Say what one will about the CWs writing, when it came to the costume design (for the most part) was on point, they created multiple good prototype Flash suits that would get upgraded later on, they created what to me is the best Reverse Flash look in season 1 with the extra black just adding so much to the overall color scheme, and they created a new Zoom suit that fits their version of Zolomon absolutely incredibly and is my favorite suit of the show, definitely elevated the series while watching it to see such cool suits.
The yellow fading to black on Reverse Flash’s suit just added so much to the suit. The implication that the yellow paint either faded or burnt out due to rigorous friction on the arm & legs is great.

If they did the updated cowl design but with the cowl material they used for season 6 and beyond, that would've been the (almost) perfect classic Flash suit. But the cowl/helmet material and the weird blend ruins it.
I agree with everything except the last few. CW s4 suit is perfect in my eyes, and the s6-9 suit(s) looks to awkward to me. Probably mostly cuz i just never really liked the skintight look for live action stuff. Also the armored DCEU suit kinda grew on me a little, I kinda like it more than the Flash movie suit, but that decision changes all the time, so eh.
JL suit is much like an armor and more practical for daily hero stuff. He is fast but still can be shot for example while standing so an extra protection is a nice touch.
I dont really dislike the armored ezra suit in concept. It would make sense that a kid who just discovered he can run faster than most people can conceive would want to wear armor to protect himself, i just think that in practice it doesnt look very good. And thats not to say armored speedsters cant look awesome. Look at savitar, his armor is rad. Even more than looks though, i wish that a speecster wearing armor would adjust their fighting style appropriately. Like instead of punching and kicking at super speed wearing armor opens up the possibility of slamming into them with your whole body which would be way more effective than a punch but might not be good to use against regular people
In my opinion the suit in the flash movie is the best by far and the idea the lines in his suit glowing up when he is using his powers is awesome. The only reason it looks weird in some shots it's because of the bad cgi
AS MUCH as I’ll ALWAYS say Ezra was the WRONG choice to play Barry and OVER TIME I’ve gotten used to his suit and can find things I actually do appreciate what they were going for BUT, the funny thing is that the first Ezra Miller suit actually looks GOOD when Ezra is just standing around and or in actual motion, unlike Miller’s movie suit where the ENTIRE suit looks completely cgi the entire movie where the first suit looks REAL the ENTIRE time every time Ezra would wear that suit, which sucks because DC posted REAL suits for this movie but Barry’s suit in real life looks NOTHING like that dog shit Sharkboy and Lavagirl cgi suit that was in the actual movie (Also I’m kinda sick of them making Barry on the younger side they already did that with Grant, is it so hard to ask for an COMIC ACCURATE Barry Allen? Trust me, back in the 70s, we weren't too impressed with the Legends of the Superheroes' Flash costume either. Though, showing our age and the times, most of us really liked GL and Solomon Grundy. Even Hawkman....kinda.
Something minor you forgot to mention about the season 6-9 flash suit is the new wing ear pieces which are very welcomed and fit the whole suit perfectly.
Okay, I need to gripe about something I've been sitting on for a while and the JL movie Flash suit has boiled me over... ...FINGERLESS GLOVES ON A CHARACTER WHO WANTS TO *HIDE THEIR IDENTITY* IS STUPID AND SHOULDN'T EXIST! Who in their right mind would think it's a good idea. If you're hiding your identity (meaning from EVERYONE) why on this green Earth would you leave uncovered ONE OF THE MAIN WAYS WE IDENTIFY BODIES/PEOPLE???? Thankfully, it doesn't happen often, but good night when it does show up I want to scream like Edna from Incredibles over CAPES!
The muscles were explained as the suit molded and expanded because it was an experimental deep sea diving suit. It would need that for the pressures the diver would encounter
Its such a shame we got an amazing suit in the worst script/writing of the show, I think it gets a lot more hate because of that correlation. literally everything else other than CW writing and Effects budget are amazing in this show
I still think the jl suit was very good it's like the Spiderman suit in no way home it's not perfectly "cannon" like in the end but it fits and no way in hell looks bad the exposed fingers are really something I don't mind infact for that suit I thinks it's the best choice. and your reasons are kind of why I love that suit specially for a dark theme it's made for
I love Grant, and I hate to be an asshole here, but his body type really didn't do the suits justice, he needed some muscle suit, or something, the suit was great but he lacked the "super hero" proportions that would've made it look waay better, imo
I think the S4 suit is perfect besides not having gold boots. I also think S6-9 suit is overrated. It looks cheap IMO. 1. S4 2. The Flash Movie 3. ZSJL 4. S2 5. S1 6. S8-9
Agreed with number 1. Looks like it was ripped right out of the comics. Love the more fabric look for it, and the fact that there are no fake muscles. Not to mention the flawless cowl connection to the suit. And the gold boots are so good to see in live action finally.
@leafyishereisdumbname aka ThanosetalgicMemeories Don't get me wrong the s9 suit is definitely my 2nd favorite I like the material how comfortable it looks and the gold boots but the s4 suit thoughbit was the leather jacket look just look so well done and was a major improvement yk
I have to disagree and say the S5 suit was not NEARLY as bad as many said. Imo everything below the neck is actually better than the suits that came after, besides the weird diamond on the chest, and the lack of the gold boots. And also the lack of a chin strap is NOT a con. It’s not like Robert Pattinson levels but Grant has a pretty decent jawline, and the classic comic Flash costume went ages without a chin strap. The only reason it looks bad is because of how bulky and disconnected the cowl looks, it looks more like a helmet. The S6 and beyond cowls without a chin strap would have been amazing I’m sure but people complained very loudly about the wrong part of the cowl and the whole thing got walked back.
I'm gonna be honest. Season 5 suit is my favorite BY FAR. I dislike everything else on the list except the Ezra new Flash suit. There are aspects of some of the cw suits I like like the velvety stuff on the first and second season suits. But yeah I viscerally hate the suits but I have to respect them because of the practical inuniverse material (firefighter stuff) and the look for them as the story goes on
You have to laugh at the fact we got the best suit in the season with probably the lowest amount of flash screen time, if you don't laugh you have to cry.
I don't see how the justice league suit loses the flash identity because it's an armor desig. That's like saying any batman suit that's armor loses the character's identity. The suit has everything the comic suit has besides the yellow boots. In a way it's more comic accurate than most of the cw suits since it's a brighter red, it has the gold around the waist and arms, and has wings on the mask instead of lighting bolts. Also like the pre new 52 suit, it doesn't have a chinstrap and a gold outline around the symbol.
The CW suits are my favorite. But honestly, the Season 9 suit, and the Season 4 suit were perfect. In third I actually like Barry’s new suit in the Flash movie. I just wish the helmet and the boots change.
I can give JL Flash's armored look a pass simply cause he was new to his speed and thus was overprotective but that defense gets lost with the fingerless gloves
Season 9 Flash suit with the golden boots was truly the peak Flash suit that is directly tied to DC rebirth Flash suit And it's honestly the greatest peak Flash suit Grant Gustin has ever weared The other Flash suit without the chin strap was horrendous I hated it with extreme passion season 4 Flash suit is honestly my top number one favorite It was just absolute perfection as for Ezra Miller I hate his armored Flash suit The Flash doesn't need armor But you can I get they tried to make Flash look good on the big screen but they failed horribly The majority of Flash fans hated the armored Flash suit For good reason and after watching The Flash movie I actually love his DC rebirth Flash suit Even if it doesn't have no chin strap but it looks perfectly sealed around his head unlike Grant Gustin season 6 Flash cowl without the chin strap looked so damn uneven and so out of place I also hated Ezra Miller nightmare Flash suit which had way too much armor and that armored helmet was the stupidest thing I have ever seen However I did sort of like his BatFlash suit that he made the suit on his own It was pretty cool looking other than that The Flash movie is not as bad as I thought it was but there were so many missed opportunities to bring in Jeffrey Dean Morgan Thomas Wayne Batman And he said himself he was readily available but they never took advantage of him or made Margot Robbie as Yo-Yo or bring in reverse flash but the one character they butchered Is Sasha Calle Supergirl Kara Zor-El does not have short black hair She always had blonde hair how could the director of the Flash movie fuck that up? Instead the director should have went with Laura Lane Kent 🤦♂️ That's all I can say.
I actually prefer the season 1 A cowl over the season 1 B cowl but that's just me. The mouth piece stopping at the same part the eyes do just looks wrong for me.
Movies and Tv shows want to protray super hero/villian movies accurately to the source material but I think that is where they should be careful. As a fan of super hero/villian movies, I like the story being similar to the comice but not entirely shot for shot. This is also for the suits, the suits need to be made from material that can be achieved from the environment of the character. This is why the spiderman suits from Tobey Miguire and Andrew Garfield look amazing, their suits have their own personality and likeness. Some don't like Tom Hollands suit as it is very skin tight like the comics with no depth, yes it has emoting eye pieces but they don't sell the whole thing. Comic accurate suits are terrible for "live action", it is not practical or look great. The characters are overly shredded or buff with skin tight fabric in the comics which is quite unachievable for a person doing a movie or show that has limited time and ability. Suits in the Flash seasons 5 to 9 suits are not great. Sure they are comic accurate but they don't feel 'live action" or practical, in real life who would actually wear spandex to fight crime? An example of suits that look good are the Superman and Batman suits in Zack Synder's movies, they are not comic accurate with the material or design shown by the lack of underwear on the outside and skin tight spandex. Yet the suits are nice because they contains general information everyone knows. Superman: S on chest, colors being red blue and gold. Batman: black or grey suit with bat symbol on chest, and pointy ears. The flash's aspect is red suit with lightning bolt on chest, ears, waist, and shoes. Having these easily seen characteristics will help the viewer like the suit, making it comic accurate with the material and design lacks the characteristics of a "live action" movie. Back to the Flash: In seasons 5 to 9, the suit being spandex or whatever material is comic accurate to the skin tight suits of the comics but don't look as great as the season 1 to 4 suits. The leather suits were nice, the unhidden zipper showed its aspect of being a "live action" protroyal as it shows how the person will interact with the suit to put on or remove. Also the defining features of the CW was the leather suits as shown in the Arrow, the change of material and design was too much. It lost its creativity, rememberaility, and practically of the suits.Overall, making a comic accurate suit is not worth it as there should be a difference between the two media, colors don't work with the writing or production, and inconsistent.
The Black Lion , if you had done your research like watching the '90s flash show you would have known it was explained in the pilot why the muscles were exaggerated. Tina McGee said it was a deep sea diving suit that molded to the body and expands for the high pressures( much like any speedster would encounter) It is based more in reality than any of the other suits.
When watching the Flash movie yesterday, the bit where Barry was talking to Iris and he says “I have no further comments” my brother whispered to me, “Ezra Miller talking to the press.”

The S5 suit looked so good on Grant without the mask/cowl on ffs
If they did the updated cowl design but with the cowl material they used for season 6 and beyond, that would've been the (almost) perfect classic Flash suit. But the cowl/helmet material and the weird blend ruins it.
It seriously looked so good. Even with the cowl it is by far my favorite
John Wesley Shipp has the best flash suit by farr!!
(Edit)(The updated suit)
Can’t wait to see Janes Gunn adapt the flash in the DCU. Idk when he’ll do it, but can’t wait to see it
I’d love a live action version of the Wally West rebirth
13:27 lmao this is a genuinely funny sequence with the commentary in the background
I'd love to see more costume ranking videos!
I 100% agree. The movie suit is INCREDIBLE, and the Justice League one too. Just needs a bit more yellow on it tho.
AS MUCH as I’ll ALWAYS say Ezra was the WRONG choice to play Barry and OVER TIME I’ve gotten used to his suit and can find things I actually do appreciate what they were going for BUT, the funny thing is that the first Ezra Miller suit actually looks GOOD when Ezra is just standing around and or in actual motion, unlike Miller’s movie suit where the ENTIRE suit looks completely cgi the entire movie where the first suit looks REAL the ENTIRE time every time Ezra would wear that suit, which sucks because DC posted REAL suits for this movie but Barry’s suit in real life looks NOTHING like that dog shit Sharkboy and Lavagirl cgi suit that was in the actual movie
(Also I’m kinda sick of them making Barry on the younger side they already did that with Grant, is it so hard to ask for an COMIC ACCURATE Barry Allen? Where he’s been working for the CCPD as a CSI for YEARS and who’s been the flash for a few years so an actual EXPERIENCED Flash with idk again is it so hard to ask for an actor with BLONDE hair? Like really WB/ DC tf y’all doing over there??
the S3 and S4 suits are honestly my favorite ones. I just never liked the S5-S9 ones because the suits made Barry look fatter.
THANK YOU!!! S8-9 IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECTION !!!

6:29 damn i feel like im the only one who thinks it is probably the nicest flash suit ever adapted next to the flash season 4 suit
In my opinion season 4 suit was the best one
samee
Everyone thinks so
@@leafyishereisdumbnameakath4259 Cuz it iiisss
@@alexdeghost2729 looking at it again I can see why although I kinda hate it too at times. But yeah it's great. My favorite suits will get me hated on as well as my other cw flash opinions. I'll make a video about it soon one day and get so much hate
Trust me, back in the 70s, we weren't too impressed with the Legends of the Superheroes' Flash costume either. Though, showing our age and the times, most of us really liked GL and Solomon Grundy. Even Hawkman....kinda.
An rf version of the 2023 flash suit would be sick 🔥
Something minor you forgot to mention about the season 6-9 flash suit is the new wing ear pieces which are very welcomed and fit the whole suit perfectly.
In my Opinion, The s4 suit never got beaten it was perfect peak. But yes The new adaptation of the suit was great too
NGL i think the season 2-3 suit is the better then any version of flash either comic animations or live action. it is the ultimate suit for me
Okay, I need to gripe about something I've been sitting on for a while and the JL movie Flash suit has boiled me over...
...FINGERLESS GLOVES ON A CHARACTER WHO WANTS TO *HIDE THEIR IDENTITY* IS STUPID AND SHOULDN'T EXIST!
The muscles on the 90s suit give it that comic book vibe, and John Wesley ship was fucking MASSIVE
The muscles were explained as the suit molded and expanded because it was an experimental deep sea diving suit. It would need that for the pressures the diver would encounter
If they gave Ezra millers a solid gold lightning belt and got rid of the fake abs I would have had a hard time telling which one was my favorite
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but the new Flash suit from the movie is the best suit from any live action iteration
Agreed
agreed
You are simply blind sir
They should of recreated the design details of the season 4 suit onto the final one.
The season 5 helm has such a big ass cranium it’s funny
So basicly they wasted millions of dollars for peoples opinion?
Will you do a ranking of live action villain speedster costumes?
That would be great
Get the season 4 suit, add the gold boots 🔥🔥🔥
love the Flash CW season 4 suit!
1. S4
2. The Flash Movie
3. ZSJL
4. S2
5. S1
6. S8-9
The best flash suit is season 4 it’s amazing in every way always looks good and was a much needed upgrade just wish it got more screen time
Season 4 suit looks the best no cap
I think Season 4 suit, with season 8 wings and golden boots would be PERFECT
I prefer the older CW suits compared to the new ones, which look like The Twizzler more than The Flash.
Agreed with number 1. Looks like it was ripped right out of the comics. Love the more fabric look for it, and the fact that there are no fake muscles. Not to mention the flawless cowl connection to the suit. And the gold boots are so good to see in live action finally.
if the s4 suit had brighter red and golden boots it wouldve been perfect
Season 4 suit superiority
Ngl for some reason I love the young Barry suit from the flash movie
This is pretty accurate ngl. My favorite flash suit though s9 flash suit is fire. For me its the season 4 suit
Imagine Season 4 suit with gold boots
@@alexdeghost2729 that would have been phenomenal to witness. I might have to draw that now
@@XX_14days Do it! Tell me when it’s finished!
Yeah you and everyone else
@leafyishereisdumbname aka ThanosetalgicMemeories Don't get me wrong the s9 suit is definitely my 2nd favorite I like the material how comfortable it looks and the gold boots but the s4 suit thoughbit was the leather jacket look just look so well done and was a major improvement yk
John Wesley suit looks like a Mattel action figure
But yeah I viscerally hate the suits but I have to respect them because of the practical inuniverse material (firefighter stuff) and the look for them as the story goes on
In my opinion the suit in the flash movie is the best by far
Ezra DCEU suit is the mark 2 that he made to deal with the extreme friction he generates
Im ready for a flash animated series at this point
I can give JL Flash's armored look a pass simply cause he was new to his speed and thus was overprotective but that defense gets lost with the fingerless gloves
I actually kinda liked the batsuit, it made flash look like an absolute tank.
Flash is him
Season 9 Flash suit with the golden boots was truly the peak Flash suit that is directly tied to DC rebirth Flash suit And it's honestly the greatest peak Flash suit Grant Gustin has ever weared The other Flash suit without the chin strap was horrendous I hated it with extreme passion season 4 Flash suit is honestly my top number one favorite It was just absolute perfection as for Ezra Miller I hate his armored Flash suit The Flash doesn't need armor But you can I get they tried to make Flash look good on the big screen but they failed horribly The majority of Flash fans hated the armored Flash suit For good reason and after watching The Flash movie I actually love his DC rebirth Flash suit Even if it doesn't have no chin strap but it looks perfectly sealed around his head unlike Grant Gustin season 6 Flash cowl without the chin strap looked so damn uneven and so out of place I also hated Ezra Miller nightmare Flash suit which had way too much armor and that armored helmet was the stupidest thing I have ever seen However I did sort of like his BatFlash suit that he made the suit on his own It was pretty cool looking other than that The Flash movie is not as bad as I thought it was but there were so many missed opportunities to bring in Jeffrey Dean Morgan Thomas Wayne Batman And he said himself he was readily available but they never took advantage of him or made Margot Robbie as Yo-Yo or bring in reverse flash but the one character they butchered Is Sasha Calle Supergirl Kara Zor-El does not have short black hair She always had blonde hair how could the director of the Flash movie fuck that up? Instead the director should have went with Laura Lane Kent 🤦♂️ That's all I can say.
I totally agree 💯
@@SplitGamingReviews 👍😁👍
I kinda wished they used reverse flash season 8 suit but with the colors switched as a little updated suit for Barry
What the show should've done to the Flash Suits
The Flash Season 4 Suit
Seasons 4 - 5
The Flash Season 8 Suit with Gold Boots
Seasons 6 - 9
Young Barry’s suit in The Flash movie being a hacked-up, poorly painted-over Batman suit is almost too perfect of a metaphor for the movie itself.
nah bro s4's suit is the best cant change my mind
Savitar and all of Grant Gustin (except Season 5) suits are my favorites!
I like the leather suits wayyyy more than the fabric suits
Don’t care season 4 suit is by far the best
You forgot about the big bang theory flash
The Black Lion , if you had done your research like watching the '90s flash show you would have known it was explained in the pilot why the muscles were exaggerated. Tina McGee said it was a deep sea diving suit that molded to the body and expands for the high pressures( much like any speedster would encounter) It is based more in reality than any of the other suits.
