- This was the emotional high point of the night. Brenda Lee was actually fifth on the bill. Nelson and Parton were at the height of their popularity, followed by Cash, who hosted, and Kristofferson. As the evening wore on, however, it became clear that her powerful vocals were the favorite of both the crowd and her fellow performers. An appreciative Kristofferson whispers "Sweet Nothin's" in her ear after this effort.

I think KK gets emotional n his voice cracks with emotion, so genuine n straight from the heart. Also he never overpowers Brenda in the harmony - what a class act. I can’t stop watching this performance ❤️❤️❤️❤️

my sister just told me to come and listen to this...I am not a country fan at all, I am a rock n roller BUT even I like this..now that I am older I notice I listen to the voices more than the style of music...very nice song. Kris has a different voice maybe not the best but Brenda brings out the best in him. I come from a family of country fans so I do know these two singers well...peace out

I love both artists. I have played this duet many many times and it is still great. Brenda also did a duet with Willy Deville if anyone has a video of it.
"You'll Never Know" . The recording is on YT, but I don't think they ever performed it together in a live video.
Where on where did the music go wrong? Flash pots, strobe lights, vulgar lyrics, nudity and plain worn out gimmicks today counts for music. Forget about talent. Hell that went by the wayside years ago. Thanks for showing the world what true sex appeal is without dirt. This is a beautiful work of art.

Time for some fun facts:
1) The songwriter was Bob Morrison. His most famous composition was "You Decorated My Life" , co-written by Debbie Hupp. It was a big hit for Kenny Rodgers.
2) He also got songwriter's credit for making minor changes to Johnny Lee's "Lookin' for Love (in all the wrong places)" from Urban Cowboy, although the song was mainly written by Wanda Mallette and Patti Ryan.
3) "Born to Love Me" was first recorded by Roy Orbison in 1977 for his Regeneration album.
4) Far as I know, neither Roy's version nor any other version made the charts. Please inform if this is incorrect.
5) This version, of course, has the gender of the lyrics changed in order for Brenda to sing it.
6) Bob Morrison is the only member of the Country Songwriting Hall of Fame with a degree in nuclear engineering. This explains the glowing radiance of Brenda's performance. : - )

Great song with meaning and the piano is a perfect accent, not to mention performance of 2 great entertainers. Brenda Lee is letting it flow so naural.
I've always liked the ending. The audience is ready to burst into applause but Brenda doesn't hurry it and keeps them hanging on every word "ev'ry night... ev'ry night....ev'ry NI-ight"
Mostly Brenda Beautifully written song from the heart. Kristofferson is also a great song writer and good at putting his emotions and sensitivity across with words. He recognizes Brenda Lee is delivering the emotion and sensitivity of this song and lets her lead the audience through a wonderful journey of feelings we all have at times. It is a soft tender delivery of pleasant feelings. She is such a talent.

@starr522 You are SOOOO dead on in your analysis of the music of the last 10-15 years! Personally I think acting has gone the same direction also. There are no more GREAT actors. William Powell, Myrna Loy, Carole Lombard... Even Cary Grant... Hell, he acted the part of lover boy so well he had the whole world believe he was straight! Lol! At least we have the good old standards of music on here thanks to some dedicated folks who are willing to share with us.
