casio CZ used phase distortion not phase modulation (The 'skew' function on tides is basically what it did, but with fixed waveforms). yamaha TZ/DX series used phase modulation rather than thru zero FM.
Phase modulation is the basis for FM synthesis in famous synths like the DX-7 and the digitone as well. It's called FM synthesis just to annoy people. xD
Just bought the Contour, Compare, and 2 Selects for Xmas. There seems to be more logic functions in those 3 modules than all others on the market combined. Mr. J is def and EE turned musician rather than the other way around.
You wouldn’t be the same Quincas who made the wonderful Electro Cumbia tune quite a few years back would you?! Long shot, I know. Thanks for the vid, it’s a great guide to a very cool osc
Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems I can modulate my guitar tone with this, and with a variety of ways. For one: This is a guitar effect that can do ring modulation like no existing Ring mod pedal can do. Correct? Your thoughts please.
Hey! I tune in for synth DIY, and I was very stoked to see this, as I thought it might be available as PCB/panel/kit. Please start a sub heading on your channel for reviews of built stuff please. I'm all about you expanding your reach by offering reviews, but please segment it a little? Dope module and walk-through regardless, but I'm here for your discussion on DIY, and would love to see which is which from the get-go... I do appreciate your work, just got a little tricked. Cheers!
Hi! Yes, I do label my build videos and tutorials! I'm sorry this was confusing for you. In the future just look to see if it's a build or tutorial if you want to see my DIY content only. Cheers!
hey hey! i've one question about this module: on the description is says "Through-zero phase modulation with 900° of shift range." but i don't understand the 900° part; as a full wave cycle is 2pi radians or 360°, this got me a little confused. or is there some sort of phase "folding"?
Hi! I have no idea about the math, all I know is you can shift the phase, meaning you can move where the waveform starts and cycles in real time via either the phase knob or phase cv input.
@@QuincasMoreira yes the phase is the start of the cycle/waveform, which goes from 0° (start) then all the way up to +/- 360° or any of its integer multiples where it gets back to the start or 0° phase (eg: 0° = 360° = 720°, etc..), so 900° would go through the same cycle twice then one half, which is quite odd. aaaanyway all good im just being a hair-splitting nerd haha im sure there's a rational explanation :) thanks for your response and your amazing work on your channel :))
Having watched quite a few videos, they're extraordinary similar, but it seems to me the ZPO sounds just a hair better and for such a function packed module the larger size is actually preferable so I'm planning on getting the ZPO
@@VegaDW that might be my fault! If you can try them side to side. Also, honestly, this module does not feel cramped at all , despite the density of function/hp ;)
I had no intention of buying this module... just clicked for something to watch. Now where did I leave me wallet?
Fantastic jam at the end, btw!
for me this was the clearest demonstration of this module I watched. really good. excellent review

Yes, I was made aware of my mistake during the premiere, thanks :)
Fucking great demo of this module. The filtered sounds at the end are gorgeous.

yup, i was set straight during the premiere :)
Good dem, thanks for the insight whilst awaiting the delivery!
enjoy !
absolute chaos! cheers Quincas
Cheers!
Lol the laugh as you turn the smile I side down. Subbed
Super helpful and great presentation. Thanks a ton!
My pleasure! Thank you!
Excellent walk through this!
Nice and clear explanation
Thank you!
Love your videos Kinkas, throughout this excellent review I kept hearing some similarities to the Grendell, Tune in Tokyo device.
I need it now
that Sync sounded great!
Love it :)

And just to prove a point, I think your bottom row there has over 70 patch points! Count em!
@@freefinancialadvice Totally, it's part of what I love about Joran's designs :)
That sound... 🤤🤤🤤
Such a great demo - thanks! Out of interest which mixer are you using in this video?
Hexmix System by Befaco!
I was about to buy a Rubicon but THIS is something
Indeed it is :)
First the hair gone now the beard! Eyebrows next?

@@viennaditto I am indeed! Glad you like that tune, it was the beginning of my DIY journey :)
Synth Diy Guy aww mate!! That’s made my day! It is a TUNE and still one of my faves! Can I find any more of your modular cumbia anywhere?
@@viennaditto No more cumbias, but here's the album from that era :)

someone knows how the "joranalogue generate 3" compares to the new "SSF ZPO" for FM synthesis?

100% analog!
