    We can also cut the old tree into pieces and place it around the new banana plant to give the new plants vitamin and minerals:

    It is very possible for a banana plant to fruit in a pot, I think the reason why yours didn’t fruit in the huge pot is because the pups and especially the big one that was growing next to it were taking too much energy away from the mother plant, you must remove some of the pups so that the mother plant can take most of the energy and eventually produce fruit

      He did indeed say you can remove the pups, but he did not say you should or must in order to get the banana to fruit. I read your comments before watching and listened to the whole thing specifically with your comments in mind.

      Your banana tree has pups sucking out most of the nutrients from the mother plant so the mother can not produce bananas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those pups should have been removed 2 years ago!!!!!!

    Can’t grow bananas in the ground here, only in pots. Our winters would easily kill banana plants since it gets too cold here but they still do very well in their pots and are getting big

    Mmmmm... I want to come over to YOUR house for dinner! ;-)
    Here on the Central Coast of Cali, bananas don't really stay warm enough (year round) to produce fruit, so we generally just grow them for the lush, tropical-looking foliage! This may be one of the reasons why some gardeners in your area prefer to grow the larger/taller varieties of the plant as well. :-)

      It probably needs more fertilizer. Also, remove some of the smaller pseudostems as they emerge from the root zone. They steal energy from the flowering pseudostem. I usually leave the 2 largest stems, fertilize using compost and a balanced fertilizer and mulch around the plant. Also, lots of sunlight & water.

    I have my little banana in a 12 gallon. While I was watering it weekly like you said, the leaves started turning brown like it was being over watered. So I stopped watering it so I wouldn't drown it. I use my water meter and it still reads as "wet" I havent watered it in weeks. The leaves edges are all super brown and its frustrating. They need water but not too much water not too often? So frustrating.

    • @domnichen12
      @domnichen12 Рік тому +1

      @littllemisscupcake You may find that you need to water when the soil is dry. You should test if the soil is dry every day or every 2 or 3 days, especially if you live in a hot climate. If you're growing your banana plant in a pot, you can test if the soil needs water by pushing your finger to about an inch into the soil. If the soil is dry, then give the plant a good thorough watering. Do not water again until the next time the soil is dry. Another way to tell if the soil is dry is to check the colour of the soil in the pot. Wet or moist soil is usually darker in colour and heavier than dry soil. Banana plants need to be kept in moist soil (not in soaking wet soil) at all times. Remove the pups to allow the parent plant to grow well. Happy growing😊🌱🍌
