Not to mention those sportys are really reliable and long lasting. IMO possible one of the most reliable long lasting motorcycles besides the Honda Shadow 1100. Thats a sweet bike!
Downeast Mainer here...that machine is an absolute work of art. As a 45 year old lifelong rider I just bought my first Harley this past summer; a 2001 XL1200C just like the one in this video. (Well, not quite as nice but still.) I put some 12" apes on for a more comfortable ride because I'm tall, and the previous owner had put on some straight screaming eagles, an arlen ness cone and rejetted the carb. She freakin RIPS. 😂 I've managed to clean everything up quite a bit since taking ownership, polishing chrome, polishing paint, and restoring the clean shine to the engine, and it's the most awesome ride I've ever had on two wheels. Everyone keeps telling me I'm gonna "need" a bigger bike next year; I just don't think that's gonna be the case. Gonna do a front fork seal job, oil change, and put some progressive rear shocks on over winter and then I'm gonna ride all over New England next spring. 😁🤙 I love all your content brother, you've earned my subscription for sure.
I had my 2001 XL 1200 Sportster for a couple years and sold it everybody used to ask me if it was an older bike maybe because of the big front spoked rim ? Besides I lost money for what I had into it, I really miss that bike !
I had the same bike in purple. Sad thing about the sportsters is they vibrate like hell because they're not rubber mounted. I'm on a 2020 Street glide now. I can ride it for days and it's like a damn Cadillac. That rear wheel is factory chrome. mine had the same thing. Most of the Chrome on that bike is factory because it's the custom. I just traded in my 2017 Dyna for my Street glide. My Dyna had the 103. Forgot to mention my Sporty had cam, carb, ignition, Hooker header, Screaming Eagle heads. You are correct. Ran like a striped ass ape.
Man it's nice, I'm 51&disabled but still can ride want to I'm trying to get another motorcycle I've been riding over 30years riding is like thearpy to me it definitely helps my PTSD last 2 years no motorcycle. Last few years have been hard I lost my land&home that were paid for my wife of 23 years passed away I became homeless etc I now live in a small apartment in Washington n.c I get a little retirement each month I'm looking to get another motorcycle &live my dream of living from my motorcycle make videos of where I go people I meet motorcycle maintenance camping etc. I tried to get a used Harley from a couple dealerships they said I need 2 thousand dollars a month income to get a used Harley with a payment of 150 dollars I don't understand. I don't owe anyone any money or have any debt of any kind not even credit card debt...such a beautiful motorcycle
Blows my mind when ppl who don’t know much about real riding sometimes dismiss Sportster riders as those just getting into riding or preferring this easier to ride” model vs the “big Harleys.” A Sportster is harder to ride well than the other models & can be ridden much more aggressively than the other models. This model can bite those who don’t respect it because it doesn’t drive itself like the bigger models.

I've heard Sportsters handle well and are fun bikes to ride. Wow, 1200cc. Lots of torque. That's a good looking bike.

Beautiful bike uncle.
Beautiful! I hope for one like that next year.
I had a 97' that was identical to this. Unfortunately the chrome on the primary cover was starting to bubble
I had a 78 xl for years they are good bikes

Is that a add on front cafe fender?
Yes it is. It’s a Harley part that was only offered for 3 years and discontinued. Btw this was my bike
@BYRRD Thanks man
@@todd8109 Todd, first off sweet bike, second do u remember what kind of handle bars were those and where did you get them from.
@@dakidsbac777 Thanks so much. I miss the bike but I don’t miss being a target on the road. The bars are the factory 2001 XL1200 Custom drag bars.
@@todd8109 I have a 07 1200c, I want to put drag bars on them myself, don't no which ones
She's a beaut Clark 😎
