If the rocker nuts were only finger tight, there is obviously a reason for not doing the final bits on it. Love how the keyboard warriors always know best 😂
Those are some very nice numbers for a little motor like that. 120bhp is 96kW out of a 1.3l engine designed in the late 1940's, very nice. That car is going to be pretty quick.
Looking forward to seeing it on track. My 1965 VW Beetle is built for Historic Touring Car racing, and the motor is currently 1285cc with 126bhp@7700rpm and 97lbft, so pretty similar to your Libre motor, although you have much more lower end torque than me. Currently gathering parts for a 1299cc which'll be in the 135-140bhp@8500rpm range.
This is going to sound awesome going around the track and I'd suspect it has some balls as well 😋 Thanks for sharing a great teaser video ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Awesome spec for an A series without going 8 port.Great to see a non verto clutch.1.5:1 rockers-valve train porn.Sounds great and the modern timing equipment should make it much more driveable than an old dizzy.
very mixed reviews on the SC400 ECU's, mate of mine had a 16V from them and had to replace the ECU as near nobody could tune it. But your mileage may vary.
That's an odd setup for the intake/exhaust being on the same side of the head, all the years my uncle owned and messed about with Mini's i never noticed. Learn something new every day
There are quite a few non-crossflow engine designs from the A series eram (e.g. the Ford "pre-crossflow" used in the Anglia, Cortina etc). The A series siamesed ports were more of an unusual feature.
The Siamesed ports are one of the restricting aspects of the A series, the works cars of the 60's tried using a crossflow head (look for Arden) ie. carbs at the front exhausts at the back and they were easily pushing 110-120hp out of them, and they were not nearly as modern as this...ie belt drive and ecu...instead of timing chain points etc...
Sorry to Say Matt, but I did offer to help you with hints and tips, albeit a lovely engine from John at SC again as normal, but without another 20bhp, spot on weight and a ATB diff I’m afraid your experience of Libre will be one of watching a lot of cars from the rear buddy. Your work is amazing and due to budget restraint on engine it’s going to be waisted I’m sorry to say. If your testing and need a time to work to check out mini7 times on TSL before you go so that you can see where you sit. I’ll estimate a 57sec tops at the brands Indy circuit once you get your teeth into it. Good luck fella.
PS please remember to watch the adverts it helps the channel... If like me you're unable to work at the moment at least watch the adverts 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Split pins in the rockers not bent up yet.
It's SC.. what do u expect
One side looked like it was bent over
If the rocker nuts were only finger tight, there is obviously a reason for not doing the final bits on it. Love how the keyboard warriors always know best 😂
It is, it's just bent up on the other side of the pin.
@@88Frank but still.... SC
That’s a lot more engine than a standard Mini has. Even if the chassis is a little heavy, it should be competitive
Let's see the install and start up process 😜👍
Serious power from that little sewing machine.
Really looking foward to seeing this car on the track. That engine sounds fantastic.
Beautiful. Sounds amazing on the dyno and great figures!
Good power for an old A series 👍
Wow Matt what a lovely looking motor....I could just sit there staring at it all day!...lol.
Hope it does the 'business' for you! 🤞🤞💪💪
Saw the engine and thought it was a lovely piece. Then you pull the rocker cover off and it's gorgeous! Fantastic work from Specialist Components!
Or Damico engines.. ain't that who do all sc's machine work anyways? Im sure the dyno footage was Damicos!
Beautiful

Screaming A series with SC gears,it's going to sound busy in there👍
I spent many happy hours rebuilding Mii engines with my dad. not ONE looked as nice as this. great update 2x👍
Wow, that sure does look and sound the part. Wow! Going to make the little mini fly! 👌👍✊
I've been watching you for about five years now Matt, and I've never seen you 'cobble' anything together!
Looking forward to seeing you thrash around the circuit in this!!
Cut my teeth as a teenage mechanic on these mini engines, this one is a touch nicer than the ones I used to feck about with. Nice! 👌
A good looking piece of kit!
Wow awesome 👍🏽👍🏻😀 be great to see it in the car and racing around the track 👍🏻😀
At 8.21 the split (cotter) pin at the end of the rocker shaft is not secured (split or bent over)
Looks great. Can't wait to see you competing on track.

Looks really tidy! Nice job 👍🏾
Another nice build by John at SC, decent power and torque too, I do like those MED 1.5 LDX roller rockers, it should go well in the libre.
Racer grossly underestimates the cost of building a new race car - that’s never happened before! Except for every other racer ever.
That engine is gorgeous!
Brilliant Matt. 👍
congrats man! nothing like a fresh engine to make one's day! i don't know much about these engines but it seems pretty trick.
I am looking forward to seeing the body finished and the engine dropped in, missing the vids Mat.

Sounds the part. Good luck with it.

Lovely looking motor!!
Nice torque line 😎
Nice engine, nice sound on the dyno.
At 8:20 am, the cotter pin didn't bend open, is that for a reason?
Its bent on the other side of the pin mate.
Nice, very nice ✌🏻🏴
Nice engine! It doesn't look very much like the old engine in my 61 Morris Mini Traveller.
Looks good, sounds good. Should be good.🏁🏁🏁🏁🏆
More top content 😎❤️👍👍👍
Thank you
Lovely!!!
nice power plant matt but how the hell is the carb and manifold going to fit in there, hole in the dash?
In an earlier video Matt fabbed an airbox in the firewall.
Incredible! 👏👏👏
Damn that thing screams.

Love the youngsters comments!
Split pin 🤦♂️
I couldn't watch while it was on the dyno screaming after seeing that pin not bent yet 😱
Very nice.
120 лошадинных сил с двигателя OHV.....отличный показатель!

Hi there. Am Dave in Zambia. How much can the engine like that one cost? Please help.
So clean you could eat your dinner off of it.
Cor, I like that Mr.
Pity the budget could not stretch to an Arden 8 port head maybe in the future
BMW k1100rs 16v head conversions the way to go to make them a real screamer.
Maybe one day mate.
PS please remember to watch the adverts it helps the channel... If like me you're unable to work at the moment at least watch the adverts 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers mate 🍻
Hold it flat Mat!
Nice piece o' kit, innit?
Podium first time out.
Super turbo 👀💤
so how much is an engine like this ?
Best to speak to John at www.specialist-components.co.uk/
Schwwweeeeeeet!
🍺👍🏻👏
7500 rpm!! ho ho ho
Looking good,..... LAG...
Fanfuckingtastic!
Mmmmmmm
120 hp is not much it seems to me, maybe compared to the weight of the car it is enough?
(translated from French by Google translation)
120hp is alot from an A series engine, Most 1275cc mini’s make 50-60bhp
Miggly-er? It's pronounced like "mee-lear"
Fascinating. Shame about the A series though Too old ...too crap. A Suzuki Swift 1.3 does Better ...as does the typical Teenagers Honda civic (stock)
Not even a cross flow head
