Captain America is honestly doing very well in terms of omnibuses, especially compared to Iron Man.
The standard edition cover is truly the only choice.
It is a great cover but looking at my floppy of that issue the omni looks over saturated or too bright. I enjoy original colors but it doesn't look colored correctly.
I wish Captain America was real, we need him in todays world.
This. I have become such a Cap fan lately, and I can’t help to think is because today’s toxic political climate.
At long last it's here. Although I've never read any of the material in this omnibus, it's been my most wanted omni for a couple of years now, purely because of how lovingly you spoke about this run. It's the same way you spoke about Claremont's X-Men, Waid's Fantastic Four and Peter David's Hulk. I had read the former two runs before but picked up and read the latter's omni's for the very same reason and neither they nor you let me down. So I cannot wait to get my hands on this. I just hope Marvel don't make us wait years for volume 2!
This is the greatest Cap run of all time.
I have triple dipped: original issues, Epics, and now Omni.
No other writer has gotten into Cap's mind like Mark Gruenwald. So, do yourself a favor and buy it!
So glad I’m not the only one!!!
Mark gruenwald cap run is the best ❤
This and the Mark Waid Cap Omni are some of my most wanted omnis
Thanks for the shout out, Omar. What a great review!! Paul Neary was such a great guy, too!
Another thing about Gruenwald is that he wasn't trying to make Cap "cool" as the approach maybe certain other writers might perhaps take to a degree. Because he already saw him as a cool, stand up wholesome guy and I absolutely love that.
You don't have "try to make him cool" because he already is cool.
Mark Gruenwald is one of the most important Cap creators ever.
I've read a handful of Marks Cap run and it was legitimately so good I've been waiting for something like this to just take a bite out of his work at once, definitely keeping my eyes peeled for this one
This is seriously fu•••ng EPIC!!!!
Preordered the dm, my most anticipated omnibus of the year...bring on vol.2!
You do an amazing job of giving even coverage to all of these runs but when you prepare a video for a Beloved Run it really shines. Excellent coverage!
Looking forward to getting this, really loved what I've read from Gruenwald's Cap run.
Thanks for the review 👍🏼 We’re I live I can only get the standard edition covers. So pleased it is that one 😀
This time the DM cover got no love. Everyone will get the standard cover
Zeck has so many awesome covers and Neary has some good ones too, the DM was an odd choice
You had me at "an android in a barn!" Just kidding, I pre-ordered awhile ago. I am disappointed that more letters pages weren't included as there were interesting discussions on those pages.
I really wish they used the cover of Captain America 332 instead of this one.
I remember reading the later story-arcs, involving cross-over adventures with Captain America, Falcon, & Battle-Star, as well as their various confrontations with the Serpent Society & the Skeleton Crew. Good times. Thanks for covering this Omnibus.
Fully collected in epics, can't justify buying for a second time.
Fantastic! I recently started reading Gruenwald’s Squadron Supreme and can’t wait to dive into this tome! Hope they collect the rest of it sooner rather than later.
Eagerly awaiting this omni to arrive!
The definitive Cap run
CAN'T WAIT to get this!
Can't wait to get this one!
I've been waiting for this one. Love the Wolverine cover!
Will be aiming to grab this one
I'm going to have to pick this book up at some point because this has the creation of the Serpent Society stuff. I hope Volume 2 covers the Streets of Poison stuff.
I can’t wait to finally have this one in my hands!! I would also love a DeMatteis Cap collection!!
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!
I’m excited to pick up this vol. How many volumes do you think we’ll get to complete the run?
I love Marvel 1980s, definite buy.
Finally! One of the best Omnies released this year! Hope more volumes will follow soon! Going with standard cover for sure
Waiting to get this will be the longest 3 weeks ever
Was he not credited on the squadron supreme omnibus?
Oh man, love this run so much. The only time of my life I stopped buying comics was after that NO MORE issue, so sad I was, thinking Steve Rogers was done forever. Beautiful times, and it was right after Under Siege arc on Avengers.
Now, I dont understand why they used this cover both on Omnibus and on Epic. Its a great cover but issue 332 cover is much more fitting to the arc, I would even choose #327 instead of this. Whats your opinion Omar?
Love this run, just read it for the first time in epic format and it's certainly one of the best Cap runs.
To me, the top 4 best (in no order) will always be
Lee/Kirby/Steranko
Englehart/Buscema
Gruenwald
Brubaker
But what I especially love in this run is that at one point I realized how Gruenwald more than any other writer for whatever reason, made Cap feel like a big brother who's always willing to help and give you advice and support you.
Another thing I love is US Agent, I wasn't expecting to like him as much as I did, but I did lol. Such a great character that he gradually infused with sympathy and pathos. John himself gradually acted and conducted himself as Cap would but still has his own edge and sensiblities (not to say that Cap doesn't have an edge or can't have an edge which he definitely can at times but yeah lol)
*I mean regardless Cap always has the fighting edge/instinct at the ready anyways lol
I wish the cover for #332 (Captain America No More) had been used for the DM cover.
Agreed. I don't understand the vetting process for cover selection at Marvel. I have the Conan Comic run and 3 straight months they used a red background cover for the DM. All sucked in my opinion.
Is this before or after the Waid run? I’ve read all available Cap omnis, so I’m definitely getting this one.
Before
Thank you.
Chat what is the best format for this Omnibus or Epics? If more Omni Volumes come down the road might some issues be skipped?
Can't wait get mine. How many Omnis will it take to complete Grunwald's run?
Probably four
The only reason im not gonna get this book because someone told me this run is going to be a 3- 4 Omni run so I’m just gonna wait it. But it looks good.
Aw man i already completed Gru's run in Epic format but this book is beautiful what to do!?!? :D
and Serpent Society, Caps new girlfriend, Nomad... I started Cap at #306. I used to think Madcap was going to be a secret origin to Deadpool.
I'm surprised this didn't come out when the sidekick series came out. Loved the sidekicks in the car moment during the movie, but just wished they coulda fit Nomad in there too.
Love this run! Not sure why some of those Marvel Fanfare issues were included.
Is that cap annual with wolverine collected in the wolverine omnis ?
It's in Wolverine Omnibus vol. 1, I believe. A book that sorely needs a reprint.
@@loganwayne6411 oh yeah thanks now I checked, I am sure it will be reprinted witihin a year
@@deanwinchester4778 I hope so!
I was going to wait for the epics to hit up this run better BUT seeing this Omnibus has weakened my resolve. I may have to go with the omnis.
Was on the fence of buying it. Big Cap Fan. But this book is sadly too big for my taste. 1000 pages give or take is my limit. 1336 not so much. And you can see the thin paper very clearly, artwork from the back bleeding through. This is very important for classic material where there is lots of white space. Will have to wait for the Masterworks to catch up.
Such a shame that they decided to correct the printing error from 308
Such a shame tjat the letter pages are not included. But at least the letter page from 312 is included about 308 printing error and my name was on that letter page sò super hyped about that.
Will still be picking up the standard edition which i'll imagine will sell out if not all Ready has
Issue # 333 would have been a better DM cover.
Is this bronze or 80s age capt america? I like it
It's more modern age, or copper age to some.
80s
@@yunoyuluvit Copper I'd say. It was 40 years ago. Back then the silver age was only 20 years earlier.
1985 - 1988. Some call it Copper age. Some call it ‘late Bronze Age’. Either way it’s awesome 😀
I always find Cap A boring. But know i am considering buying the omni just because of the art. o_O
Yeah, he's like a Marvel's Superman. A scout boy.
But please, oh please, can we stop with the curved corners on the frame on each issue’s covers? Whoever is making this stylistic choice in these various Marvel Omnibus printings, PLEASE STOP.
Right-angle corners are JUST FINE.
I'll pick this up, when it becomes Captain America Omnibus Volume 8, sometime around 2036.
You could be dead by then. Live for today, sensibly but for the now.
