It always blows my mind how you manage to make something that looks so complex into something simple and easy. Love your tutorials! Thank you for posting them :)
I'm using inkscape and gimp for a long time and after I found your tutorials I really improved my skills! I have a small youtube game channel and if you check it out it almost all art was done after watching your tutorials! I have a suggestion for a tutorial! have you ever thought make a stream game layout? game stream layout is a group of images that overlaps the game screen and contains information to watchers. Sorry for my english, it is not my first language :) and thank you for all this great content!
YOU SAVED MY LIFE I WAS DESIGNING A BOOK COVER FOR MY FRIEND AND I ONLY HAD THE GIMP TUTORIAL THAT YOU POSTED BUT YOU POSTED THIS JUST IN TIME IM SO HAPPY THANKS
Hello Nick. I learned how to use Inkscape from you. So, I feel like a kind of I owe you: As you know, an annoying thing about Inkscape is that every single time you open a new document, first you have to go to the "document properties" and adjust the settings. For example: page size, no border and px instead of cm. Yet, there's an easy way to put your own default settings once and for all. And here's how (for Windows): 1. C:/ >Program Files, >Inkscape, >Share, >Templates. In there you'll find an svg file called "default" (the one with just the word, "default"). 2. Open this file with Inkscape. Don't expect to see anything. It will look like you just opened Inkscape as you always do. Open "Document Properties". Put YOUR settings. Like px instead of cm, no border and page size -I've changed that to my laptop's screen resolution and in landscape mode. This way, when I create something, I can always check how large is large :) 3. Close "Document Properties". Go to "File", "Save". That's it. BINGO! Note: If it doesn't allow you to save it, it's because Inkscape wasn't opened "as administrator". In this case, no worries: Instead of "save", select "save as": (name of the file=) default, (type of the file=) Inkscape svg -I guess "plain svg" works as well-, and save it on your desktop. Finally, take it from there and paste it inside the file: C:/ >Program Files, >Inkscape, >Share, >Templates and replace it with the original "default" svg file. Enjoy Inkscape! P.S. If you want, you can keep the original default settings file elsewhere for just in case.
I have been following for a while, thanks for keep posting these videos! I'm curious, why did you switch from Linux (Ubuntu if I'm not wrong) to Windows? Love your work, thank you!
Nick, as always, thank you for sharing. Internet has been off for a day and the email told me to run to the UA-cam office ... This looks good fun! Many thanks! West
Hey Nick, great videos, thank you for sharing! I have a question, when I export my icons to png, I have noticed a change in quality colors, so I have to import the paths and work it with Gimp. Any setting I should be looking at in Inkscape to get my png export WYSIWYG?
Hi! I've just recently moved from Windows to Linux and I might just as well swap out PS and AI for Inkscape/GIMP. Do you think this duo can replace the old Creative Cloud tools for someone that works in the graphic design area (mostly UI/UX design)?
Hey I was having trouble on the program. I tried following along on your banner tutorial but my nodes weren’t snapping where I wanted them too so the cuts were coming out odd. Any tips on how to fix this?
One quick question, whats the software you're using to record tutorials and capture keyboard keys? Excelents videos btw. keep the good job, very professional
Hello Nick, It would not be wrong to say that I have learnt graphics desigining through your amazing tutorials. I have learnt a lot of things but I have a request. I am professionally working as a graphics designer and now I want to create watercolour flowers for wedding cards etc . I checked your tutorial for creating custom brushes in inkscape but I did not find a way to create watercolour brsuhes. Please It is a humble request that you make a tutorial on creating watercolour brushes in inkscape.Otherwise , I'll have to switch to illustrator. Please help me.I don't know If I could get a reply from you but please solve this issue.
@@LogosByNick Thank you so much, but I have downloaded krita for this purpose. Keep up the good work and come up with new tutorials. Thanks for your efforts.
Hey, I'm a bit late, but did you take the font from the website he mentioned? you can find it here: www.dafont.com/8bit-wonder.font You just need to download the zip file and open the TTF file inside, then click to the install button.
I agree, to do something more relistic, we need to use gimp, but if we want to do logos we head over to Inscape. When you make something larger the quality does not change.

I don't think it's possible to make a watercolor brush in Inkscape, but I'll look into it. I would use GIMP for this personally.
@@LogosByNick Thank you so much, but I have downloaded krita for this purpose. Keep up the good work and come up with new tutorials. Thanks for your efforts.
we can just do it with letters or objets too?thanks
It'll work with objects as well. As long as they're vector paths and ungrouped.
no imean for example if i wanna do with a pool ball only.I tryed but ...im a begginer still
as soon as i click object and then division everhything is getting deleted .. what am i doing wrong can someone help ?
how do i request one?
Nice :D
what version of inkscape are you using?
0.92.1
ik
where did you get the 8bit text?
you can download it online. search 8 bit font
why do you always ungroup the text and unify it before editing ?
Something to do with turning text into objects.
my inkscape dont have this font
i dont know what i make

Isn't there a program that shows the buttons pressed? Why don't u use one?
That would be great, but I haven't found a decent one for Windows yet. I'm open to suggestions.
There, i think this on is decent. ua-cam.com/video/WAJ8xILifF0/v-deo.html But can't test ist out by myself, because i run linux.
It's 10 times quicker, if you make it in GIMP.
Yes it is. It's better to have it in vectors though.
Yeah right. Inscape is a really cool tool. I tryed to use it, but i will stay with gimp. I actually learned how to use gimp thanks to your videos !
Depends on what your use case is. Bitmap and Vector graphics each have different pros and cons. Which is why we have gimp and inkscape.
I agree, to do something more relistic, we need to use gimp, but if we want to do logos we head over to Inscape. When you make something larger the quality does not change.
Could you just turn a gimp image into a vector image? Inkscape has the vector tool?
