    I've owned that same model of Kmise banjolele for a couple of years now. Generally very happy with it, but did change the bridge for a lower one to make the action super-fast (cost around £5). For the modest purchase price, it's a great little instrument!

    Hi Steve what a coincidence my Kimise banjo ukulele arrived today just unboxed it .
    I have just started play a Tenor ukulele during this lockdown period, and started putting videos on Instagram,
    just learning but i made similar minded friends world wide.
    I will recommend you to my friends on line and ask them to follow you for your brilliant Reviews.

    If it's too loud, any drum shop will have foam tape that you can put on the head, to reduce the resonance. A little bit goes a long way toward quieting a drum -- and that "banjo uke" is just a drum, excited by strings strung across the head. Window-caulking adhesive foam tape works, too.

    That is the lovely instrument. I’m a big fan of banjo ukuleles.

      Me too. I wish this came in a longer scale. I guess I will have to build one ;-)

      I want to build a tenor banjolele myself. I’ve been looking for a suitable hand drum for a awhile. All of the ones I see either look too flimsy, or are to expensive.

      I have acquired some big cookie tins that I plan to eventually turn into some kind of banjos. You want to try something like that first. I would love to track down a gourd to turn into a banjo.

      Steve's Strings Steve, I have purchased amazing gourds suitably for banjos or banjo ukuleles or regular ukuleles from Welburn Gourd Farm outside of Fallbrook, CA. Thousands of shapes and sizes to choose from . I have purchased several myself. You can ask for exact dimensions and they will ship.

    Great review Steve, thank you very much. It makes me wonder how they can make and ship them for that price! It's amazing, but to our benefit. I'm gonna get one! Take care, 🎸🎶🇬🇧

    Hi Steve, Do you think you could swap the strings to DGBE for a tenor banjolele (Pepe Romero Baby Baritone strings) and that it would sound OK? Thoughts appreciated. Cheers

    Can left handed people play this? I just recently found your channel and I enjoy it!

      Thanks! Yes, you can restring it for left handed players.

      @@stevesstrings5243 I’ve never played an instrument before and was thinking of buying this one. To restring it is it easy to do that? I’m sorry if that’s a stupid question.

    • @stevesstrings5243
      @stevesstrings5243  3 роки тому +1

      Yes. It is easy to restring. You may have to widen the string slots in the nut but you will probably get away with just moving the strings.

    Hi Steve, just wondering, around where I am they are recommending the Amahi Banjolele. Do uou have any thoughts regarding it and the Kmisie. Also, is there any problem stringing for the left hand... any modifications needed? Thanks.

    • @stevesstrings5243
      @stevesstrings5243  3 роки тому +1

      I have not seen an Amahi banjolele in person, so I do not have means of comparison. Restringing a banjolele to make it left handed in not a problem. The only thing you may need to do is widen some string slots in the nut. Let me know what you decide upon and how it turns out!

    Ebay have one as a kit for 55GBP but is it suitable for playing Formby style? Sounds more like a banjo than anything else.

    • @stevesstrings5243
      @stevesstrings5243  2 роки тому +1

      Formby played a banjolele so I imagine this one would be suitable for that style of playing. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Nice review! I recently bought one of these and the neck actually moves. Do you know if that’s a defect or if there’s any way to fix that?

    • @stevesstrings5243
      @stevesstrings5243  3 роки тому

      The neck is a "bolt-on" neck. It sounds like the nut holding the neck in place has come loose. That's probably an easy fix. Just remove the screws from the back plate to access the inside of the pot. This will give you access to the loose nut. It may be that all you need to do is tighten the nut that holds the neck to the pot. You will also see the banjo has coordinating rod. That might also need some adjustment. Here is a link to a video that describes it: ua-cam.com/video/ST-vcy2dPSE/v-deo.html
