  • London Northwestern's Brand new Class 730s have entered service. So far they're operating only Diagram 1 of the previous Class 319 diagrams but no doubt they'll be taking over the other two imminently so catch them whilst you can!
here's 730007 + 010 working the first passenger service of a class 730. these WMR branded ones won't be staying forever on services out of Euston, only covering until the longer LNWR branded ones are ready to enter service.
for diagrams please check my latest community post.
    Thanks for watching!

If you look on you tube the LNWR 730 units have been test running between Rugeley and Walsall for 4 months now.

As an apprentice technician working for West Midlands trains, I've heard they're abysmal from the maintenance point of view, even worse than the 196s. I have yet to start working on them yet, but I've heard most trains have teething issues.

I have a train driving friend who has 'passed out' on the class 730 and he tells me from a drivers point of view they are decent trains.

The motors on these sound slightly more audiable at higher speeds!! Interesting. I wonder what bombadier did to the motors . Sound better wish they were more audable though

Bombardier was bought out by Alstom in 2021. Though rights to a lot of their US rolling stock was sold to Kawasaki and Hyundai Rotem.

@UKTransport232 they still carry over from the same building methods and tech. Mostly anyways. Although the European alstom trains adapted and made into a UK train would probably be better. For example Germanys Talent 3 8442 trains . Using their traction systems and motors amd adapting it to UK sized trains and voltage would likely be better. They have so many trains and advancements in their trains relitive to the UK. UK take their time mostly.

Thanks. A second 730 diagram has been introduced now, and the third will be replaced on Monday, meaning all 319s will be finished after Monday morning peak. A shame but those 319s are worn out to be fair

@@AnthonyFurnival yeah so as far as I'm aware, there should be one pair of 319s operating still, most likely 319457 and 433, as 214 + 219 are sitting in Camden sidings with pans down, and 217 is at King's Heath. 215 has been completely stripped for parts and unable to work and 220 has gone off to an MoD base somewhere. Anyway, one pair is still operating during the evenings this week, I can't remember which diagram it is on though, so I'll post a separate reply if I find it.

@@AnthonyFurnival hmm, it's showing up as operating the 16:24 Euston to Tring, then 17:15 Tring to Euston, followed by 18:09 Euston to Tring, and then whichever follows, but I'm not sure. The railforums class 319 withdrawals thread is a great place to double check before you head out

Also brother these look really really nimble. Like light, sturdy, and they loom like they JET off. They have about 6 motors per 3 car 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣they must fly.?! Or maybe they are power limited to accommodate for 3 cars?

    MORE BORING BRITISH TRAINS
More cheap bucket market, glorified cattle truck, Alsthom "Clones". Why are British trains now nearly as boring as the really nasty junk on rails, you find in the USA? Take a look at the Worlds best EMU's in Japan, some of which even have museums on board, panorama windows, reclining & rotating seats, really novel designs such as a Trojan Warriors helmet for a cab front, etc...etc...
