A 2500 usd build would be easy to make if its pure performance. Or even 3000 usd. Even at a 1000 dollars you can easily squeeze a rx 7800 and 5800x3d in. But it just depends. Console is for gaming or movie watching only whilst pc is for gaming, video editing, making video’s, it just really depends on what you wanna do. Also one of ps5’s main pro’s is that it’s just 500 usd and it’s obvious con is the ps network subscription. Same goes for xbox live and switch plus. PS5 digital is $400 brand new (or cheaper used). Meanwhile 4090 alone is $1600 + tax. To call this a huge win for the PS5 would be an understatement. It’s tearing the 4090 to pieces as far as the cost per frame goes.

You don't even need a 4060Ti to outperform consoles. You can do that with a $290-$299 USD GPU like the 4060, and you get Frame Generation on top, to outperform consoles by a long shot, and maybe even getting double the framerate with better visuals. If you want to match a console performance, you can go for a 3060, or an AMD alternative. These builds go for $500 to $600 (if you go for the 4060), and I've left those in other comments. If you don't like one part in particular (like the CPU), you can get another one for a similar price and performance. You're going to find at least 10 alternatives. Mouse and keyboard will cost you another $10 USD maybe, and you don't count the price of a monitor for the same reason you don't count the price of your TV. In the long run, let's say you play on consoles for 7 years? On PS5 those are $560 extra you have to pay. Games do cost a lot more on PC, so if you're a very active gamer, you'll save like $30 or $20 a week. If we assume $20, those are $7280 USD you save in 7 years. If you don't agree with me at all, and you don't know HB or what not (all the deals we get on PC, to get multiple games for way to cheap, or pay half the price for games on release date, or pre-orders), that's okay. Even if you assume that you just spend an extra $5 USD a week on consoles, in 7 years those add up to $1820 USD. Add the price to the console and PS Plus, and then you'll see how spending an extra $100 on front is completely worth it, IF you have to pay that extra money in the first place. Plus, it's PC, so you get access to a lot more games (emulators, Playstation and Xbox games + PC exclusives and games from any old generation), and you can do a lot more with it. You can keep reading all you want. You think PC consumes more power? You're wrong. You can have less or the same power consuption on PC. You think that offers are good on consoles because you see 75% discounts on good AAA games? Wrong again. You're never going to see the deals we get on PC on consoles. Buying games directly from Steam is actually not a very good idea. Now, I'll leave you with the original comment. You do know a $399 GPU like the 4060Ti can have those same graphics at almost double the framerate of a PS5 with a Frame Generation mod, right? So sad I had to waste 20 min of my live to discover that it is a lie. I searches for 2 walkthroughs with ps5 and 4090. Searched for this exact moment and did screenshots. Zoomed them and compared them. The ps5 looks indeed a bit more washed out compared to pc when you zoom in, but not like in this video. Here the ps5 is some kind of blurred compared to how it looks in the walkthrough. PC on the other hand is much more blueish than it is in a pc walkthrogh. I dont know if the author did this on purpose or if he did some unintentional mistakes while comparing but it is not what it looks like in this one.

You don’t need a 4090 to outperform the PS5. I have a Gaming Laptop worth like $800 bucks and it runs circles around a PS5 in a lot of games. It can run Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 at 1080p, 171 fps. No PS5 can do that.

My honest guess at what OP did. Screengrabbed PC footage himself, potentially at 8K, but I'm going to say actually at 4K, cause this footage regardless of compression doesn't look like a 8K base and even a 4090 would struggle to push 8K 60 on TLOU Remake. For the PS5 footage he definitely just downloaded a UA-cam video that WAS captured on PS5, however downloading an already compressed video will give additional artifacting (look at Joel's arm hair here, completely missing on PS5, but if you look up a 4K HDR version you'll see it's there and Naughty Dog didn't just skip arm hair for the PS5). I'm also going to bet the video quality grabbed was not 4K HDR, but somewhere closer to 1080 SDR based on the colour ranges. All that is to basically say, this is blatantly misleading. The PS5 version looks gorgeous. The PC version looks gorgeous. Sure a 4090 might be able to push a few slightly better textures or a more consistent 4K60 without any dynamic resolutions. Which is great, however given a PS5 is $500 and a 4090 is $1800 it's moot and honestly kind of a silly comparison. Especially since no care was put into preserving the PS5 side of the comparison. Before the incredibly insecure OP replies. I am actually an occasional PC gamer who uses his PC to produce and edit, videos, ads and films, I also own a PS5 for the exclusives. One is a system designed around high power usage across many different use cases, just one of which is gaming. The other is a fifth the price and just runs games, really well when you count for optimization, especially on first party titles.

The ps5's gpu is the rx 6700 non-xt, a ~$270 gpu, and gets overshadowed by the 6700 xt anyways which is $299. There's a reason why people buy 4090s, simply because it's the best GPU out right now. RT performance is the best, FG is an added bonus, and DLSS is superior to FSR, due to it being hardware based instead of just being a software like FSR. You are mistaken. Everyone does it on equal footing for the console. Meaning both are tested at 4K. Some reviewers even scale back or disable some graphical settings PC and you wouldn't even notice unless you watch their video twice. These playstation games should never look identical to games running on nvidia hardware. Especially with dlss enabled thats my opinion.

i got my PS5 and a recently bought pc (got 4 with my server) at 1100 USD (rtx 4070 and a 6 core rysen 8400F), I prefer gaming in the coutch but in matter of quality there is no comparition, the PC is far ahead. Check out my play through videos. I barely experienced any bugs. Reports were exaggerated. For two possible reasons either to discourage the developers from porting Sony flagship titles to pc or force developers to focus more on quality for future ports
This is something that's probably almost 10 years old talk, but: it's a shame we can't see how much better the resolutions look on PC. It's the biggest difference, in terms of graphics, but you would need a really good heavy video, and a 4K screen to watch see it. Well, actually, high refresh rate gaming is better than only 4K, and it's the one thing a lot of people have no idea how it could look or feel, but we are comparing graphics here.

No it's to provide a smooth experience. Most people don't like random drops when they're playing. It's better to lock it and keep it at 60 or even 120 but leaving it unlocked means that it will run unpredictably like on pc

A 2500 usd build would be easy to make if its pure performance. Or even 3000 usd. Even at a 1000 dollars you can easily squeeze a rx 7800 and 5800x3d in. But it just depends. Console is for gaming or movie watching only whilst pc is for gaming, video editing, making video’s, it just really depends on what you wanna do. Also one of ps5’s main pro’s is that it’s just 500 usd and it’s obvious con is the ps network subscription. Same goes for xbox live and switch plus. And the main pc’s con is its upgradability over time. And the main con is that its a hassle to build and premade pc’s usually have worse parts. Do note that 1250 usd pc has more performance. But it just really goes for personal preference. But i would say the ps5 does WAY better than a 500usd pc build. So for a 500 usd build. Just go with any console BUT the switch

PS5 digital is $400 brand new (or cheaper used). Meanwhile 4090 alone is $1600 + tax. To call this a huge win for the PS5 would be an understatement. It’s tearing the 4090 to pieces as far as the cost per frame goes.
It’s not only about which is better at a particular port. The 4090 is capable of much more than what the PS5 can produce. Think PS7/8.

Edit: BEFORE YOU READ THIS, I'm editing this, because I'm tired of answering the same thing. It's been over 20 times already. Below I've left multiple builds alternatives. You don't even need a 4060Ti to outperform consoles. You can do that with a $290-$299 USD GPU like the 4060, and you get Frame Generation on top, to outperform consoles by a long shot, and maybe even getting double the framerate with better visuals. If you want to match a console performance, you can go for a 3060, or an AMD alternative. These builds go for $500 to $600 (if you go for the 4060), and I've left those in other comments. If you don't like one part in particular (like the CPU), you can get another one for a similar price and performance. You're going to find at least 10 alternatives. Mouse and keyboard will cost you another $10 USD maybe, and you don't count the price of a monitor for the same reason you don't count the price of your TV. In the long run, let's say you play on consoles for 7 years? On PS5 those are $560 extra you have to pay. Games do cost a lot more on PC, so if you're a very active gamer, you'll save like $30 or $20 a week. If we assume $20, those are $7280 USD you save in 7 years. If you don't agree with me at all, and you don't know HB or what not (all the deals we get on PC, to get multiple games for way to cheap, or pay half the price for games on release date, or pre-orders), that's okay. Even if you assume that you just spend an extra $5 USD a week on consoles, in 7 years those add up to $1820 USD. Add the price to the console and PS Plus, and then you'll see how spending an extra $100 on front is completely worth it, IF you have to pay that extra money in the first place. Plus, it's PC, so you get access to a lot more games (emulators, Playstation and Xbox games + PC exclusives and games from any old generation), and you can do a lot more with it. You can keep reading all you want. You think PC consumes more power? You're wrong. You can have less or the same power consuption on PC. You think that offers are good on consoles because you see 75% discounts on good AAA games? Wrong again. You're never going to see the deals we get on PC on consoles. Buying games directly from Steam is actually not a very good idea. What ever nonsense you want to come up with, it was probably answered in one of the comments I've made here, so, please, before coming up with something related to cheating situations (consoles have undetectable cheats that are far more popular than what you find on PC), power consumption, "free" games, not having to pay for online because X game doesn't need PS Plus, controllers, comfort (just search "Moonlight"), etc. Keep reading, and you'll find an answer to your argument. Now, I'll leave you with the original comment.
You do know a $399 GPU like the 4060Ti can have those same graphics at almost double the framerate of a PS5 with a Frame Generation mod, right? Well, probably it doesn't need it to perform "well" (not 100% sure), but just to be safe, considering this is a terrible PC port, and not only that's a good way to be over 60 fps at all times, but also, you would eliminate stutters and have a great frametime.
This is not early 2023. Frame Generation is insanely good right now. You may consider that "unfair", but why can't PC use one of the things that makes PC gaming what it is? I mean, come on... using this game to make a price - performance comparison between PS5 and PC is unfair to, because in 99.9% of games, a PC with a 4060Ti is going to be so much better than a PS5 that it's not even funny, but we are using the worst possible scenario. Like, yeah, bad ports like Forspoken, Jedi Survivor, Wild Hearts, Redfall, etc, do exist, but, unlike The Last Of Us, they also run like sh*t on consoles. I've heard Forspoken got fixed tho, but, just because people don't complain about performance issues on consoles, and reviewers ignore talking about them, it doesn't mean they are not there. At least we have Digital Foundry for those who do want to know. I can't believe I don't see people complaining about Jedi Survivor on consoles. Same with Final Fantasy XVI.

Listen, the last time I've seen people trying to compare a great GPU with a console was back when the Xbox One X came out, because console gamers were saying it was similar in perfomance to a 1080Ti, and yes, some people also did the same thing defending the PS4 Pro, becuase it seems like no one knew what "upscaling" means. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know they are playing Final Fantasy XVI at native 720p either. Now on days, that GPU is a barely better than a PS5 and a Series X (almost the same thing), so, with that logic, is the PS4 Pro better than a PS5? Of course not. If you got a 1080Ti on release, that was a $699 GPU, and if this generation of consoles last until 2027 or 2028, what would that give you? 10, or maybe even 11 years using the same GPU, and part of the last generation having a top-end gaming experience?
It's as if there's only the rtx 4090 in existence. The 4090 isn't made just for video games.

So sad I had to waste 20 min of my live to discover that it is a lie. I searches for 2 walkthroughs with ps5 and 4090. Searched for this exact moment and did screenshots. Zoomed them and compared them.
The ps5 looks indeed a bit more washed out compared to pc when you zoom in, but not like in this video. Here the ps5 is some kind of blurred compared to how it looks in the walkthrough. PC on the other hand is much more blueish than it is in a pc walkthrogh. I dont know if the author did this on purpose or if he did some unintentional mistakes while comparing but it is not what it looks like in this one.

My honest guess at what OP did. Screengrabbed PC footage himself, potentially at 8K, but I'm going to say actually at 4K, cause this footage regardless of compression doesn't look like a 8K base and even a 4090 would struggle to push 8K 60 on TLOU Remake. For the PS5 footage he definitely just downloaded a UA-cam video that WAS captured on PS5, however downloading an already compressed video will give additional artifacting (look at Joel's arm hair here, completely missing on PS5, but if you look up a 4K HDR version you'll see it's there and Naughty Dog didn't just skip arm hair for the PS5). I'm also going to bet the video quality grabbed was not 4K HDR, but somewhere closer to 1080 SDR based on the colour ranges.
All that is to basically say, this is blatantly misleading. The PS5 version looks gorgeous. The PC version looks gorgeous. Sure a 4090 might be able to push a few slightly better textures or a more consistent 4K60 without any dynamic resolutions. Which is great, however given a PS5 is $500 and a 4090 is $1800 it's moot and honestly kind of a silly comparison. Especially since no care was put into preserving the PS5 side of the comparison.
Before the incredibly insecure OP replies. I am actually an occasional PC gamer who uses his PC to produce and edit, videos, ads and films, I also own a PS5 for the exclusives. One is a system designed around high power usage across many different use cases, just one of which is gaming. The other is a fifth the price and just runs games, really well when you count for optimization, especially on first party titles.

There's a reason why people buy 4090s, simply because it's the best GPU out right now. RT performance is the best, FG is an added bonus, and DLSS is superior to FSR, due to it being hardware based instead of just being a software like FSR.

You are mistaken. Everyone does it on equal footing for the console. Meaning both are tested at 4K. Some reviewers even scale back or disable some graphical settings PC and you wouldn't even notice unless you watch their video twice. i got my PS5 and a recently bought pc (got 4 with my server) at 1100 USD (rtx 4070 and a 6 core rysen 8400F), I prefer gaming in the coutch but in matter of quality there is no comparition, the PC is far ahead. This is something that's probably almost 10 years old talk, but: it's a shame we can't see how much better the resolutions look on PC. It's the biggest difference, in terms of graphics, but you would need a really good heavy video, and a 4K screen to watch see it.
Well, actually, high refresh rate gaming is better than only 4K, and it's the one thing a lot of people have no idea how it could look or feel, but we are comparing graphics here.
