ANYTHING u play mate
The absurdity of 200 basses playing Primus at once. 😂
How cool would megalovania be with 200 people?
Innuendo!
dream theater lol
The real miracle is that none of them broke out into an un-requested slapping solo.
🤣🤣🤣
Davie504 was not invited
SLAPP
Why? They’re professionals. Not sure why you’d expect them to be dorks about it.
At the beginning they did tho
I couldn't imagine the amount of pressure everyone was under to not screw it up.
It was really "pushing down on them"...
As long as 175 of them do well then it can be masked.
You know, like in choir.
@@CharlesBerthoud A comedian as well !
I was there, since they where recording it we asked can’t we give ourselves one more chance?
Nah they were cool as ice… ice… baby?
Well, it looks like you've got all the basses covered!
True that, lol! But who's on first?
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE
@@dwightropp30143rd Base! (Bass)
Ow.😮
On what assumption is that bassed?
Just remember: every big production requiring precision 4/4 timing synced across 200 musicians in a big echoey room should always be counted in with a slow: "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO" (Y)
I'm sure John Deacon would be so proud of this performance. There were so many things he brought to Queen, an incredible amount of energy only matched by Freddy, and so many of Queen's songs. God Bless him in his retirement and for him to know he has given the world so much to love. Thank you for this amazing tribute!
*Freddie
I am a huge Queen fan and John Deacon always used to get a huge smile at the start of this song. Even at the tribute concert for Freddie. This would have made him smile.
Most famous bassline of all time? I thought that was "Another One Bites the Dust."
@@reggaefan2700 Right? Me too
Man I wish Marc Martel had actually sung this :P
The fact that I thought it was gonna be a different John Deacon bass line just shows how much of a legend he is.
Most famous bassline of all time? I thought that was "Another One Bites the Dust."
@@reggaefan2700
Although I`m a big Queen fan and both of those bass lines are superior... the most famous is probably Seven Nation Army.
@@Chiungalla79 Yeah that's a good one. But he played it on guitar though...not a bass.
@Dean Mitchell it's still in the bass range of the composition, it's a bassline.
@Dean Mitchell I mean, he used electronics to drop into a bass register... It's a bass riff.
You could never get this with guitarists our egos are too big and we'd be trying to out-shred eachother in a complete mess
Rhythm guitarists: 💀
As a guitarist, i can confirm.
@@IAmThe_RA So, me
But there are some guitarists playing
One of the rules of bass playing is restraint.
Their resilience to stress is remarkable. Seems they can all perform under pressure.
Why would something exceedingly mundane stress you? and even so i bet it took 30 takes to get it right without someone farting real loud or some sheit.

Good point.
You've gone from relative obscurity to absolutely rockstar in such a small time. And it really seems someone couldn't be more deserving. Awesome!
I just can't wait till he's making platinum albums! All he has to do is avoid the drugs that tend to come with such famdom.
We were here from David battle's man, it was lovely drive.
This guy is my role model as a bassist
The best part is not only as a bassist, but he's a wonderful example of a great human being. Nothing but love in this comment section.
I came to say the same, i love this man so much
This guy is a bassist as a role model.
He just seems so likeable.
Good luck w that. I'd start with some Nirvana, then learn how to play bass first, then solo, then this.
Amazing. The bass is such an underrated instrument melodically speaking.
Makes the music.
@@DC9417literally it had the job of the drums to keep rhythm but also the musical notes of a guitar and holds melody. Bass is the glue of music. I’m biased cuz I’m a bassist. But it’s still true. Lol
I expected it to be’Come Together’ but can’t deny this bassline is right up there with the greatest.
I expected the James Bond theme.
I was expecting In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.
This isn’t even Queen’s most famous baseline
I was expecting Billie Jean but this one works just as good
I was expecting "Another One Bites the Dust."
huuge props to the people who organised this event and mixed the audio - it cannot be easy to make something like this sound so good and they succeeded 1000%
its rockin 1000s. they been doing this shit live for years mate.
on the other hand you almost don't hear the 200 basses. Just Charle's loop or maybe one of the other bassists, but not the rest.
It's always seemed to me that they use one or maybe two instruments that they actually mix, and then use an array of room mics as background ambience that captures the size of it all, but if it was 200 basses playing at the same time, slightly off from each other at the same volume it would sound like ass. They also use a lot of reverb that doesn't sound like real, live room reflections. Probably to make the couple of instruments they use sound larger than they are.
@@pontusoskarsson7322 Go see them live.
and it was on the modernest stadium of South America
How could anyone not give this a "thumbs up" after hearing it.
I am so happy!! Queen, Under Pressure!! My favourite band!
Always love your work. Was a little skeptical that this was going to be 200 people playing Seven Nation Army. Wouldn't have been disappointed, but was happy to hear that it was John Deacon instead. Thanks for the feels.
Edit: also, ashamed that I initially thought you would call the riff from Seven Nation Army a bass line.
Haha I also expected it to be seven nation army 😂
I thought of Another one bites the dust, but none of them are wrong 😊
From Zero to Hero, you've done it all because you never gave up on Bass, even if it took years to gain more attention!
CB was never zero. He's always been honing his craft. A Ferrari under a tarp is still a Ferrari even when no one notices.
This is what happens when talented skills meets opportunity. If there were no skills, doesn't matter if you get tons of opportunities.
Most of us cannot determine when opportunities will arise, but we can determine our readiness, or not, when opportunities do come.
Hard work + Talent + Opportunity = fulfilment of destiny
Hard work beats talent when talent will not work hard.
This is exactly what a skilled and humble bass player is all about.
Absolutely incredible amazing job everyone
The lead player (Was that you, Charles?) was fantastic. Very nimble-fingered! Impressive rendition that truly does the original justice (And I don't mean Ice, Ice, Baby).
i really love how this comment uses the middle finger i must admit
@@trippwilsonphoto lmao!
Not long ago bass players able to play this style of lead bass were present but in lower numbers than today. Now, in 2022 kids in their bedroom are doing circles around the original great electric bassists. My original comment still stands. Very nicely played and you're a very nimble fingered player with superior melodic creativity. In another 5 years I can't imagine how good you will be. Keep yourself in the public eye. You likely sight read music. If you read in real-time then Wow. Keep doing that. It will surely add to your ability to earn.
@@trippwilsonphoto the middle finger indicates what you won. (Or more specifically, will lose)
We all know that the reason anyone remembers this bass line at all is because of Vanilla Ice and not queen or Bowie.
I never knew this is the most popular one, thanks, John Deacon, the bass Queen 👑
Yes!
It does help that this one had a lawsuit defending its copyright from another super popular song
It's not - unless you are old, white, and musically narrow-minded. In a worldwide survey taken 30 years ago, it likely would be among the top 100 most popular lines along with the bass lines from MJ's _Billy Jean,_ Queen's _Another One Bites the Dust,_ and Chic's _Good Times._ A survey from forty to fifty years ago would surely include the line from Ben King's _Stand by Me._
There is no "most popular" bass line in any fixed and worldwide context. Claiming such a thing is complete nonsense.
@@oscarbenigsen4538 Well put. I definitely assumed it was going to be Another One Bites the Dust. For sure this is a very well known bass line, but honestly not as iconic as those you mentioned.
Nonetheless, cool video with that many bassists participating, and nice chops on the lead.
@@PolishMuscle1981 *"Yes!"*
Which reminds me of Yes's _Roundabout,_ which has another bass line that in some surveys would undoubtedly trump this one.
Always loved that song. It said so much during the high pressure, corporate times of my life. It sounded even more beautiful
now.
That was just purely beautiful, in every way. Awesome job guys.
John Deacon, the most underrated bassist of all times. Thank you John for all your bass lines!!!.
Underrated songwriter too, gave us classics like Another One Bites the Dust, You're My Best Friend, I Want to Break Free, and Spread Your Wings.
@@mikaylachapman9036 You forgot the underrated song "Cool Cat".
@@imjelo Ooh yeah I like the soul/R&B vibe of the song, too bad the rest of Hot Space didn't sound like that, maybe it would've made for a half-decent album...
@Alan Brando no way, he's overrated not underrrated 😁😁
Most famous bassline of all time? I thought that was "Another One Bites the Dust."
I bet Frank Zappa could hear the one guy in the back out of tune…yet another absolutely stunning display of ability, taste and overall musicality. It never ceases to amaze me the kind of melodies Charles can coax out of so few strings…
Ahhh, another big frank fan. And you're probably right
" I Zappa Crappa."
This brought tears to my eyes. God bless these musicians I hope that there is some way that all of Queen can see and hear this and I hope that John knows how much he is loved and appreciated!!
What joy to watch this and it is a great example of team work!
That was so much more than just a very famous bassline -- it was a brilliant composition.
Thank you Charles for showing me that bass may be the most versatile instrument after all
There are some really neat basses in that crowd
Well done!!!
Seeing you get to this point after the beginning with davie's "pro fiver bassist" videos is so humbling and amazing. You deserve all of it!
This is delightful to watch! Charles leasing his own army of bass infantry! ❤❤❤❤
Congratulations Charles! You’re a big part of the resurgence of interest in the bass through your content together with Davie and the other bass-centric channels.
The hard work is paying off over and over again.
Davie was the first bassist that caught my attention, but at one time, he turned into a meme which wasn't my cup of tea, so I left.
Luckily, I had found another great bassist some time beforehand, @TommyLeeDepp, who was my sole bass torchbearer until the algorithm turned my attention to Charles. Now I have these two to satify my bass needs.

Great bass line, of course, but kudos to the engineers who made this happen. i am in a blues band and I know how tough it can be just to get four or five instruments set up.
Respectfully, I think "Another one bites the dust" is Deacon's most famous bass line of all time.
The look of joy on his face as he's playing is everything 😍 This is so soothing to my ears. For lack of a better description, it lays down all my internal feathers.
'Lays down all my internal feathers' - why did that phrase just reduce me to tears?
