizer and whole new DPF for cheaper and fitted them myself for less.
you dont need to bleed the system after replacement but if the engine was in limp mode because the dpf had too much soot usually a static regen would clear that rather than replacing the dpf
Hello Alan and the viewers of this wonderful channel, may you please do a video or at least show me the position of the fuel temperature sensor of the mk4 2.0tdci mondeo. thanks
I had this problem last year. Changed injector/nozzle with a genuine one everything back to normal until a few days ago when again the P244c error is back. No limp mode, car drives fine but mil is on and cant clear it. Checked fuses in engine bay and all of them apparently are ok.
Oh Dear.. don't know if i have a problem or not! Got my 60k 2010 mk 4.5(?) Mondeo auto last July. Don't do a lot of motorway miles. Don't have any error codes but haven't had the engine running at high revs like yours did. Why on earth Ford didn't put some indicator on the display to inform us when a regen is in progress or due i'll never know
Hi Alan, did you prime the vaporizer? I replaced one in a 2011 2 litre Ford Focus and now the F48 fuse blew. Any suggestions from your side would be much appreciated.
you dont have to prime the vaporiser...sounds like there is a dead short in your new nozzles glow plug...disconnect the wiring to the nozzle and see if the fuse still blows
there is a little rubber hose that goes to the vaporiser...fuel should be in that pipe...you dont bleed the nozzle..when the car starts a regen a small pump will push fuel through the nozzle automatically
Hi Allon, I have a ford kuga 2008 tdci 2.0L, runs perfect when cold and hot, as soon as I turn engine off when It reaches temperature, car refuses to start back up, I have changed crank sensor, fuel heat sensor, the pump that fits on your high pressure pump and I have still got the same problem and I had the injectors checked, and they're perfect, it comes up with no codes for this fault, this car will not start backup until car is cool again, I can run all day in the car along as I dont turn it off, can you help?
My 2014 transit custom has gone in to limp mode so we put on the said snap on scanner to do regen. it was saying that the filter is 186% blocked. when we tried doing a forced regen several times it would keep coming up after about 5 to 10 minutes saying regen unsuccesful. other codes were something to do with glow plugs. would changing the vaporiser clean a dpf blocked to this extent do you think or would i be better off buy a new dpf?
the vaporiser must not be blocked or it will not carry out a full regen...check to see if it is clear and replace if blocked...if you fit a new vaporiser and it still won't carry out a regen then drive the vehicle hard for ten minutes as best you can in limp mode and try... if still no luck then there is an option in the scanner under special functions that you would click on if you had of replaced the dpf..i think it is reset or relearn dpf values...after doing that as long as there are no other issues with the vehicle it should carry out a full regen.....after about 40mins later when regen is done the snap on scanner may say regen unsuccessful ....but you will now be able to clear the eml codes and in that case it has been a successes
@@alan4x I bought a new vaporiser and we fitted it today. It wouldn't do a regen with the snap on scanner so I took it for a drive as you said. When I got back tried again, hey presto away it went. About 49mins later all done. Went from 186% blocked to less than 30%. Thanks for advice, it really helped.
I have just got the DPF in my mondeo 2010 cleaned and the vaporizer replaced. The only concern I have is that the car doesn't read the average MPG or how much fuel is left in the tank any more. All i see is - - -. It is something that I didn't experience before the issue I had with the DPF, is there an explanation to what causing this?
Yes I have tried a regen and I set her at 3000 after 20 min the revs died off it ran OK for a bit but up came the eng man light so what going too do next is give the car too service at cerveron taxis they have a lot of mondeos and skodas they have the tools for the job and me being 73 ? I'm a bit stiff for crawling under motors now now that my old fuison has gone too the big scrap heap in the sky
Hi Alan, I have a Citroen C4 VTR plus HDI 2.0L 2005 that had a new turbo about 2 years ago. I purchased the car after the old owner replaced the turbo. Unfortunately the turbo has only worked once and that was when I put some diesel magic into the fuel tank and magically the turbo started working and lots of power for only a few days. Could the reason the turbo is not working is due to the DPF being blocked and thus a loss of power or the EGR valve possibly being caked up with soot or just that the turbo has failed or has a blockage.
I’m actually sure it goes into the catalytic converter just before the Flexi pipe then when it squirts diesel out it goes down into the DPF that’s what it is on my Ford smax 2,0 tdci
Hi Allen great videos, I've got a 57 plate mondeo with a plethora of issues but the most prominent seems to be code p2463 is there anything else I should check before replacing parts aimlessly? Thank you really appreciate the help
Hi Alan I have fitted a new vaporiser and my mondeo is now regenerating again. Only problem is it wont stop regenerating. Its 2011, I have read on ford forum that early ones to be fitted with vaporiser need a pcm reprogramme.? Ever had this problem on any of your cars? Cheers
Just regarding my 2011 Ford Potato. I've put in another diesel engine in it. Now got the same codes as you on my Forscan using OBD2 cable. Without changing the fuel vaporiser, i tried the regen...... using this foreskin.... i mean forscan scanner. As soon as i press the start button, an error message instantly comes up telling me The DPF is to blocked to do a regen. Not sure if a new fuel vaporizer will allow me to regen afterwards or it will still give me regen problems because Forscan is as useful as a Foreskin.
not sure about forscam but on the snap on solus ultra there is an option to reset the dpf limits to zero which may well be your only option short of replacing the dpf but you could overheat the dpf in doing so
@@alan4x Yes i have that feature on forscan. But i get a warning confirming what you said, not to perform a regen afterwards as the dpf will overheat. But this soot accumulation is just a symptom and will happen again unless i find the cause. The error code coming up on top of soot accumulation is, P246B Vehicle condition incorrect for particulate filter regeneration. So i'm going to try changing the fuel vaporizer valve which most likely is the "incorrect condition". Oh and a grill error only other code (Actuator stuck, but not forcing the cooling fans to operate as per your other video) but cant see how grill error (grill remaining open) can cause the DPF issues. I'm in Australia, our winters are UK summers :)
the grille error won’t be part of your problem. Chances are the vaporiser is blocked with carbon not allowing fuel to be squirted into the dpf which has blocked it. It sounds very much like you can’t do anything because the ecu software won’t let you. A blocked vaporiser won’t stop a regen from taking place so if it were my problem I would reset the dpf values to zero and carry out a static regen. Another option rather than replace the dpf for a new one would to remove it. Use a long bar to knock out the filter in the dpf and then refit it to the car. Find a guy who carries out dpf deletes to sort out the software and then you’ll never have a dpf issue again. Better mpg as well. Only downside from time to time you may see a bit of smoke out of your tailpipe. 😊
@@alan4x I changed the vaporizer. "Unspecified Abort Condition" when running the DPF Static Regeneration. using Forscan. Forscan and Ford Mondeo are made for eachother and both can go to hell. Though interestingly, when checking the coolent temp on scanner it remains at 70 degree Celcius after driving the car so wondering now if it's the thermostat issue thats making the Vehicle to be in a incorrect condition for particulate filter regeneration. I just wished the Forscan scanner done what it's supposed to do and tell me why the heck it aborts the regen procedure rather than "haha i'm not specifying why i'm aborting it"
Strange the engine temperature is stuck at 70. You should have to warm the engine and watch the temperature rise to around 70 before it will allow you to carry out a regen. Possibly a faulty temperature sensor for the coolant or a software glitch
Alan I changed mine at around 97k miles. I now have 186k miles on the clock and I think it's gone again .. same codes as before and what you have on this video. Would that be in line to what you did here. Looks like 200k on that motor above so was it the second replacement?
Hi Alan Mondeo mk4 2009 tdci Coming down the motorway this evening I had a Dpf overload warning on. So I floored it to 90mph where a great deal of black smoke came out and since then it's been ok. What's your take on this as I do motorway journeys every day. Kind regards Paul
I had this problem when I first had my second hand mondeo but sprayed EGR cleaner into the EGR intake then added DPF cleaner to the tank and it cleared my engine management light and I haven’t had any trouble since! I regularly use this DPF additive now as I only drive the car locally and it is sound. 😀👍
hi there alan i am antonis from greece....i have a 2010 ford focus tdci 1.6(109hp) can i install a led inticator to known when my car is regenerates the dpf?is any way to do this? i dont have dashboard light when it regenerates
I've seen this video a lot of times before, just for my information. Driving home today, could feel it's doing a regen, nothing new...after a couple of minutes P244C exhaust temp to low for regen. I was just 5km from home. Could I drive another 40km to the garage? Without overloading it, so that I would not need a static regen. By then it will at most be at 150% I'm guessing...and I know it cannot do a regen on it's own when it's over 300%. Is this right?
you won't get too far before that dpf clogs up but you may be lucky...yes by 300% you will need a static regeneration just to be able to clear the fault code
@@alan4x thanks Alan. I actually found it to be at 43% load, even after the code. So it's not completely dead, maybe I can get another regen out of it, and not have to do a static regen by the time I make it to the garage. Any issues after the static regens? I've been told they are not good for the dpf life and should be avoided if possible.
Hi there just wondering if you could help we got a ford mondeo mk4 2.2 diesel starts up fine and drives completely fine for 15 mins the goes in to idle mode but no light on dashboard then if switch car if and on then it goes back to normal for 15 mins again thank you
Alan great another great video. Just wondering why im getting a smoke smell in the cabin of my 2007 galaxy its the qxba engine. And is my engine same as the one fitted to the focus 2.0 tdci barr ancillarys hp pump and injectors?
hi, thanks for comment. there could be many reasons to get smoke smell in cabin but i would check around the fuel injectors and see if any are leaking.... there will be a tar like substance around injector and it will stink inside the car. your engine could well be the same as the one fitted to focus but there are variations so would have to check engine codes to try get a match
Alan. This video is great. Question for you. I have a 2010 diesel mondeo. That regens every 12 miles and with a scanner plugged in shows the regen happening. Then no fault code once the regen is complete. Is this a replacement DPF? And if so how hard are they to fit yourself? I'd assume if you have to replace the DPF you replace the Vaporiser as well. Cheers Sean
I take it you have replaced the dpf by now? Changed the one on my dads 2013 mondeo but purchased the sensors at the same time as they can sometimes seize in there. It didn't take long at all 4 bolts and unplug the sensors and the two hoses and it was off
Further more Alan , I see on the 7zap diagrams on the 2.2 ..the vaporiser goes into the cat , so before the dpf .. And I didn’t know the system also had a cat .. so is the exhaust set up different from a 2.0 and a 2.2 ltr ?? Talk about ott on the Emissions... so it has an Egr to get clogged , a cat to burn out , a vaporiser to get clogged and a dpf to get clogged ... On a plus ..the 2.2 titanium x sport estate with 19’s in midnight sky is a sexy looking beast when it’s going ok 😂 I do hate the fact now , out of all the diesel cars I’ve had Saab , bmw. Mercedes .. Ive worked on all of them , with cleaning egr valves etc This ford is a total total no no to get to anything to maintain a good airflow ... I do very good motorway miles daily so I don’t expect this crap ...must be picking up previous owners short journey faults !
well, you know your car now lol...i not had a cat or egr issue at all yet so keep fingers crossed. hope your dpf issues are sorted. unfortunately emission systems are getting beyond stupid and now with this ad blue...what a con, anyway, thanks for your input, it all helps, good luck
alan howatt Cheers Alan keep up the good work on here .. I’m getting quotes for the crank seal oil leak now plus as it’s all off , flywheel and clutch 🙄
Recently bought a used Focus 1.5tdci from a main dealer, I do regular long-ish commutes to work but noticed the engine was never doing an active regen. Idle speed was fast and start/stop deactivated when the engine warmed up. Also the oil change light came on 2000 miles after a service. Ford performed a forced regen last week and all is fine. They emailed me the job sheet and no mention was made of checking the fuel vaporiser, I have emailed them to double check this. My question is, if the fuel vaporiser was blocked, would the forced regen have even been possible?
chances are you would not notice if your car was doing a regen, if that nozzle was blocked...if it is even fitted to your car or anything else was wrong that allows a regen to take place was faulty... your engine lamp would soon come on and your car would be flung into reduced power mode.......your question, if your car has this nozzle and if it was blocked...hell would have to freeze over first before a forced regen would be possible
I have the same Ford setup on the Puma engine in my Relay van. Could you please confirm that when you disconnect the metering pump you should be able to blow straight down the fuel supply pipe into the exhaust? I can't so I am guessing it is blocked solid but it is an exhaust off job on these vans to get the injector out so I am just checking. Thanks.
Really great video. Thanks for posting Alan. I have a 2.0 Diesel 2011 Ford S-max (so same engine). I'm getting a P269F - Exhaust After treatment Glow Plg Circuit/Open fault code on my OBD reader. Car isn't going into limp mode and seems to be running find. Fault clears itself but the then comes back on. My local garage are none the wiser (was in for MOT and service yesterday) and just told me to monitor. Fault light back on today. Although not in limp mode, I don't want to keep driving if it is going to wreck the DPF and lead to bigger bills. Any ideas Alan would be great, thanks.
HELP !!! Hi Allan We have a problem with a 2012 Ford C-Max 2.0 diesel. Faultcode P269F Fuse F48 burns out when we change it and the engine lamp turns on. We dont know what the problem is. Can you help us?
Hello Alan. I have a problem with an Ford Kuga 2010 4x4 140Cp. The error code is P0219 and occurs only when a hill descends and stop the car with the check engine. After a time if I use the car the error disapper. What can I do?
Hi Alan, my 2013 has been in with the mechanic today and he tested everything and all is working. No blockage in the nozzle, no vacuum pressure. The car is showing P244C. Car is putting up engine malfunction warning but no EML. No loss of power or limp mode. Car is on 160k+. Mechanic reckons Dpf is just fubared. What you reckon mate?
Alan , I’m back to this vid regarding dpf as looking for pointers .. remember , I said I had new dpf fitted , then failed , then new 5th injector.. Was all sorted .. question ... On regen , would I notice soot from exhausts ? I notice this every other week or and on the Same bit of road .. I comes out quite thick for a 30 seconds or , boot it and it clears even quicker .. Is that just clearing ash from regen ...not noticed it otherwise so don’t think it’s egr related 🙄
hi, it is possible to see smoke on a regen but usually not much if any...you are more likely to notice a pungent smell rather than smoke but it all depends how you drive and these cars need a good run down the motorway so to speak otherwise the vehicle cannot perform proper regens on short trips and more soot accumulates
Alan your videos are so informative. I have a much small fleet of seven Mondeos but your videos have been so helpful in keeping them up and running. Thank you and keep up the great work! Just curious if it is worth while removing these vaporisers and cleaning them out? I suppose the idea is to improve the DPF cleaning process if the vaporiser is not as blocked. I've only had one go but wouldn't suprise me if the others are dirty. Any thoughts on that idea? Or is it not worth it?
Hi iv got a transit connect 2013 and I had the vaporizer fule pipe replaced as it looked warn and also it kept coming Loose, however ford replaced it and also (inspected) the vaporizer, despite it being clean ... apparently. it kept coming off so a few cable ties and a jubilee clip later it was fine, now it's leaking diesel all over the place :( how much roughly would it cost to have the vaporizer replaced and a regen done in a garage? Many thanks Andy
hi, first off the ecu codes need to be read before looking at the vaporiser, a fuel leak does not mean the vaporiser is faulty, sounds like you need a mechanic you can trust to look at your vehicle
My car is a nightmare, I've got a 2011 mondeo estate and the engine malfunction light is on, I have no power loss so I assume my dpf is not yet blocked, I've driven 5000 miles like this with no issues other than the engine malfunction light. The error message is catilist temperature too low. My garage told me they need to remove the dpf to clean and fit a new vaporiser, the only problem with this is, firstly, my car does not have a vaporiser like Alan, s taxie instead I have 2 pipes going straight into my dpf that cannot be removed unless I replace the full dpf and secondly why would my garage need to remove and clean the dpf if my car is running fine? Am I being thick here? Lol. I have had my car into anougther 2 garages and neither can diagnose the fault, my car has now covered 150000 miles and I brought it with 145000 miles so I took a gamble here really but apart from this the car is spot on and was well worth the 2k I paid until this poxy light came on. Also this engine malfunction message can be cleared but after 300miles it always reapears. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
I find it odd that the dpf is put there to capture harmful particulats and stop them going into to environment, but then you do a regeneration procedure and kick it all out into the air anyway? Or is it less harmful when it's burnt up at high temperature?
most Regens i do i don't see any visible smoke from the exhaust or very little so i guess the high temperature during a regen is burning any pollutants away
Hi Allan, I had the engine sign come up in my 2012 Mondeo and took it in but they said they didn't have anything show on the analizer or what ever you call it but they put a new throttle box in . It hasn't done it since but I haven't been on a motorway since so I don't know if they cured it but I had them change the fuel filter as I didn't know if that had ever been done so do you think it could show up again. The mileage on the odometer is 115000.I would appreciate if you answer but I won't mind if you don't.
its hard to know why the engine symbol came up without knowing the fault code but a blocked fuel filter can cause all sorts, best thing is give it a good run and see how it does
How much would it cost these days fella for a Ford kuga 2013 just out of interest? I'd really appreciate an honest response from an honourable Man 😃👍🇬🇧
Just tried to get one of these off my ranger. I've had everything but the kitchen sink on it trying to crack it. Can't shift it and I'm not sure I want to go down the route of cutting it off.
you could heat it up with a plumbers blow torch which should loosen it but they are tight...i just snap them off and use a socket with a long half inch bar..not had one yet that has not came out but also i have not tried to remove one on a ford ranger
@@alan4x Cheers for that. Did try the blowtorch and plenty of lubricant but the nut is starting to round off. It's only covered 31k miles but unfortunately the fuse has gone and there's no resistance through the glow plug so has to go. I'm limited to a trolley jack for access however so leverage isn't on my side. I'm going to get it into my regular garage and let him mess I think. Cheers! Great channel by the way, really enjoying all I've seen so far!
never had any issues on the mk5 unless there was a problem like the egr valve was faulty or a turbo hose was split which caused the dpf to block up then a regen was necessary
Hi Alan. Could this be bad vapouriser? -GOING on motorway with OBD and forscan on, I can see in forscan vapouriser comes on and off every second or two several times. when it does this some other sensors like voost, turbo doing the same jumping up and down. Some times vapouriser will switch on and will stay for a minute or so then it will switch off and it seems ok. I took vapouriser out and clean it. It wasn't clogged up, fuel hose from pump to vapouriser also changed. Please help!! Car covered 161k miles
hello.you can tell me how I can activate the diesel pump from the fuel vaporizer valve and where the fuse is located. I have a P629F error. I changed the fuel vaporizer valve but it does not do the dpf regeneration.
@@alan4x once the new vapouriser is in, just done mine, will the regen process sort itself out now that that component is functioning correctly? or will it need taking into a garage for a forced regen?
Hi, Alan, thanks for the video clip, I've changed the vaporizer valve, but still can't solve the problem of my frequently DPF regen(there was no any error message, but DPF regen almost every 200km), I didn't do the force regen after the replacement, Do I need to reset the "Exhaust Gas Temperature Learned Value" or something else by using Forscan?
a forced regen is usually the best action if the engine management lamp was on due to dpf soot accumulation but the very fact your vehicle is doing a regen as it should without any error codes said to me everything is working fine, do you do much about town driving or motorway miles as typically a long run down the motorway is the best chance for a regen to take place successfully
@@alan4x thanks for the reply, I drive around 100km at every working day and 90% on highway, I used to watch a vid clip about changing the vaporizer valve, said they did reset something and did the force regen after the replacement, but they didn't point what exact it is, the mileage of my last regen. is about 500km, seems it is getting reasonable, I'll keep it up to date.
Barry Porteous is it tucked away like the kuga ? What did you remove to get to it ?
Would be handy if show next time how to disconnect fuel supply and electric plug. Would be bit more informative 👍
This has just happened to me ( 2013 Mondeo 2.ol TDCI Titanium X ) and I have got my car booked in with local Ford Specialist next week. This video has been mega helpful to show me what is involved. Plus a very funny man which is always a bonus
Thanks for your video I successfully changed mine today as I had engine malfunction and that nut was well and truly rusted on, what a nightmare 😅
Next time you're in Dublin I'll buy you a few pints 😎
thanks phil, excellent news😊
Still using it 2 years later without any issues.
thats great
only problem with that, is for a garage to do that it would cost more than what the part costs to buy, hour labour to swap new part or 4 hours to clean old part.....
Excellent tip. worth a go for any home mechanics.
Allen
Great video mate you a great machanic you talk and explain whats being done and fun to watch
You are the cool dude
Phil in stoke
Great Work Alan. Fitted new VAporiser and now all good. Thanks for the Vid! cheers from Downunder!
I too work for a taxi company, our transits have this problem almost weekly, we cut the long end shaft in half, drill out the carbon and Weld it back together. Same code is the initial indicator... conditions not met or temperature too low for regen
Alan thanks for your videos mate. Very helpfull. Hi from Australia.
If only my father is alive right now, he will be happy watching this because my deceased dad is a diesel mechanic driver so he can really relate to this.
thank you
Great watch.
Keep it up. Your help is invaluable trying to keep these turds on the road.
lol, thanks, many more vids to come
Forscan is brilliant for all fords.
Thank you
Sorry forgot to say your videos are really fantastic.
Thanks for the video. Used this to assist changing one on my Galaxy... 👍🏼 resorted to cutting the old one off to get a 22 socket on it!!! Bloody tiiiiiiigght!! 😯
yes they are tight i break them to fit a socket most times
@@alan4x what if the there's nothing wrong with it?

Al Man🤣. I really like your style keep it up fella 👍
Properly explained proper old school.
After cleaning this injector on my mk3 diesel focus with compressed air and brake cleaner diesel fuel was pouring out trough the injector. Is there a chance that i messed something up inside the injector itself
Before cleaning no air could pass trough the nozzle
Am i safe to put it back on the car
I am worried that i broke something in the injector.
there is nothing inside the nozzle so if it is now clear of carbon it is safe to put back on
Great video! But the part I wanted to know you don’t show! How do you disconnect the fuel line from the car please?
Hi, you made a video of mondeo mk4 1.6 tdci 115 hp year 2011. Problems , clean egr, sensors map,maf etc...? Thanks
Cant beat The good old British tea brake evey half an hour
Would you believe the hardest part of that job was trying to Remove the bloody Electric connection on it I was nearly 40 minutes trying to remove the thing until I realised it actually released from the back not the bit facing towards you as your looking in 🤣🤣🤣
@@huntman9485 lol, some of the electrical connectors these day are worse than a chinese puzzle, glad you got it all done
Thank you Alan that was good lessening
If the vaporizer needs replacing is it possible to swap out the entire DPF and vaporizer at home without needing any special tools to prime it or anything? I've just been charged a ridiculous amount for a new vaporizer and DPF clean and could have bought a vaporizer and whole new DPF for cheaper and fitted them myself for less.
you dont need to bleed the system after replacement but if the engine was in limp mode because the dpf had too much soot usually a static regen would clear that rather than replacing the dpf
Hello Alan and the viewers of this wonderful channel, may you please do a video or at least show me the position of the fuel temperature sensor of the mk4 2.0tdci mondeo. thanks
It's part of the Fuel pump (screws in the end plate) if it's Delphi?
I had this problem last year. Changed injector/nozzle with a genuine one everything back to normal until a few days ago when again the P244c error is back. No limp mode, car drives fine but mil is on and cant clear it. Checked fuses in engine bay and all of them apparently are ok.
Thanks very much for getting back to me I'll have a ask about for a decent and reliable 1 up my way
Would you advise going ford or aftermarket as ford are so expensive but don’t know how good non genuine are
i have only used ford nozzles so i can't comment on the aftermarket ones
Oh Dear.. don't know if i have a problem or not!
Just changed my vaporizer on transit custom not sure if fuel coming through lines how do you bleed vaporizer pump?
there is a little rubber hose that goes to the vaporiser...fuel should be in that pipe...you dont bleed the nozzle..when the car starts a regen a small pump will push fuel through the nozzle automatically
Nice video I’ve done a few of these on transit
How much do these vaporisers set you back I’ve just been told by a mechanic I need to get one ?
Hi Alan when your dpf,s are full of ash do you have them professionally cleaned it seems expensive but the only way
Brilliant.. Have all 3 of those codes. Tried Forscan regen 5x and it bombs out every time. How easy is this to do on a driveway DIY styley!?
Alan great video, how do you get the electrical clip off these.. It won't seem to come out of the housing
Check the injectors
@@alan4x thank you for reply. i will try this and i'll update you afterwards.
Can just the glow plug be changed rather than the whole vapourizer. Thanks.
yes it can if you can get it out, very tight
Does the 59 plate tdci mondeo 2.0 have 1 of these cant find it anywhere please help ?!?!
Hi Alan,
I have a Citroen C4 VTR plus HDI 2.0L 2005 that had a new turbo about 2 years ago.
Cheers
Hi, the vaporizer where get the fuel line? From a separate pump?
Looks like 200k on that motor above so was it the second replacement?
yes best remove it and see if its blocked, yes the same process as in the video
Hi Alan
Mondeo mk4 2009 tdci
Coming down the motorway this evening I had a Dpf overload warning on.
So I floored it to 90mph where a great deal of black smoke came out and since then it's been ok.
What's your take on this as I do motorway journeys every day.
Kind regards Paul
might be worth checking the 2 rubber hoses that come off your dpf are not burnt or split and leaking
Could you give the rest of us a short guide on how you did this please? Where is the EGR intake, how is it accessed, etc. Thank you!
cant you just clean the vapouriser??assuming of course you got it off in one piece??
what about mondeo mk5 dpf regeneration ...any information... video ... ?

hi there alan i am antonis from greece....i have a 2010 ford focus tdci 1.6(109hp)
can i install a led inticator to known when my car is regenerates the dpf?is any way to do this?

I've been told they are not good for the dpf life and should be avoided if possible.
does ''2015 mk5 2.0 tdci mondeo'' have this part?
Hi,my question- does using Supreme Diesel keep these parts cleaner or will the problem always be there ?
On a plus ..the 2.2 titanium x sport estate with 19’s in midnight sky is a sexy looking beast when it’s going ok 😂
I do hate the fact now , out of all the diesel cars I’ve had Saab , bmw. Mercedes .. Ive worked on all of them , with cleaning egr valves etc
This ford is a total total no no to get to anything to maintain a good airflow ...

Cheers Alan keep up the good work on here ..
I have the same problem. Did you find a solution? I'm starting to become insane at this.
I believe this means that your dpf isn't blocked but your vaporiser needs replacing I would believe

Or is it not worth it?
cheers😜
Yes they are really good
Hey dude. I was wondering if you know, I have a 2015 transit with only the p2463 code, and not any P246B code.
Could it still be the vaporizer?
the cost of that snap_on is a bit too much for me atm lol, what do you think of the cheaper obd2 scanners, like Autel AL529?
👍 Perfecto as always
Does it just heat the diesel or does it actually turn it to vapor? I’m thinking just heats it. I want a diesel vaporizer to use. Any ideas?
Hi iv got a transit connect 2013 and I had the vaporizer fule pipe replaced as it looked warn and also it kept coming Loose, however ford replaced it and also (inspected) the vaporizer, despite it being clean ... apparently.
it kept coming off so a few cable ties and a jubilee clip later it was fine, now it's leaking diesel all over the place :( how much roughly would it cost to have the vaporizer replaced and a regen done in a garage?
Many thanks
Andy
hi, first off the ecu codes need to be read before looking at the vaporiser, a fuel leak does not mean the vaporiser is faulty, sounds like you need a mechanic you can trust to look at your vehicle
The mileage on the odometer is 115000.I would appreciate if you answer but I won't mind if you don't.
its hard to know why the engine symbol came up without knowing the fault code but a blocked fuel filter can cause all sorts, best thing is give it a good run and see how it does
Hii, where can i buy a vaporizer for my Mondeo Mk4 Tdci 2.0l diesel 115hp 2010? I'm from Romania and I can't find it...Txh
Hi Alan, did you have any problem's with dpf filters on mk5 mondeo's
never had any issues on the mk5 unless there was a problem like the egr valve was faulty or a turbo hose was split which caused the dpf to block up then a regen was necessary
Car covered 161k miles
you need to be checking the codes stored in the ecu first to point you in some kind of direction where the trouble may be
@@alan4x all I get now and again is U0126 lost communication with steering angle.
Thanks Alan.
Hey alan another great video!☺ does the mk 4 mondeo before 2012 have that dpf nozzle?
Please name of the sensor for Ford Focus 2010 Diesel 1.6
hello.you can tell me how I can activate the diesel pump from the fuel vaporizer valve and where the fuse is located. I have a P629F error. I changed the fuel vaporizer valve but it does not do the dpf regeneration.
How did you get yours off then if you cut the pipe off after you removed it?
if you cut the pipe off you just undo the nut with a socket and bar which is easier than using a spanner
Many thanks for the prompt replies, tackling one at the weekend.
@@alan4x once the new vapouriser is in, just done mine, will the regen process sort itself out now that that component is functioning correctly? or will it need taking into a garage for a forced regen?
Great video Allan 👍
Don't suppose you've had any mk4 slow oil leaks / somewhere from the back of the engine hard to see 🤔 just thought I'd ask 👍
Hi Alan. Watching your video in May 2021 and enjoy your style very much mate. In future think I'll buy a petrol car. :)+
