Diolch yn fawr!!!! Love stars and star knowledge!!!!! The pictures of the constellations really add a lot to the video. .I love learning a language thru words that are interesting and have deeper mythological meaning.
15:38 The word "sidydd" (zodiac) has quite an ancient pedigree, as it's derived from "Caer Sidi", an otherworldly castle in Welsh mythology, referenced by the 6th Century poet Taliesin.
It may also be related to the English "sidereal" ("relating to the stars"), although its origin is more likely to be directly from Latin "sīdus" (“star, constellation”).
Great program.Diolch. Loved this. Try looking up Hugh Evans 's u tube channel Origins Of the Zodiac and his book entitled Star Maps of Gwynedd. Looks like the root words of the ancient Welsh language go back much further into antiquity than previously thought and pre dates Latin and Greek when describing the heavens and celestial movements. Hugh is an astrophysicist who has an interest in translating the meaning of celestial bodies using old Welsh dictionaries. It al fits so perfectly it's eye opening.
In SSPS phonetic writing via the GICSN and Read Cross org, the double ll sound in Welsh is notated using this shape...9 Have a look at the internationall phonetic assosiation alphabet and the shape used looks a little like a 9. 8 gets used for a similar reason for another sound..4 is used in French. First came across the ll sound via Nahuatl in Mexico.
The Dragon...had to add this...m.ua-cam.com/video/WuSCiJofGhk/v-deo.html&pp=ygUOUmFpbiBieSBkcmFnb24%3D Important for NZ - Australia knowledge an dare I says sprinkles of a south east asia in the not so far distance...bangkok thailand is 9500 kms to Aucland and more or less the same to London.
Love you videos! Diolch yn fawr iawn! One question: isn’t Llong: ship not boat? Boat being Cwch. This would make Ursa Major a Star Ship which pretty cool!
Why the direct translation of Milky Way ? It’s coz they stole the translation we called it llwybyr llaethog first ! Nice video thanks for the information . Diolch am yr wybodaeth !!! Peace out from the police state of north Wales 🏴

@@BenLlywelyn I read that Don, mother of Gwydion and Gilfaethwy was a Welsh version of the Irish Danu according to Caitlin Mathews.
It is a fair analogy.
5:03 Interesting that LLUN is also an old name for the moon too 👌
Good point.

Fascinating. Diolch. Also Caer Sidi has a northern feel to it.

PS: Diolch am y drafodaeth ddiddorol, gyda llaw.

Ursa Major is called The Plough in British English, Big Dipper is American. Yr arad follows the British English term.
Interesting. Maybe the Plough follows the British term?
To me, Llys Dôn is so much better than Cassiopeia. Now I have some new names for the night sky. Diolch yn fawr, Dan.

Llong is used more often for ship, but it can mean boat as well. Cwch is smaller, as is Bad.
