I spent 10 weeks riding those roads . worked day jobs north of sandpoint . . It was 1982 before senior year . Over 10,000 miles in the tour , ending at Jersey shore . No cc, no cell. Maps on tank bag .
Damn, Tristan. This video hit on a personal level on three fronts. First, during World War II, all of the able-bodied men went off to war, leaving the Forest Service short-handed when it came to lookouts and firefighters. While still in high school in Chicago, my dad went to Montana and spent a summer on top of Sex Peak (yes, it really is named that) south of Trout Creek, MT as a replacement lookout/firefighter. The lookout was more a log cabin type structure, and he said it was a two-day horseback ride to get up there, so he was pretty much on his own. In 1993, I drove from our home in Chicago to Alaska, and I was able to drive to the top of Sex Peak in about an hour on a Forest Service road. The cabin had been replaced by another structure that could be rented out just like the one you stopped at. The second part of your video that hit home was the visit to Libby. My mom worked as a secretary for Zonolite, the company that produced the vermiculite and processed it in Chicago. On one of their vacations before I was born, they actually took a trip to Libby to see the mine. Decades later, doctors found asbestos in my mom's lungs and she died of mesothelioma. Lastly, just by coincidence, my mom worked as an administrative assistant at Evergreen Park High School in the 1970s, which was the same high school that Ted Kaczynski attended in the 1950s. Cue the "Twilight Zone" theme...
Hey Tristan, I've been watching you for a number of years and I just enjoy you and your adventures more and more every time. You are a wonderful human!
Love that this time and terrain is making you “grin ear-to-ear!” It has been a really fun change of pace and makes me want to visit the northwest even more! Such a sad tale from the mining town! Totally agree that it is truly evil that they knew of the dangers and sent workers in without regard for their safety and health. I hope that there was some justice served. Excited for Canada in next week’s video!
Spectacular footage of the waterfall with wonderful music. The whole video is so enjoyable to watch and to hear your explanations of it all!! Extremely well done!
Coincidentally I played guitar in a metal band in Toronto in the 90's called CAULDRON. We were absolutely terrible, but I still fulfilled my main mission, which was to meet girls. Still married to "the one", 33 years later.
Love the scooter content... I've ridden for 40 plus years... just pretend you're invisible and you'll be okay... if you think they're going to pull out in front of you they will... be careful! God Bless you and grant you His traveling mercies...
Back in 85 when I rode a scooter a pickup truck literally just passed me, then turned right in a fast food place. I had to lay it down, using my legs to kick the side of the truck so I wouldn’t go under it. He dragged my scooter under the truck through the parking lot with out realizing he even did it. Glad I was wearing my helmet.
The falls are amazing. Very mesmerizing. The thing about riding a motorcycle is your view is an open 3D canvas as you travel. The view is not blocked by roof and corner pillar post of a car.
I love your appreciation of numerous varieties of nature and your music and scenery mix is so beautiful. I am enjoying all of your adventures. Thank you for sharing all of it.
I really resonated and was surprised that you enjoyed talking to that couple. One of my favorite parts of solo travel is these kinds of spontaneous short but interesting conversations with strangers! I much prefer this waterfall with the rocks than the traditional waterfalls.
Dang dude, the scenery the way describing your journey is absolutely epic. You should be very proud of yourself and thank you for taking us along this is truly some of the best work I've seen on UA-cam thus far.
The violin music with the drone footage was amazing. Loving the scooter rides too, feels like I'm on a trip, love, thank you, might be my favorite vid to date.
I very much enjoyed the video, Tristen. It just goes to show you that you don't always have to travel far off the road or path to see interesting things. I look forward to your next adventure.
It might be where the Montana Hutterite community is, and if so, they manufacture children's furniture so it makes sense to ship it out using that bridge. And thank you Tristan for your consistent publishing of content on Saturdays, I am thankful to always rely on an adventure every week, yes you publish mid-week too, but its your saturday content I always watch.
I love the Yaak River! Your description in the video was right on. The story about Ted was also interesting. He passed away in June 2023. He was a brilliant Mathematician.
I didn’t think I was going to enjoy your scooter videos but I was dead wrong! Great job making me feel like I was riding with you, Tristan. I really enjoyed the drone footage above the falls with classical music. Lovely!
I'm enjoying your scooter adventure off the beaten path. The waterfall was epic and the hike, while somewhat strenuous, seemed doable for someone like me. Great job filming it all.
Most Yaak folks move down mountain in winter. Had friends who would put their kids an aerial basket and cable them across river to catch school bus. Hardy folks for sure
Glad to see you on two wheels, You may know this already about wet roads the center is where all the oil is from cars that's why you see motorcycles staying in the car tracks, also the painted lines on the road are very slick as I found out years ago. Awesome content Tristen you rock!
My favorite parts were the drone footage over the waterfall, your strenuous hike to the lookout tower, and you thinking we would be afraid on that bridge after some of the steep cliffs, narrow ridges, and amazing mountain tops you have taken us to. 😅
Love the Yaak, another great area to see, I was there only once during the early days of Covid when we were allowed to get out but keep socially distanced. Montana's 'wild and scenic places' cup runneth over for sure.
I enjoy your new adventure on the scooter! It must be fun to have this new twist in your travels. Safe riding and we are all looking forward to more life on the road!
Some really fast-moving water is fascinating. Thank goodness for the uni-bombers brother, or Ted might still be out there. Looks like a rather remote and wild area, I would imagine it gets a little chilly up there in winter. Enjoyed the video of this remote area of our country.
You never fail to find the most beautiful places. The views on the way to the waterfall and the waterfall were amazing. I LOVE LOVE clouds on the mountains and the shadow if the clouds on mountains. I'm traveling to my hometown south on Angel Fire, NM on the 18th and I can't wait to see my mountains!!!
Really enjoying the Scooter Series. It's been 50 years since I was on a motorcycle, and 25 since I had a scooter - watching you sure wakes up a longing for this type of adventure.
Loved this. I remember starting out on my motorcycle travelling journey many years ago, this brings back great memories of that area. I'll never forget how the pine forests smelled after a rain.
Love your view on the world while it passes you by on the scooter; looks way more 'engaging' than doing the same in a car. Some great aerial shots too: the low clouds over the forest & the water rushing over that big slab of rock (indeed very mesmerizing) :-)
I hope you didnt miss the Kootenia Falls. I know they are visited by many but the hike to the swinging bridge is worth it. Kayaker were challenging the falls. Recently a kayak flip above the falls. The woman died. No Lifejacket! Sad!
I've been to Libby and Yak many times. It IS beautiful, off the beaten path, and friendly. I have never been there when it wasn't cool and raining on and off.
I definitely agree that the scooter has brought you and the viewer closer to seeing the landscape up-close when driving. Your other videos of hikes and exploring out and about places where interesting too. I do like this series a lot better of being on the road, I look forward for more of these travels. Thank you.
Tristan, (hopefully I don't offend any one) but "Oh My Lord" those waterfalls are absolutely stunning, especially with drone footage. I live near Niagara Falls and that is better.
The town and valley of Yaak has became well known to a lot of people due to the writings of Rick Bass, a prolific author (both fiction and non-fiction) and environmental activist. He and his family have lived there in a cabin for the last 40 years or so, and he has written several books about his life there, including one of my favorite books, The Book of Yaak. It was fun to see you visit that area, especially since I've read so much about it in Bass's writings.
I love traveling "light" on my motorcycle, just rambling here and there with no real destination. I usually stay overnight with friends, relatives, motels, and sometimes good Samaritan strangers I meet along the way. But being on a bike and flying low over curving mountain highways is what is the most fun about it. The smells of the forest pines in the air, the scenery is eye candy, and the sound of bike pipes is music to my ears.
I'm so happy for you and the wonderful scooter adventures you are having! I hope and pray that I can visit Montana and see the overwhelming beauty you have shared. Absolutely breath taking.
You should look into ways to bring the scooter with you on trips in the Land Cruiser. Having a vehicle that only costs six bucks to fill up would be useful on some of your side quests.
The view from that fire lookout was amazing! I loved the drone shots and the music you had with it! I am really enjoying this adventure! That Yaak River was amazing! Everything was amazing! We enjoyed a scenic drive along the Kootenai River almost 2 years ago; beautiful! We went to the Kootenai Falls Suspension Bridge; that was fun! Looking forward to the next video!
Thanks Tristan, very beautiful. We’ll be in Whitefish in September and now that we’ve seen this video, we’ll drive that “loop” while the grandchildren are in school. Safe travels!!
Awesome footage. I've been curious about that part of Montana for the last 15 years and your video of it makes it better than I imagined. I've had quite a few motorcycles over the decades both street and dirt and I'm impressed with you tackling such a ride on that scooter. Of course you do a lot that impresses me from climbing all the mountains that you have to simply putting in the effort to see and do so much. You're doing life right and no doubt inspire a lot of people besides me. Longtime subscriber btw; it's great to see your numbers going up!
Hi Tristan: I love this one! I was born and raised in Missoula and I have been to that area of Montana a couple of times and it is a very spectacular place to see. I love your choice of transport. I have owned and still own a number of Honda Motorcycles. They are very reliable machines.
Traveling on a bike as opposed to a car is like the difference between watching a movie and actually being in the movie.
I know too many people that got injured, lost limbs, or died from motos, not a fan.
I spent 10 weeks riding those roads . worked day jobs north of sandpoint . . It was 1982 before senior year . Over 10,000 miles in the tour , ending at Jersey shore .
No cc, no cell. Maps on tank bag .
I absolutely agree.

Awesome cinematic filming of that gorgeous river
Absolutely beautiful area. All of it was my favorite part ❤️
Spectacular footage of the waterfall with wonderful music. The whole video is so enjoyable to watch and to hear your explanations of it all!! Extremely well done!
Yes, Tristen, this is an ADVENTURE 👌😀. I'm loving it. THANK YOU! Safe travels 🏍💚
Thank you for watching!
Cauldron of Chaos is a good name for a metal band. 😮
Coincidentally I played guitar in a metal band in Toronto in the 90's called CAULDRON. We were absolutely terrible, but I still fulfilled my main mission, which was to meet girls. Still married to "the one", 33 years later.
Good on you for changing it up with the scooter. Not easy. Thanks for the continued creative display of our world.
That river/rock was crazy! One of my favorite pieces of footage of yours!❤😊 safe travels
Wasn't that cool?? I didn't know if it would really come across in the footage. Really neat place!
Slowly getting to the point where I’ll be healthy enough for some of those hikes is always enjoyable.
Love the scooter content... I've ridden for 40 plus years... just pretend you're invisible
and you'll be okay... if you think they're going to pull out in front of you they will... be careful!

Gorgeous view from the fire watch tower! It reminds me of the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon.
Very cool waterfall and examples of physics, turbulent and laminar flow. Absolutely would love to see you adventure to Cabinet mountains!
Thank you for bringing us along! Fantastic waterfall.
I really resonated and was surprised that you enjoyed talking to that couple. One of my favorite parts of solo travel is these kinds of spontaneous short but interesting conversations with strangers! I much prefer this waterfall with the rocks than the traditional waterfalls.
Good morning! Enjoying this adventure 100%! The beauty makes my heart sing 🎶
Thank you Lois!
I’d like to see a video on the Cabinet Mountains. But, I like watching all your videos. Beautiful scenery!
Beautiful waterfall! The structure of the riverbed is fascinating.
What a contrast from your adventures in the Southwest! Beautiful! Thanks for setting my weekend mood!
Thank you again for bringing us along on another adventure Tristan.
Dang dude, the scenery the way describing your journey is absolutely epic. You should be very proud of yourself and thank you for taking us along this is truly some of the best work I've seen on UA-cam thus far.
Favorite part is the waterfall. But the POV scooter footage is great too.
The violin music with the drone footage was amazing. Loving the scooter rides too, feels like I'm on a trip, love, thank you, might be my favorite vid to date.
Same here - even though I love all his videos of the deserts in the southwest & west - I think this is my favorite video of all of his!!!!
I very much enjoyed the video, Tristen. It just goes to show you that you don't always have to travel far off the road or path to see interesting things. I look forward to your next adventure.
Love those falls. Very pretty
Yes everything on a motorcycle or scooter is always slower than a vehicle when getting off or on. Thanks for video it is absolutely beautiful. 😮
Actually it's an Amish community. They have a log home building business and the women sell beautiful patch work quilted blankets.
So, so awesome! That river was so incredible and mesmerizing! Loving your journey!
I love the Yaak River! Your description in the video was right on. The story about Ted was also interesting. He passed away in June 2023. He was a brilliant Mathematician.
Thank you for the video
I didn’t think I was going to enjoy your scooter videos but I was dead wrong! Great job making me feel like I was riding with you, Tristan. I really enjoyed the drone footage above the falls with classical music. Lovely!
Nature at its best. Great video. Your smile proves to your enjoyment. Ride on!!!
The Yahk River flows in British Columbia also but we spell it differently. Nancy
Your videos are always great but these scooter videos are really special.
This video was so fun to watch. Glad the check oil light was a faulty issue. Safe, safe travels! (The music choices were perfect for the scenery.)
That river with the many falls; was exquisite; thanks Tristan 🤩😎⭐️
Your adventures are ALWAYS fun but it's so fun to see YOU having so much fun!!

What a beautiful place. I have never heard over the cabinet mountains. And there's so much bigger than anything we have here in New England
Lived in Whitefish and Libby...miss the area . Thank you for reminding me of the beauty and wilderness.
Like to see the wildflowers since it’s that time of year. Great video as always! Very different.
Do you happen to know what those purple-ish wildflowers are?! So beautiful - never seen that kind before!
Photos are gorgeous!
Love the Yaak, another great area to see, I was there only once during the early days of Covid when we were allowed to get out but keep socially distanced. Montana's 'wild and scenic places' cup runneth over for sure.
We visit that whole area almost every year and have been on all of those roads many times. You nailed it... lovely remote plus.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this trip!
It is so beautiful. I have always loved Montana. The water fall was epic. Safe travels. Thanks so much.
I enjoy your new adventure on the scooter! It must be fun to have this new twist in your travels. Safe riding and we are all looking forward to more life on the road!

I'm traveling to my hometown south on Angel Fire, NM on the 18th and I can't wait to see my mountains!!!
This adventure of yours definitely makes me crave a scooter (and the time..), gorgeous drive and epic hikes as always!!
“It doesn’t lead to much of anything, but it’s a nice drive.”
- exactly
You’ve got a future in this business!
I love your videos! You do a marvelous job!
Really enjoying the Scooter Series. It's been 50 years since I was on a motorcycle, and 25 since I had a scooter - watching you sure wakes up a longing for this type of adventure.
AWESOME recent episode Tristen! FABULOUS cinematography with your drone camera! Just LOVE your channel and adventures!! 👍🌅🏞️🛵🙂
Loved this. I remember starting out on my motorcycle travelling journey many years ago, this brings back great memories of that area. I'll never forget how the pine forests smelled after a rain.
The Yaak is best on two wheels in my opinion. So glad you are enjoying it as much as I have in the past. Cheers.
Yes. I'm enjoying every minute of it. Your adventure is putting a fire in my belly.
Love your view on the world while it passes you by on the scooter; looks way more 'engaging' than doing the same in a car. Some great aerial shots too: the low clouds over the forest & the water rushing over that big slab of rock (indeed very mesmerizing) :-)
It definitely feels more engaging in person, too! You feel much more connected to the landscape when traveling like this.
It would be fun to see you and Cassie rent one of those fire lookouts in a future video. Nancy
I hope you didnt miss the Kootenia Falls. I know they are visited by many but the hike to the swinging bridge is worth it. Kayaker were challenging the falls. Recently a kayak flip above the falls. The woman died. No Lifejacket! Sad!
Always enjoy a good travel video from you. Glad you’re enjoying the trip, the views are delightful indeed!
Good morning! What a view to start the day😊👍🏻🙋🏼♀️
Thanks Sharon!
John Denver sang Wild Montana Skies. Now I know what he meant. Another wonderful video. Thank you.
John's voice and advocacy is missed.
I've been to Libby and Yak many times. It IS beautiful, off the beaten path, and friendly. I have never been there when it wasn't cool and raining on and off.

I've hiked in the area several times over the years, it's stunningly beautiful. I've seen grizzly sign a couple times so keep an eye out.
Glad you’re enjoying your new way of life so far so good not too shabby. You deserve it Tristan.
I loved Libby. Floated the river at two different years fishing all the way.
Keep the adventure going! Great shots of the falls, too. So happy to follow along on this adventure. Thanks, Tristan.
Tristan, (hopefully I don't offend any one) but "Oh My Lord" those waterfalls are absolutely stunning, especially with drone footage. I live near Niagara Falls and that is better.
Absolutely wonderful video. I live in Michigan and those gray days have their own charm. Loved the clouds over the mountains! Blessings ❤
Really enjoying this trip and we can see you are too!
So enjoying this scooter adventure! ❤❤❤ the Yaak River and falls!

I read the book of Yaak about 25 or thirty years ago. Good stuff.

Thanks for the video. Beautiful scenery.
Very fun and beautiful trip. Your enthusiasm is contagious.
You should look into ways to bring the scooter with you on trips in the Land Cruiser. Having a vehicle that only costs six bucks to fill up would be useful on some of your side quests.
That's what we like about our Tesla. We charge at home most of the time. Like the scooter, dirt roads are not good. Would love the SUV Model Y.
Clouds on the mountains. I lived in southeast Alaska for 12 years, that's pretty much how it looks every day...
Nice adventure Tristan. Those clouds hugging the mountains and everything being wet from the rain looks lovely. I bet it smelled good too.
Great adventure. I really love the scooter and how you can really discover all the aspects of the trek.
Thank you and keep 'em coming.
Wow, The view from the tower is incredible! Thanks for not passing it by. We’re enjoying this new form of adventure travel. Glad the bike is ok.
Thanks for featuring my area and lifelong town and telling the world our story.
Safe travels.
Wow !!! What an epic trip to use that word !! Great footage and love the back story you include ,,, Well done and safe travels as always !!
Thanks Tristan, very beautiful. We’ll be in Whitefish in September and now that we’ve seen this video, we’ll drive that “loop” while the grandchildren are in school. Safe travels!!
22:50-24:20 mark: I love the musical score you chose to go along with that drone footage. Very fitting and beautiful (music and footage alike). 💯
The drone footage of the waterfall was awesome! A great addition to your gear.
I love it, "Let me explain." 🤣 That is the most unusual waterfall I've ever seen. A place I've got to see in person!
Hi Tristan: I love this one! I was born and raised in Missoula and I have been to that area of Montana a couple of times and it is a very spectacular place to see. I love your choice of transport. I have owned and still own a number of Honda Motorcycles. They are very reliable machines.
