Halfway through... Do you think it's safe to keep going? Should we stop here?
Too deep now to stop. Besides, this may answer questions about your past!
Just...be ready. Brace yourself, and if needed put yourself in a position where you'll be safe before continuing to dive. It may not be a comfortable thing to learn.
I'm guessing you don't remember what she was directing you to pick up? Judging by how she spoke, my mind immediately went to it being some kind of weapon. And judging by how she described it and what she was directing you to do...
Can you remember anyone in your household regularly using or even owning any kind of firearm? It's probably a reach, but that's what my mind went to based on what she said. It's okay if you're not sure though.
@@YossDillo Thanks for the thoughtful reply. It's all foggy, but something feels like it's getting closer... I'm braced.
You can't stop now. Jonah, you have evidence of something very, very informative. It may hurt to dig deeper, but know that we'll be here for you, and it may lead to more revelations about your childhood, and what happened to Gabby, and maybe, just maybe, we can find her again.
Idk
@@TheEastPatch make a ritual to summon Gabby
The parts where Angel Gabby instructs Jonah to take the gun, remove the bullets and parts, and hide it on top of something where his dad won’t find - It’s more scary than any uncanny args because..
This is not a TV character scaring a kid..
This is a character trying to help a young kid from the real monster.
I didn't even register the fact that it was a gun, I thought it was a vase that Jonah may have broken accidentally.
i watch Night Mind's video on this series. he theorized that Jonah did more with his dad's gun besides dismantling it and hiding the pieces. the rest is seen in further tapes but it's implied that Jonah shot his father due to him being abusive to him and possibly his mother. whether he deserved or not is a whole debate on the topic of vigilante justice.
I thought it was a knife. The dismantling bit was confusing.
Also we need more ARG's like this. Or similar.
@@drswag0076 yes, he deserves it
@@TamNguyen-hm2lj yeah you're right.
So the twist isn't that Angel Gabby is evil, but the true evil is repressed trauma
There’s something deeply saddening “hearing” Jonah lament over having forgotten Gabby somehow. I can understand that feeling; remembering a safe and sweet memory yet feeling anguish over letting such an important moment slip my mind.
It might be through trauma or the fact that Jonah was really young
In this case, it's likely the result of repressed memories. A lot of folks who were abused as children repress those thoughts.
Gabby was so protective and kind. I really hope she’s alright.
Same but uhhh my short name is gabby…
@@jennifermelgar607 Hi Gabby
Hi gabby@@jennifermelgar607
It’s not a real person bro
U guys don't know what an arg is..... ?
... Coming back to this after a bit, I realized both how funny and unsettling it is that Angel Gabby not only knows what a gun is, but can identify them by model AND knows how to properly disassemble a model with such accurate knowledge they can relay that info with pinpoint precision to a child.
Maybe Angels don't formally use guns, but Gabriel *can* use one, has expert knowledge on them, and is absolutely implied to be willing to do so if needed... That is hilarious and I am afraid.
*Be not afraid.*
*”FEEL THE WRATH OF GOD!”*
"...you know what?"
*CLACK*
"BE afraid."
The lord is my rock
And Gabby has a gat
Angel Gabby confirmed for Fortnite??
“We can learn that word later”
She’s also like a teacher at the same time. God I love this series so much. 😭❤️
I'll always be your warrior, Jonah.
I hope we'll never have to draw a weapon.
But as your guardian angel...
*I'll always be ready.*
That's why angel gabby is the goat
That ending of angel Gabby saying she'd draw a weapon for Jonah and Jonah asking "what happened to my angel?" Makes me tear up every time
I love that the horror more-so comes from the implications on what our protagonist went through as a child rather than the cartoon character itself, she's here to be a protector not a source of torment
This is... something else. It's weird but in such a sweet way. Ironically it doesn't even feel like horror so far... more like anti-horror? Whatever it is you're doing, please keep doing it... thank you for making this ❤
I know what you mean. Surprisingly Gabby herself is not the main thing to fear here. It's the situation that Gabby is desperately trying to get Jonah out of.
It’s definitely a pleasant twist to the “haunted” VHS tape analog horrors/creepypastas. The fact that Gabby is a genuinely kind and benevolent spirit (most likely Jonah’s actual guardian angel), who only desires to help and protect Jonah from the real evil that is his father definitely a refreshing and wholesome take on the genre.
When Jonah said they wouldn't stop digging until everything was clear, it reminded me of how I handled my [own] repressed trauma at first, and I just thought, "Jonah should probably stop digging before they find something they'd rather not remember". I've been in a situation like that with my trauma, and once you uncover the repressed trauma(s), it is difficult if not impossible to rerepress the traumatic memories. I have a bad feeling that could be where Jonah is heading.
This is hitting me in a way I never have been hit by an analog horror series. There is real tension and fear for Jonah, and Gabby truly seems like the sort of guardian angel more kids like them deserve. Thank you so much for making this, I can't wait to see the rest.
Oh goodness.. There's so much to unpack here.. Maybe an event had unfolded and Gabby had decided to take that/these memory(s) away for Jonah's own safety mentally and physically? If that were even possible on her end..
It may be a bit early to tell, but very invested in what's going on here. Hopefully everything turns out okay for both Jonah /and/ Gabby
this one in particular made me want to cry. angel gabby being particularly gentle firm and directive with jonah and what to do with the object (assuming it’s a gun). the fact that she is going so far to protect jonah, a true guardian angel. im loving this so far
My first thought was that it was a knife until I read the comment section, probably bc I just got off work (food service). Thought Gabby wanted to see if it was a kind that could be used as a weapon or something like a butter knife. Gun makes a lot more sense in terms of the whole 'seperate and hide the parts' thing in hindsight; was wondering how the hell a kid was going to get the knife blade back into the handle halves and have it still functional
Gabby is such a precious angel and I love her...
The voice acting in these is phenomenal
Gabby is so wholesome. It’s nice to see a ‘haunted’ lost show be something nice
This is a goofy question but what’s the highest gabby can fly
Testing her boundaries, eh? We'll pass it along!
To Heaven of course!
i really like this take on this horror genre. This is like glamrock freddy all over again.
This is unique, usually characters in analog horrors involving kid shows are evil… Gabby wasn’t evil; she just wanted to protect Jonah.
The way Gabby's eyes follow whats going on in the room is really neat.
WOW, this story is so unique, I can’t say ive ever seen or heard of a story like this!!! this is so brilliant and its just so insane how well executed this is, i was not expecting the twist of her being a supportive character!!!
It’s interesting that Gabby is showing reluctance, but willingness, to use the implied weapon if necessary. My guess is that whatever happened to Jonah’s father was self-defense at best, and justifiable homicide at worst.
this series makes me cry so hard, as a kid i used tv and books to escape my parents failing marriage and screaming matches, as well as growing up catholic. the abuse was never as bad as what jonah has obviously gone through, but this hits home. what i wouldn’t have given to have Gabriel like that
I like how this series can paint a picture of what is happening beyond the recording itself using contextual hints or changes.
When I first watched this episode I didn't really think too much on why Gabby would move from scene to scene during the recording, but then It hit me. Jonah had a tv in his room, which explains the last episode on how he was instructed to barricade his door and hide in the closet.
Now we don't necessarily know how long or severe this abuse was going, however, it was a point where Gabriel would instruct "Preventative" instructions on how to deal with Jonah's father, Aversion rather than confrontation.
However this episode shows that when essentially his father broke in and threatened Jonah with a weapon, a line was crossed.
"Nod once if he's not coming back for a while"
I imagine that Jonah's father either left the weapon on a table in the living room and left the house, this was a chance. It's easy to imagine there being multiple TVs throughout the house so when Jonah entered another room, so did Gabby.
Essentially get an idea of what's happening on the other side without telling too much
That's why when the Kitchen and the Toy chest in Jonah's room is discussed it's mentioned in a way that signifies they are not in either place.
I just thought that was neat.
Bro watching this for the first time when she said "thatd be incriminating" i literally said "bro hows a kid gonna know that word" and then she said that. The attention to detail here is immaculate. Amazing job!!!
I am honestly on the verge of tears. I haven't even watched all the videos yet, nor have I been in a traumatizing situation specifically like this. But the music, the voice acting, the writing. It's horror but done in such a different and special way. I wish I had a Gabby of my own as a child.
Honestly... after all of the horror series that have the supernatural characters be evil... it's... oddly... comforting that this series decided to take a step in the opposite direction and make the supernatural entity be a force of good. In fact I'd say that this is unlike anything I've ever seen before even outside of horror having a character of this specific type be good. It's a form of manipulation, but instead of causing things to be bad it's specifically to nudge things in the right direction. This series creates horror not through horrifying visuals, but through shattering expectations and through implying that something horrifying happened to this person in the past, but never showing it outright. It also gets what holy beings in Christianity do correct too. Angel Gabby never goes out of her way to interfere with anything Jonah does and instead shifts outcomes in just the correct way to make sure that everything goes right in the end. She is not physically interacting with the events to make things go correct, but instead giving Jonah the power to make things go correct himself. The only other series that I've seen that has done this is surprisingly Faith: The Unholy Trinity. It has me hooked as it's gotten me genuinely curious about what is going to happen next.
Keep going... you need to find her, sometimes an angel needs protection too.
at first i was waiting for the angel bunny to turn out to be evil in some huge plot twist, but now i realize she's always been there to help jonah through dealing with his abuser! bruh this series is gold!
This show is making me tear up, and I don't know why.
When I was told this was an analog horror I didn't think shed be so nice and actually trying to protect the child watching her from someone bad in his life.
God, Angel Gabby is so kind. What an honestly refreshing take on this whole concept.
the fact i had to read the comments to FULLY understand what Johah was hiding from the "monster" is scary. I thought it was a like, swiss knife.
“The belt of truth doesn’t fit around me” I wonder if there’s more to Francis than he lets on
Keep digging. Find out what happened. Gabby was supposed to protect you right? What was she protecting you from?
A bad man seeing as Gabby always refers to a him, maybe an abusive father or uncle of some kind, maybe it was so bad that The main character blocked out the memories
That's my thoughts too, but I didn't want to push it to avoid planting an idea of what happened rather than the truth.
This is honestly terrifying. This really implies whomever the main character’s father was extremely abusive and cruel. The fact he’s not above threatening THERE OWN KID with a gun is beyond cruel.
I just want you to know that everyone who worked on this did a phenomenal job. You can truly feepmthe care put into this series, as well as the care gaby shows for jonah. I've been getting actual chills at this episode and had already teared up at episode two. I never considered my childhood bad, considering my dad's goods made it hard for me to recognize the bads when i was younger. Knowing what i know now, though, i'm already finding great comfort in this series. Thank you.
This series gives me chills in a way I haven't experienced before. It's like knowing something horrible is happening right beneath the surface but not knowing when or how. Captivating
I love the implication here that, not only does Gabriel know what a gun is, but that she’s so familiar with them, that she can identify its model *and* how it works just by looking it over. Would literally trust Gabby with my life, she’s actually kind of a badass.
Bruh this would be like if Bob and Larry from Veggietales spoke directly to me as a kid. I relate to this super hard since that show was also a comfort to me as a kid and the only christian media i ever liked. This hits me in a special way. Wow.
"What happened to my angel?" is probably one of the heaviest lines I've heard in all of analog horror.
There's just SO MUCH to unpack there.
Ok, heres a letter! Im intrested to see what the response would be.
"Dear Angel Gabby, how are you getting these letters? Do you know where they are coming from?
Thank you for your time
-Frog"
-
Thanks for the letter! We'll make sure it gets to Gabby - however that happens 👀
Glad that Gabby is a very kind character that cares for her viewers
I have a letter for Gabby
"Hello, do you know how you became Jonah's guardian angel? Do you remember anything about Jonah?
- R. Pikula"
Look at what you've done ! You made Francis glitch out !
"What happened to my angel?"
Oh my god im gonna CRY
surprised no one said anything about this but i find it very interesting that both episodes from the andy griffith show and batman in one of the tapes have a bank robbery involved? i havent watched all of these videos yet but i just wanted to make note of it here to look back on it for later
As said in a previous comment, I'm Jewish, but I feel like Gabby cares about me. I love her.
Hmm..
Theroy:
Jonah's dad is gone because gabby took him away after he tried hurting him
She is a guardian angel afterall
the "very carefully" at 1:06 was said with such gentle concern for little jonah it almost brought tears to my eyes.
I'm going to echo what many other people have said, I love this twist on the analog horror format. This deserves so many more views.
This hits different being named Jonah.
I feel really comforted by Gabby. I feel like she supports everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexuality, and so on. She's a protector and teacher above all else.
Gosh. Why is this wholesome?
If Gabby knows how a gun works, she's absolutely willing to use it against Jonah's dad.
This kind of made me tear up a bit, genuinely love this series sm
Heyyy :) this is my first time washing this but I have a theory so far
OK so Jonah is definitely a child going through an abusive household or kidnapped ( 0:44)
They were definitely dealing with some from weapon maybe a gun ( 1:06)
But overall I think the series is about Gabby trying to help Jonah throughout his household if there’s anything really bad happening being kind of like a guardian angel
I also think the reason why the text which I assume is Jonah is acting like this never happened it’s either because of two reasons
A. This tape was not meant for them I meant for Jonah they somehow got it
B. Jonah has so much trauma from the abuse that he blocks out almost every single bit of it
(First time so please no spoilers :D)
"WHAT HAPPENED TO MY ANGEL?"
As someone who never had one, this hits pretty hard
you 100% have one, they just work so well that they dont appear
@@zethnevarg2399 huh that's an interesting way of thinking
I love the music of this series
I unironically got sad watching this...
Not because "harsh reality scary", but because i was kinda left to myself too. I didn't had Gabby, but when i lost my (not abusive, actually nice) father at the age of 14 with no mother, i kinda had to improvise. And so i got Alice the lynx.
I... "Shot" my imaginary friend a year ago, in a heated dispute, because college is too stressful (yes, i still talked to her. I was THAT type of a quiet kid. Still am a reserved and distant adult). She is still kinda there, but i feel regret over it to this day. She now has many different forms of different characters, but the OG lynx one is still my favorite.
Thanks you, Alice. And thank YOU for actually reading me vent in the comment section.
Tl;dr: I had an imaginary friend like Gabby, despite not being abused. Still feel lonely as an adult. Remembered her. Now feel sad
So I am glad I am ABSOLUTELY wrong that she’s a devil.
But it seems like she’s helping the owner of the tapes to protect themself as a child, again, I’ve been hearing that it’s their father, but can’t be entirely sure right now.
But it’s cool seeing a character in a vsh actually help a person instead of just out right slitting their throat.
God speed for Francis lol
From what I've noticed Gabby really isn't the villain here. It's whatever force outside that is. This is interesting.
i just noticed that gabby's eyes follow "him" through the screen just before she says nod once how have i failed to notice that until now
I'm really glad that gabby isn't an evil character, it's different than most of these shows
this actually made me tear up. like, I just started crying towards the end. oh boy.
This episode means a lot to me. Its what i needed to hear growing up and still do.
what can i say that hasn't been said already? This delivers it's message without half an hour of pseudo scary exposition, no photoshop faces, no jumpscares visual or audio
just, this lonely tragedy
this is very special
This is amazing. Such wonderful work!
This is SO GOOD
No gabby said hold that up of the gun that the person who had it so people kinda need to understand
This would be such a good idea for a movie
Gabby knowing about gun safety; the way they are built, and being able to convey it to a kid is one of the greatest things ive seen out of analog horror
I love Gabby, she is so protective and caring
Wow... I only learnt about this series' existence, like, 15 minutes ago and I'm already fond of Gabby! She's adorable.
Oh how wonderful! I love how she acts when you climb back down! So worried and concerned that you'll fall.
I love how Francis is in autopilot mode
I know this is supposed to be horror but this is just so cute! I wish I had a guardian angle like her omg
For some reason
This is so comforting. My comfort plush is a sleep paralysis demon in the form of a demon, and I don't know why this just tugs at my heart.
if that is the case gabby must have to live with a lot of guilt with everyone she couldn't help
"The lord is my glock"
This series is blowing me away like holy shit
ANALOG HORROR IS FINALLY ALIVE AGAIN! YEAHHHH! HELL YEAHHH!
This episode seems really relaxing to me...
The way Frances is getting ignored by gabby 😭
Angel Gabby: "The real sword of the spirit isn't a weapon... Unless..."
long messy comment + some spoilers below
I saw a video playing/reviewing the game made for this series in my recommended, and even though the art caught my eye, I thought it was going to be overall cutesy with the horror elements interspersed and increasing, the wholesomeness being a complete facade story-wise and mostly used for surface-level aesthetic value. Which isn’t necessarily bad, it’s just overdone and a lot easier to do than what this series does. Even at the end, when (spoilers!) nothing bad happened, I thought that it would cut to gore or screams or at least correspond to a real-life murder or something. The game was just slightly unnerving with how personal it was throughout, with a few missed steps but otherwise completely innocent.
I don’t have much experience with religion (or VHS), but it feels like Angel Hare definitely could’ve been a real thing. The idea of cartoon characters talking to you through the screen as a kid and comforting you and being your best friend is so genuinely wholesome and naïve, and it’s something I’ve almost completely forgotten about. It’s just something a kid would think. Kids. They’re just new to the world, and they don’t even know it because it’s all they know. There’s just so much they aren’t aware of or don’t understand, but in those years of building up information they lose a lot, too.
I absolutely love that the horror elements, both Jonas’s childhood experiences and rediscovering them in adulthood, are based in reality (well, I just started the series so I don’t know if his forgetting is heavenly interference or regular trauma). I also love that there’s two concrete, canonical versions of the recordings, for reality’s sake, and you can obviously see which one was the personal version, even without comparing them. It must be so weird, to think at first that you’ve just misremembered something fond from childhood, especially since you can’t remember most of your childhood anyways, only to find out that not only do you have a recorded experience of something unexplainable using concrete logic, it was integral to events so dark you can’t remember them and that your own mother refuses to acknowledge. To listen to one side of a conversation you were once on the opposite side of, to have forgotten something so personal and now search for the intricacies surrounding and including it.
This series is a wonderful change of pace and double subversion, but more importantly, it’s incredibly well-executed. All of the dedication it must require, the animation, voice acting, characters, story, music, making literal VHS copies- the time, money, and effort spent on this project is phenomenal. It encapsulates the feel of the entire aesthetic, without relying on chromatic aberration or glitch effects just to make it “scary” or jumpcut to a disturbing image/sound. Religion, morality, innocence, personal experience and memory, truth- this series has already accomplished so much by the third episode, without using what one would expect analog horror to require (if you would call this series that). Everything Gabby/Gabriel says is haunting and comforting and poignant. Judging by her powers and demeanor, I am looking forward to watching the rest of this series.
Thank you for the meaningful and kind words. To have someone thoughtfully articulate such high praise means the world to us, and we greatly appreciate you taking the time to share so generously. Comments like these really fuel us forward - I hope we don't disappoint you!
oh my god
"Can you hold it up so I can see what kind it is?"
Ayo, what the fu-!
hearing a cartoon character describing what sounds to be a GUN, recognising them by MODELS, to help a child, without even being the actual evil, but instead the good character is.... disturbing actually.
I feel like I know now that the “he “ in episode/tape 2 is a abusive father because Jonah’s mother I think actually lied about the scars from horse play and it was probably from the father (it’s just a theory, A ANALOG HORROR THEORY-)
best part is the random andy griffith tape
The escalation has been quite tasty
This series hurts my heart so bad.
Love that "incriminating" slip-up. Gabby could be worried about herself or Jonah in that situation, but she still takes the time to remember he wouldn't know what the word means.
Stephanie Varens does such a great job as Gabby, I love that love and concern she has
0:13 We never saw tape 5: “Dealing With Bullies.” Angel Gabby told Jonah to put the TV on and then go to a friend’s house.
Episode five is called “Footage Not Found.” Whatever Angel Gabby did was probably not recorded.
I can’t be the first person who saw that, right?
Do we know what Angel Gabby told Jonah to take apart? A lot of people theorize that it's a gun of some sort, but she's so calm about it that it can't be that dangerous.
You know, i didnt grow up in an abusive household, but there was guns everywhere because of my dad. They were mostly laid out on his nightstand or anywhere in the house where i could get it, he taught me how to shoot one too. But he never taught me how to hide them, this video had a different comfort to me. It taught me how to unload the bullets. It taught me how to be careful around them. It taught me how to *hide* them.
I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop... I can tell something's coming but I have no idea where from.
