  • Marie Kondo, aka KonMari, is a cleaning consultant.
Earlier this year, organizing consultant Marie Kondo was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people. One of her books on how to tidy up your life sold 1.5 million copies in Japan, and is now finding big success abroad. Her de-cluttering method focuses not on deciding what to throw away, but on deciding what to keep. And what should you keep? Only the things that excite you.
With her Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up series stirring up phenomenal sensations all over the world, KonMari visits New York to help people distressed about tidying. Gina Kruger, who lives with her husband and 2 sons, is helpless as things pile up uncontrollably in her house. KonMari comes to rescue. In the KonMari Method, you tidy not from one room to another but by category; you go through categories, such as clothes, books and sentimental items, and pick out only what sparks joy. What happens to Gina's house as a result? Check out all the tidying techniques that are guaranteed to make you want to start tidying immediately!

I love how positive Marie is about even little bits of progress. As long as you try it seems you can't do it wrong.

You can see Gina is visibly more comfortable and excited each time she answers the door for KonMari and I think that speaks worlds

The little boy crying when she left was so sweet. She seems like a genuine kind person and really enjoys helping others. I just finished reading her book and hope to implement a lot of it into my life.

I like how she said we don't need to force the rest of our family to do this, but begin with ourselves because that's what I was worried about. I share a room with my sister and I'm usually more tidy than her, but I've started to develop her same habits so our room is messy. But hopefully I can start with myself and maybe she'll follow in her own time :)

Her book is really life changing for me, qs someone with depression it's very hard to keep up with tyding... Her method really helps me keep my stuff neater, even when my depression comes back, and neater stuff helps my depression get better a little

After this kind of tidying, i start to think that i need to eat healthy things too.. Because when tidying food, i realised that i have too much processed/can food/frozen food. I only have a little fresh food... I start to think that i really need to learn how to cook

I love organization and it’s nice to see the before and after. So cute that the kid cried when she was leaving. The husband was super happy about that tripod lol. I think the lady did a good job.

Although I'm a certified KonMari Consultant myself, I can't get enough of watching other people tidy their homes! In my free time! It's so exciting to me! ✨ Thank you for uploading these videos! 🙏🏼 Living in NYC is really challenging because space is so limited and expensive. For a while, w lived in a studio apartment, and only things that sparked joy, and made my life easier could fit.

My husband and I went from a 2,800 sqft home to a 1,800 apartment. We r now going to another apartment that is a little over 1,000. We used the Marie Kondi rules. They are great!!! It’s so nice to know where everything is and to know it’s perfectly organized and not cluttered!!! It truly felt like I had just had a week long retreat at therapeutic and fun camp! I’m so excited we r doing it again!!!! And for the record-I am s naturally messy and unorganized person who hates all of this, but she’s the master!

Literally ANYTHING with Marie is amazing; she is so full of light and has a beautiful soul. I am so happy for the family as well. The only thing that was painful was hearing them call her “konmarie” like that was her name and not Marie Kondo. 😅

I like that she stuck to her goal: to feel calm and create music with her family. <3

So glad this woman was able to find success. We recently have been doing that as we moved, and so we got rid of some containers, and some old craft items of my daughter.

I cleaned a room at my sisters and she then felt motivated to clean one herself same day. A room than hadn't been done in the 2 years it's been full.
