You bet! However, the wood chips need to be smaller than 2 inches to start with. Note that moist damp chips are easier to mulch compared to dry ones. Hi! Good question! Only the chute on that shredder comes with a cover. The main hopper has a slide gate to close it off (for safety reasons). Both work great for the suction portion of the machine. Hmmm… interesting question. I'd say it's a little bit of both :) If you keep the blades sharpened, then the machine will pretty much feed itself as it goes through small branches. However, depending on the shape and condition of the wood (irregularly shaped, too hard/ too soft), then you may have to manually push it through so that the blades can process the material correctly. That particular wood chipper uses 2-inch wide chopping blades to grind wooden material to mulch. It works well for small branches but does require some maintenance. Where do you take a chipper when it needs to be serviced? There is a Stihl dealer near me but I don't think I have ever seen any chippers there.
