Put it together, take it apart. Repeat as needed until the race car is a race car. Nice work.

Then race, and take all apart again…

    Hey Matt...
Solid mount the alternator and fab a bracket below it for a tensioner pulley...👍

The way you knock those brackets out on the plasma cutter is absolutely amazing, you have certainly come along way with your turning and computing skills Matt. Total credit and respect to you! ✊👍👏🛻🚘

You are doing some excellent fabrication work and the car is really coming together nicely. Instead of painting your fabricated brackets, etc., have you ever thought about getting an inexpensive powder coat gun. Seeing the water outlet you made made me think of this. I can powder coat small parts and have them ready for use faster than a good paint can set up for use. I am including blasting, cleaning, coating and baking. Once the part cools, it is ready for use. Powder is a far superior finish that will hold up and even take some punishment from getting banged upon with wrenches and things and not get damages. All coatings have limits just power paint is so nice. Over spray can be swept up or vacuumed. All you need is a gun with power unit, an oven and you already have compressed air. The gun operates at very low pressure, say 2-4 PSI, depending on what powder is coming through and humidity. I use a 1950's GE electric stove, it has 4 burners and an oven with the largest capacity of 18" and with little room on the sides, you can mess up the powder prior to curing so if you want to do larger pieces, you need space. I was stunned to watch the first piece I ever coated and how the powder was attracted to the part and coated both sides at once (small part for testing about 1-1/2" in diameter). I did spray both sides as the only way to add more is to bake until the powder flows, remove, re-coat and cure for the full amount of time (usually 20 minutes at recommended temperature and this means the part is at that temperature. I perceive no odors during baking. The part must be as clean as you would do for any paint job, meaning no oil, silicone or other surface contaminants. Castings are porous so if it is used, it needs cleaning and baking and recleaning in order to attempt to drive out oils, an example would be aluminum valve covers or cast iron subjected to oil. A pound of powder is not going to brake the bank and the colors available are incredible and the special powders only add to the wow factor if so inclined. They also offer primers. Seriously, check into it when you get an opportunity. My gun is the equivalent of a Harbor Freight unit and inexpensive. Yes, made in China. I try to powder coat everything that I refurbish or fabricate, as long as it fits my over. Also, it is good to have an oven thermometer and an infra red laser gun (also inexpensive) to check parts for temperature. Once the powder flows, the part is usually up to temperature so I now use if for backup. My oven is consistent with the dial but I still keep a thermometer in the oven.

It often amazes me how much more use you can get out of your material using a driven cutting machine- scraps are little bitty pieces instead of shards of off cuts. And it makes a great bracket!

Nice build while fighting for space, thumbs up on that. However, you may consider putting a deflector plate behind the water inlet so that cold water is not directed straight at the cylinder wall.

If you're entering races this year, it can't be long now, can it?

about 1985, i built a new engine for my brother's allegro [it's a 1275 A series], i remember fitting the latest thing, a cambelt kit conversion, along with the normal go-faster bits, it was a suprisingly fast piece of crap, [original sleeper?], i wonder if anybody still does them?
PS, this scourge of the local constabulary only lasted 3 months, peeled the roof off under a stationary truck on a sunny, wet, winters day, luckily, no seatbelt, so was ejected out of drivers window, still got the scars [the passenger headrest was cut clean off...]

Electric water pump will keep hot spots in the cooling system, I noticed u where over reving the engine on race weekend ,I think you don't have a understanding of turbo engine. Let me explain u drive a turbo car by boost change gears and let the boost push u change gears gently the feel the turbo efficiency spot ,drive the car on boost ask around the get a better understanding. Cheers buddy 👍 love ❤️ Ur videos, Ur a motivation is exceptional 👌
