GABBY! ARE YOU OKAY?!
I actually like that in an analog horror series, the main spooky character is actually someone who cares about the protagonist
It's unexpectedly wholesome
We aim for nothing if not wholesome
I’m not even sure they were meant to be spooky
Ikr, in most analog horror series, the spooky characters are usually protag's enemy but here, it seems Gabby is some sorta mother figure to Jonah, our protag.
Nobody mentions how she is alive
@@nickmilano2516we don’t know and don’t care
I lowkey feel bad for Francais because he's just straight up ignored by Gabby in the other recordings lmfao. 😭
Francis is a big character in his own show.
i dont think hes being outright ignored he just seems to be forced to only follow the script while gabby can go off script
Cri
I think it's implied that Gabby is the only "real" one here. Francis is still just a mindless cartoon character following the script while Gabriel is only using Gabby's form to communicate with Jonah, which is why she disregards Francis entirely when he can't be used to assist her mission. For example, she plays along in the beginning segment to introduce herself and make Jonah feel like he has met her formally as a friend, and during the honesty lesson she refers back to Francis' plotline with the feather to explain how you can forgive someone for wronging you but that doesn't mean you have to trust them.
@Vani11aDeath pretty decent spoilers down below
Francis shows later on he's more aware than first thought, namely with the appearance of Zag and being able to talk to Jonah himself. He even hints about Jonah "looking different", aka at least being aware of what was happening when Jonah was a child watching the show.
My guess is that, unless he's outright pulled out from his role by someone else, the show he's in has him more "bound in" where he can't reach out as much. He's still aware, he just needs help getting the freedom to speak
I love how sweetly and gently Gabriel guides the viewer through traumatic events, she's such a darling
She's a... guardian angel of sorts :P
This might be my most favorite analog horror series ever. It’s just to heartwarming how it’s about an angel helping a child through traumatic events, instead of the overused scary demon in the tv trope.
An angel a day keeps the burning despair away
No it's an devil

The way horror hits in Angel Hare really stands out
"Even if he finds you" is an absolute gut punch
Who is she talking about?
@@billblaski9523
She's talking about Jonah's abusive father. He's only referred to as "him" or "he" throughout the series.
I feel like the he is either a intruder, abusive father,or kidnapper because if it was a father you wouldn’t lock the door with a chair or hide in the closet, if it was a intruder or kidnapper you would lock the door with a chair and hide in the closet
@@alanna1422oh sure don’t lock the door from an abusive father
I love how unlike most analog horror, the spirit in the tapes are helping Jonah. The voice acting really sells the comforting vibe that the show gives. The show feels like a warm blanket despite the dark tone lingering in the background.
Yes it’s the opposite of your usual analog horror which is unexpected
I really, really like the idea here of the tapes being "haunted", but by a benevolent spirit, and the horror comes from what that spirit is trying to protect you from. very unique
There’s just something beautiful about the simplicity of “divine being helping you in a time of need”.
It’s refreshing in a way, witnessing kindness of this level, even if it is fiction.
"I can show you how to be stronger, even though you're so small."
Thank you Gabby for the inspiring words
I don't know why, but I was half-expecting her to tell Jonah to use the chair to clobber whoever came through the door.
That's a Michael line
This is definitely something Zag would say though
AND HERE COMES JONAH WITH THE STEEL CHAIR
i wish i had an angel gabby when I was a kid. though i cant go back and get guidance, I can look back at what i did for myself as a kid and be proud of the things i thought of to keep me safe, even if it wasn't much.
Me too. I don't have many happy childhood memories.
you did your best and thats all that matters
"The sun is warm sometimes Jonah, but we should never forget the moments it burns you" ok this was engineered in a lab to make abuse survivors feel seen as hell. A child has no way to understand what they're experiencing is abuse until you get old enough to feel angry and hurt, and even then they're still your parent and your instinct is always to embrace them at their warmth and try to forget when they hurt you. Making an effort to remember what happened to you at their hands is incredibly taxing and stressful for a child that has to confront their situation or potentially die. This cuts deep man.
When Gabby showed how to keep the door shut I started sobbing. Incredible storytelling!
Omg SAME! I remember when I first watched this and Gabby grabbed the chair I already assumed she was gonna block the door but I didn't believe that they would include something like that in this kind of series. OH BOY did they prove me wrong :')
So I just watched all the episodes so far and I find this story absolutely beautiful. Every time Gaby was reassuring Jonah, it made me go in the verge of tears. There's something profoundly touching about the way she's breaking the character that's she's supposed to be in order to protect this child that's clearly going through something horrible. The simple touching spirituality of the story is mind blowing and I loved every second of it. Looking forward to see more ❤🌟✨🌠
I think this is the most horrific episode.
What's scarier, an old VHS animation glitching out here and there, or a child needing to be taught by an out of reach guardian how to stay safe from his own father?
2:24 The first full scene change, definitely proves its more than just a personalized redub
This series though like other analog horror having an undertone of something unsettling is actually quite nice and relaxing, almost peaceful at times, really interesting and nice to watch
Never imagined something could be so wholesome while giving me chills
Having my comment liked by the channel at 4am on a 1yo video, 10 minutes after i made said comment, now that startled me a bit.
Low-key high-key brings a tear to my eye the way Gabby is so soft but yet informative. It's the only thing you can be when dealing with a child in crisis. The way she reassures him is perfect I love this series man
At first I thought it was kinda sad that Friend Francis was being left out, but if we remove Angel Gabby from the equation, like she is doing herself, it just becomes a story about Francis finding inner strength all on his own.
Like a franciscan
i just started watching these but gabby genuinely feels really comforting
WOAHHHH NOT THE CHAIR LOCK WAS JONAH OK AS A KID?
Oh my gosh! I love Friend Francis. He did such a fantastic job with the voice.
I love how much a different take this is on analog horror rather than fearing the “creature” within the tape, they are actively helping the person instead of spooking the intended audience aka Jonah. That rather, we fear what Jonah fears if anything. I haven’t watched all the videos yet but very well done!
Out here crying because as a victim of a monster in my childhood and also someone who now has a child in their life (nephew) they'd go to great lengths to protect this episode made me cry. Good job!
Gabby's a trying to teach Jonah how to hide from her drunk father.
It's quite disturbing
*his
I suddenly regret paying attention in english class and having the ability to read between the lines, very cool 👍
I think we need more analogue horror where the entity genuinely cares about the protagonist, it can still make some genuinely scary moments like the eyes following you in the first episode, or in the short film Radar where Face torments Nathan at first, but at the same time it can make the audience more sympathetic and connect with both the in media viewer and the entity trying to protect them. it makes for an interesting dynamic where you’re rooting for both the main character and the entity, not really having a right or wrong person in the situation and not making everything so black and white like in most horror. it’s unique and interesting.
Over the past several years I have come to feel almost completely dead inside.
This series has had me absolutely crying my eyes out.
God bless you all on this project. Bravo.
There's something about that raincloud that just cracks me up. I dunno why.
Another great episode all around!
i feel so seen rn. i know others have said this but i love the 'twist' of the haunting being benevolent; it's a fantasy i had a lot as a child, that some supernatural creature would come save me, or a character from a show i liked would become my friend to help me through my home life
it seems like a lot of people with histories of familial abuse latch on to monsters and the supernatural as a way to cope, from what i can tell? so this is really validating. thank you, fr
Wow, this is absolutely lovely. The episodes don’t drag like a lot of other analog horror, the animation and voice acting are phenomenal, and I love the more wholesome angle with Angel Gabby trying to soothe and help our protagonist through times of trouble. I sure wish I had an Angel Gabby when I was a child!
2:41 and it was this scene that finally made me slightly uncomfy. Now to dig deep and find out what the hell happened to this kid that an alternate would start trying to teach them these things in a video. ^_^
I knew it someone thought that this was a reference to the mandela catalogue
This is very refreshing to see an analog horror series that isn't just "OOOOH! SPOOOKY STUFF! LOOK AT IT!"
The scariest things in horror tend to be the things that are closer to what happens in the real world. It's a different kind of bone chilling when you can relate to it on a human level rather that just having unkillable, supernatural monsters.
Not saying that monster horror doesn't work, The movie Alien is a great example of that. It puts you in the shoes of the protagonist escaping a threat that you never get a good look at until the end but that you can still recognize as living and non supernatural. Powerful but still mortal and acting more like large predators on Earth rather than a demon out for nothing but blood.
It's just that if the threat isn't grounded in reality to some degree it's harder to suspend your disbelief.
this makes me wonder
if this were a reality would our world be happier?
anyways this show is touching and i like gabby's design its cute and it gives out a sort of a warm feeling
Fortitude in times of heat. Not times of rain but heat. An interesting choice of words to describe the 'bad times' little Jonah was going through.
I didn't expect that heel turn.
That hit too close to home. Wish I had a Gabby as a kid
The closet segment comforting words actually made me feel good
I love how this series captures the feeling of watching a comforting show during a hard time in life and how the brain can get those memories and emotions tangled up!
The entire ideal of this is really refreshing, it’s nice to actually kind of like and appreciate the paranormal anomaly in one of these for once.
The realization hit me like a truck, Amazing job.
The cartoon having to teach a child how to hide in their room and put a chair against the door is so terrifying
i love this series. it gives off unsettling vibes at first, but as you dive deeper into it, it's very wholesome, and comforting. usually in analog horror, the main character tries to harm the watcher/player, but this is the complete opposite, and im here for it!! alot of kids grow up in unhealthy households, so they turn to cartoons, or animated series for comfort. that was definitely the case for me. to others this may seem creepy, because of the characters physically seeing you, but to me it's calming because i grew up having no one to talk to. the creators of this ARG are so talented, and it healed my inner child sm
This is so good it got me responding to the prompts without hesitation like Pavlov's dog.
one angel hare episode a day keeps the trauma away 👍
Most people think that people who are afraid of the dark of just "afraid of the dark" but they are not they are afraid what's in the dark or scared to be alone in the dark
0:14 ah yes, BACKRUPT
Manlybadasshero, Nick Nocturne. We need one more person with an amazing voice covering horror serieses to complete the trifecta
I love how in the other recordings angel Gabby(a.k.a angel Gabriel) simply ignores francis because Francis is just a normal cartoon character following the script
While angel gabby(gabriel) is the only character that actually *has* a *real mind*
It's like angel Gabriel is just taking angel Gabby's form to communicate with jonah
*Not rlly sure with this other theory but Angel Gabriel reminds me a actual name of an angel, So in Jesus' story when mother mary was getting a message that she's gonna have a baby and she should name him "jesus" it was from a angel named "angel gabriel"
Angel Gabriel is an angel messenger i believe*
Also i love this series
It's just wholesome but at the same time Erie for me because of how angel gabby(Gabriel) is concerned for jonah and is planning a alibi
i wish this wasnt as relatable as it is.
im sure others here will understand exactly what I mean.
I’m watching this series via the playlist my personal theory is this is jonahs guardian angel trying to warn him via a cartoon not to scare him
Oh, this is interesting that Gabriel is communicating with Jonah, which makes wonder how much communication Gabriel can do.
Well in retrospect, we really did figure out "David's little pebble against Goliath."
Wasn't the chair, but that "pebble" sure did take down Goliath.
The music in this series is so unnerving, but good at the same time 🎶🐰
Reminds me of myself as a kid when I would imagine my favorite cartoon characters being my friend and comforting me when I was sad.
I don’t feel safe anymore. I’m watching this in bed.
Unsettlingly foreboding.
Gabby is so calming. When they invited me to take a deep breath, I did.
Wonderful voice work, whoever voice-acted this.
Man this is so cool, the analog horror trope of haunted vhs tape kill you. But instead the tape is possessed by an angel and has been changed to help a child survive in ways it wouldn't have otherwise. The creep factor is what the tape protects the boy from, not the tape itself. What a beautiful subversive take! ❤
"Oh despair!"
Oh no, he's gonna summon Monokuma...
I'm so happy that this analog series exists! This just proves that not every analog horror series has to be scary! Thsi is wholesome!
I'm coming over from watching the stream with wendigoon.
This series is amazing and this episode specifically hit like a ton of bricks with how close it hit to home. And actually started to make me cry, in a good way. I just wanted to express my appreciation for this series. It feels like looking back at that time in my life and having this comfort back then.
I feel like Jonah may have had a traumatic childhood. As someone with a traumatic childhood (people without may also notice), it's setting off all my subconscious and conscious red flags of someone... not having the best childhood.
Edit: Even in the last episode, I was getting red flags set off. When Jonah said in the first episode that they needed or wanted to remember everything, I thought, "Some things are best left buried until they come to the surface unprovoked/without outside assistance".
Francis: Darn, I can't seem to open this jar of peaches, what should I do Gabby?
Gabriel: *grabs camera* Jonah! Listen to me Jonah! You need-
Francis: That's a good point, maybe I could get some help in the market!
Im not sure why, but this series truly will stay with me forever. Such palpable emotion. Its also genuinely nice to have a happy ending in one of these series.
Looks like Jonah didn’t have a very good houselife, poor dude.
How do you broach a subject that most creators would run screaming from? Like this.
A beautiful invertion of a horror trope that scares not because it threatens, but because it reveals a horror forgotten and shows how the horror was dealt with. Bravo.
Im just watching this for the first time, and it both breaks my heart, but I cant help but admire how heartwarming this series is for how despite being kinda disturbing in some ways, Angel Gabriel unlike any other creature in analog horror ive seen is protecting a child and trying to help them feel safe
Hey wanna say love your concent. Found you via tik tok. Your stuff is amazing. Looking forward to more.
Francis: I could certainly use some fortitude
VCR Gabby: Stfu I'm talking to Jonah
Francis got left on delivered every damn time💀
A cool detail I noticed is the VCR recording that shows how to lock your room and hide in the closet has more stuttering and glitches, wich means it was replayed a lot of times
*Me genuinely crying out of comfort*
Edit: LIKE BRO WHERE WAS GABRIEL WHEN I NEEDED HER GOD DAYUM I'M GENUINELY SO SAD RN 😭😭
I wasn’t expecting an analog horror to make me cry, but it’s a welcome surprise. I’m loving this so far
one of the most comforting parts of religion for me as a child was the concept go a guardian angel. seeing something like this represented it in such a nostalgic way, even with the dark undertones of what Jonah is going through, warms my heart.
I guess that the main character had an abusive father that tried to hurt her.
OH! Okay. So I just came across this series and holy crap the spooky weird paranormal thing is actually helpful! This is actually such a breath of fresh air for an analog horror series.
This series hurts a special kind of hurt from someone who’s gone through things
Nightmind brought me here. Gabby is so comforting. The voice acting is superb!❤
I think is funny how francis is trying to follow the script but Gaby keeps changing things and even talk over him, poor guy
Ah yes an analog horror about an old cartoon!
Something about this episode is strangely comforting.
awww it's so nice that she's helping jonah... but poor francis just got left behind D:
And people wonder why I'm terrified of rabbits.
Easter must be incredibly rough!
Christian bunny
@@stephotics lol yup. Especially since I'm a rehabber, and I get a lot of calls about dumped bunnies every easter! But I do it, cuz it's not their fault I'm scared of them. And their teeth...😨
As unnerving as this is, it’s also beautiful to have a figure who can help a kid through their own scariest times. I love gabby
this voice actor's talent is astonishing. it brings the amazing writing to life in a way a less engaged performance couldn't dream of
I am so glad for this accidental discovery. Especially because your series is actually touching on some of the themes my series intends to end on.
This gives me chills every time I watch it because it resonates with me so much. I literally shiver and cry every time I watch this. It’s too good not to though! Thank you EastPatch for making this great analog horror! Feels more like a comfort than horror to be honest haha! You know what they say though- it disturbs the comforted, and comforts the disturbed. :3
I love how it isn’t even scary, just unnerving and comforting
Ok why does this hit so hard to my feelings
This is what everything that the cozy horror genre wants to be
I REALLY like this take on analog horror, the idea that its actually a friendly entity trying to protect you is awesome.
I wish gabby protected me when i was that little too
I really love the art it's so cute Plus if angel hair was a real show I would have a the VHS player for that
Ok, I doubt I'm the first one to think this, but "The sun is warm sometimes Jonah, but you shouldn't forget the moments when it burns you" this is such a genius line. To me it sounds like she's describing how abusers may "love bomb" to try and make you disregard/forgive the abuse they've put you through by turning around and being affectionate/giving gifts/etc. Perhaps Jonah's father did this and Gabby is warning him in a way a kid would understand?
I've always had a concept in my head for a premise involving the characters of TV shows and video games becoming sentient and interacting with the people watching them. Comforting and encouraging kids, and occasionally wreaking havoc on the wicked Paranormal Activity style. Equal parts terrifying and heartwarming.
I kinda wanna watch the full VHS versions lol
Yes
This kinda of makes me think how we remember or feel in some specific way towards media that help us go through a hard time, even if it's just a random story, it can mean so much to a specific person
I've only just begun this series, but it's already meaning the world to me. Angel Hare is so sweet! Wish I had her growing up
