    You can sprinkle cinnamon on the wound to help dry it a little, plus it’s antibacterial, antiviral, Antifungal, and last but not least it promotes rooting.

    Can they still survive if no roots come away with them?

      No, I tried… they just rotted away after 2-3 weeks.

    💚 Such a beautiful plant. But these suckers are HUGE, i've cut a 10 cm tall sucker from my uncles' big banana plant (with two long roots), and after 4 months this potted sucker is turning yellow, i don't know what to do. 😭😭

      Could be a couple of reasons:
      1. Lack of nitrogen/nutrition from the potting media/soil (likely if the sucker had grown since being potted)
      2. Roots haven't established yet (unable to take up enough nutrients to support growth)
      Hope that helps, feel free to DM me some photos of it on instagram if you want. Cheers & have a good one!

    Does it survive without the roots?

    I,m going to try a banana outside this year, direct planted. It is milder here on the south coast of England. Good video. As an idea for the future, maybe you could do a video of places in your local area that have inspired you? For example, local parks, orchards, allotments or friends gardens. I love seeing different systems or ideas from other Countries. I recently went to Madeira and picked up some great ideas and inspiration. Thanks Jacob..... by the way, what camera do you use for filming? I might get one and do some vids of my own! I used my tablet to film a couple of things, but it's not too great.

      Sounds great! Would love to direct plant a tree but we’re in a rental at the moment so containers are the best option. Thanks for the suggestion, might look into that a bit more as a filming option!
      I just use my phone, iPhone 6 hahah
      Cheers David, hope all else is going well!

    How long do you keep the banana tree in the shed?

    What kind of banana tree is this? The one with the red spots?

    Two mistakes, you should use quick draining palm, or citrus soil, and a little chicken manure never hurts..

    So I'm confused , So only Sword Suckers can only produce fruit and Water Suckers do not produce fruit ❓❓

    • @JacobsBackyardGardening
      @JacobsBackyardGardening  3 роки тому

      Yep, I'm definitely not an expert but from what I've researched that's it. Its to do with the different root systems between the two. Cheers & have a good one

      no . the water sucker just takes LONGER

    • @CaughtYaSlippin
      @CaughtYaSlippin 2 місяці тому

      Water suckers take longer, they grow slower. You need 16 months of no freeze to fruit

    I have 2 banana trees planted in different locations and are about 7 ft tall or more but has yet to produce pups. One of them is a rare banana plant that has the white and green leaves. What can I do to encourage them to produce pups. Had them from a pup almost a yr now. I have another set that just keep having pups all over but doesn’t grow much. Pls advise on what to do.

    • @JacobsBackyardGardening
      @JacobsBackyardGardening  4 роки тому +1

      Not too sure on how to induce the trees to create pups. I've just made sure my tree is getting plenty of water and nutrients and its producing a lot.
      For the one that produces a lot of pups but doesn't grow much, you'll need to cut off the pups if you want it to grow.
      Hope that helps you a bit
      Cheers & good luck with it all!

      JacobsBackyardGardening Thanks for the advice. I just honestly say that I don’t water everyday but can’t wait for daylight to get started. Thanks again.

      Well explained video by the author and anyway wild bananas of the rainforests have seeds and also large and have pups also . The seedless bananas are domesticated by man over milleniums and bytheway have very little , really very tiny seeds that are even not felt by our mouth . Cheers
