    Go to culinary school but think outside the box, sell plates, get a food cart, catering or a food truck, get on social media and sell, sell, SELL! Don't waste your time in a restaurant not letting you grow. Learn the skills, practice at home etc.

    it doesn't matter where you go to school, what matters is your ambition. with the right will power, you can go on to do great things. i mainly chose le cordon bleu because of the quality of the facilities, instructors, educational material, equipment,etc. and the added benefits of graduating from there, and the fact that they help with job placement for the rest of your life. just from my own personal observation. it all depends on what people are looking for and what they want out of life.

      Guys as a cook myself I have to tell you that is a very tough and demanding profession. I think that every cook that reads that will agree with me. I don't want to prevent you from following your dream but if it's your passion I'm sure you will succeed. Best wishes!!

    too much. lol I'm going to the community college for culinary. They have a great success rate as much as the expensive schools and they said that they get a lot of people that transfer to them because they are in so much debt. The ones around here are 9000 a year 25000 a year and the one non profit 36000 a year! Mine will only be around 2,000 a year :)

    I have high hope for my hopeful culinary school experience. I hope to do a year or two where I currently live, then go to school in London, and also study abroad in Korea.

    Both of my parents are Doctors too, and when i told them they were slightly apprehensive about my choice. I think you are going to have to expect that, but at the same time, if you explain clearly and confidently enough that this is your passion and show them you are talented enough to do it then hopefully they will come around to the idea. On the other hand, my sister thinks I'm mad. But this has just pushed me into making myself work harder- achieve greater things to show her :) x

    In my family, most people are engineers or doctors, my family thinks that's the best thing to do. I really want to be a chef but i dont know how to tell them without them looking down on me. I really love cooking, its my passion, I feel the happiest in the kitchen, but I just dont know how to tell my parents :/.

      It's your life in the end, not theirs. Don't just do whatever you want whenever you want, though -- be wise and smart with your life choices. Be disciplined, work hard, and plan. Balance what you want to do with what you need to do.

    i want to be a chef and I need culinary school because I want a high class chef job. Everyone tells me to work in a kitchen first but I dont have that option because you have to be 18 and Ill be signed up for college by then, but I know this is what I want to be. Plus I have decided to only go for 2 years not 4

    What would cause one fluid when poured into a saucepan to become darker as you gradually increase the fluid amount whereas the other fluid does not even when you increase the same fluid amount?

    brwneydgirl70 Have you considered working as a dishwasher in a kitchen? this will give you experience being in the environment, and you do end up doing some small jobs at times. Mostly tedious jobs but you will learn the kitchen dynamic and see if it suits you.

    • @ythsh
      @ythsh 6 років тому +1

      That is a terrible advice actually. working as a dishwasher or other entry level kitchen jobs may burn you out and destroy your passion or love for the culinary. I have worked in these said entry level jobs as early as 16 years old and those jobs are heavily skewed towards quantity over quality and I fear most people who have love for the fine dining will have their tender souls destroyed in some of these AOV establishments. They're better off not being exposed to the fast food industry.

    I went to culinary school and I haven't moved up from dishes and I have been working there for 2 years. They say I do good but still haven't moved me up. I know I can do it but they won't give me a chance so my skills I learned in school are getting rusty. HELP. I don't learn as fast as everyone but I learn. It just takes awhile. I learned other stuff but it just takes awhile. I don't learn in one day like other people.

    I know its not like tv. And I know I like to cook and I wouldnt mind going to a job everyday cooking even if I have to cook the same thing over and over at least I wont have to sit on my ass all day doing paper work and hating life. The second choice would be chemistry but I'd end up fucking something up and making the world explode lol and I've seen real life chefs that have to cook all day looks appealing to me I like being active

    great equipment and kitchens like in a real restaurant. sorry i cant stop laughing, 80% of the restaurants you'll be able to join once you're done with school will maybe have sharp knives, dont even ask for something top of the line like the gear they have at school.
    they teach you alot to not end up like the guys from kitchen knightmares that "like to cook" but do consider that you will probably have to work your way up just like every one else.
