Wow, impressive lifting tool.
The whole split pin thing is a discussion in itself.
I started watching your videos from the beginning of the Mongrel build, when you were in the cow shed, with the ambitious hope of posting daily. It's great seeing your progress with equipment, skills and projects to where you are now and you have improve to a proper workshop with excellent equipment. All I can think to say is congratulations on your advancement and thanks for sharing your journey. Looking forward to seeing the Mini racing.
Thanks mate, much appreciated.
The great tools bring out the art in the artist. Xtremeplasma has the amazing tools that have let your creative talent fly high. So enjoyable to see the things you create.
Cheers
I could never claim to have any interest in welding - I’d never pick up a torch in anger, or for pleasure, but there’s joy to be had from seeing a job well done, so I’ll be watching the next one.
Cheers
Great welding as usual!
You got me with the split pin too 😂
Superb manufactured lifting bracket Matt, just the job! 👍✊👌
That's awesome 👍🏻👍🏽 good you are painting things you're self and it gets better with doing more 👍🏻👍🏽, I went to a car racing event over the weekend was great to see all the old car's and old drivers there 😀👍🏻 talked to a few of them, the car's themselves are expensive but all the upgrades as well make them even more, they had mini racing, escorts, big V8s, old vintage race car's so cool, they have a meeting up and down the country here in New Zealand back again in December and January, it's a summer events so hopefully get to more meet's in future 😀👍🏽
That engine hangs nicely on the bracket. Love your engine hoist.
Thanks 👍
You and the machine did really well laying down the welds. Looks great with your logo.
Thanks 👍
Hi Matt. Nice looking welds. That GYS machine is very trick.
a better paintjob than it got when new :-D going to be a cracking mini when youre done
That's kinda why I would like a Mini as a project car, you can't make them much worse than they were from the factory, quality wise..
Love the Urchfab racing colours. Great looking engine.
8:37 Very nice clean welds.
You are the best welder on UA-cam.
Nice! I was expecting the engine to tilt farther, but that worked great!
Nice job matt looks the biz
Simply beautiful brother !!!!
That was very uplifting.
That lifting plate looks awesome, and would probably be welcomed within the mini community, but the only issue is that on fully steel fronted cars the engine needs to be lowered in tilted back, to clear the diff under the crossmember before you can lower it in, it'll work great on yours without a front though.....
What I did when doing a lot of mini’s was smash the top off some spark plugs and weld some rings to the top of them which gave you a better angle for installing the engine.
Nice welder! And nice welds too 😎
Awesome as always ✌🏻🏴
theres a lot of detail in that car, looking very pretty
Cheers
Lovely job! ❤
Love it a metal artist in motion for sure, very nice design and execution.
Very nice work, thanks for sharing
Looking good👍
Nice bit of kit! Think you could lift the whole Mini with that
Excellent work.
A thing of beauty and a joy forever 👌
the old bmc use to have 2 lifting eyes as standard on the tappet cover studs
Those lifting lugs are usually the first thing to disappear along with the plastic cover for the distributor.
Nice. There's an Irish guy does loads of Mini tuning on here, and he uses a similar bracket but with a specific angle built in to ease settling the engine onto the mounts. Worth a look.
@@karcherman6825 it looks like he is subscribed to a channel called HRE Ireland which looks to be all about mini's
Awesome 👌
COOL video 👍🏼
Just a thought... if you wanted to use the two rear holes as per your original template, couldn't you chamfer the hole and use a wheel nut with a conical seat? Just sayin??
As ever a lovey bit of fabrication but what happens when you start winning and the seal your engine?
Any risk of bending those studs by lifting in that manner? Seems like the angles would produce some torque on them?
Hi Matt, could l ask you what make of Mig Welder are you using? I’m not particularly happy with the one I’m using at the mo. I’m an experienced stick welder & finding it rather frustrating that I’m having difficulty laying decent welds with this Mig. Needless to say I’m using it for welding thin sheet at the mo. Great seeing you’re tidy workmanship, I’m one of the rather rare fussy ones, it’s reassuring to witness quality workmanship. All the very best.
Nice job , 👍🙂
You should try the double pulse on Aluminium!
I prefer the single pulse your machine does than the look of the double.
Just what you like to do is paint!!!!!!
I think you need to start adding "RACING" to your URCHFAB logo now!
Can’t believe I haven’t asked this previously, what I’d the origin of “URCHFAB” surname, mix of family names? Thanks Matt.
Believe it is Urch as in Mr Urch, Fabrications.
He is after all, the fabrication Stig.
lol
Surname Urch - Fabrication . Cheers
Mint
More on that welder please .
Coming soon.
Did I see a bit of spatter on the bracket ?
Why not just cut the plate holes to sit over the nuts beneath? Give you more thread engagement
Yes, that's a good idea!
@@Urchfab I suppose it does make it nut-specific though as the plate is cantilevered and needs to clamp solid (I commented before I realised that) so wouldn't be great for selling it, but for your specific application.. 🤷🏻♂️

Pray for big horse power out of a mini race engine.
THAT IS CERTAINLY NOT A CLASSIC MINI ENGINE !! I can’t identify where it came from but it’s nothing like the engine in my 1962 Morris Mini Traveler !! Known as a Woody .
This is the A Plus engine fitted to the mini metro yours was the A series.
The engine is screaming, weigh me. ( No reason to I know, Im just in a mindset that lighter is faster so i'm obsessed with weighing things 😏😆)
Say what you mean Stephen but be aware that everything that Matt builds make JCBs look frail 😂🤣😂🤣
Lol
😮😮🔥🔥🔥👍👍🌹🌹
Could have used the two rocker cover bolts
I was advised against that.
They aren't really up to the job of lifting an engine and gearbox.
That's how we used to do it at the Austin Rover main dealer in the 80's. Two brackets and a solid bar. Never really liked it myself. Still got the brackets in my tool box that I think came on a Gold-Seal recon engine.

That's how I always do it.. don't always have enough room on the head bolts to get anything on..
GYS, is that pronounced as "Jizz"?
Is it true you have another YT channel called bbno$ ?
lol
@@Urchfab I thought it was you, you're a man of many talents Matty.
Sell your bracket.
