This is why Captain America will always be the greatest avenger and hero of the marvel universe. There’s just something about the way that he does speeches and inspires a lot of the other heroes to raise up to the occasion. If you look at how superman can be in inspiration as well and even how Optimus prime inspires his own team. Cap is definitely up there when it comes to motivational speeches and even during the crossover event between the avengers and the justice league, superman even respects the star-spangled man so much that he gives him the keys to lead both teams into battle.

Cap, Clark, and Optimus were all created by those who believe in what America should be, the America they believed in.
Cap and Calrk's creators were immigrants who saw evil incarnate itself and gain a grasp on the world for a moment.
Cap was made to mock what that evil believed in and turned what it believed to be "superior" into someone who stood for righteousness.
Clark was created because his creators wanted to inspire those who endured the great depression that struck the country, when the common man was seen as less and treated worse, and that that man can be more and has the potential to be more and with the years going by Clark's symbol became more as the world needed him to be.
And for Optimus, his creators intended for him to be modeled after Abraham Lincoln, we know him as the great emancipator and if you read on his history, Abraham came from humble beginnings where was treated just as much a slave by his own father as the black people were, it was some of these traits he had, as well as his way with words that formed the foundation for Prime's character, the final touch that gave Optimus Prime life and made him into the inspiration we know him as was Larry Cullen's words to Peter before his audition that to be a REAL hero and not some Hollywood pretend hero that Peter should "Be strong enough to be gentle"
these characters may be fiction, but they were written by real people and it's why we love them and try to embody what they stand for

This is exactly why in my opinion Cap was right in the Civil War because being a hero is about doing what is right, simply because it is the right thing to do and you are capable of doing it. But once the heroes become the governments attack dogs they are no longer fighting for what is right but instead they are fighting for the agenda of whoever is currently in power.

Only problem is that the Mark Twain quote was from a book not published until 1962, over 50 years after his death.
And Cap was in the ice at that point.

@davidphillips1358 Have you considered that the book is one of many things he's read since coming out of the ice? Knowing Cap's personality, I would expect him to be a voracious reader to catch up on all that happened while he was in suspended animation, to constantly expand his knowledge and stay current now, and because he has an inquisitive mind that never wants to stop learning.

You can quote Mark Twain once and it's more than the bible ever could.
For a republic or a democracy in general. People forget: You have a right to demand it, but it also means you have a responsibility to deserve it.
People keep talking about freedom and everyone's rights. But they shun everything that makes our civilization. Economy, politics, controversy, geography, logistics, structure.
Captain takes the fundamental part to heart. The individual. In order to tackle the more complicated problems we face. It's us at the core that is the problem to everything we make.
