    I fed the 1V/OCT from my QuBit Bloom into Compare 2 and two different oscilators and used the output from there into Select 2 to switch high note audio from one oscillator and low note audio from the other. It created a sort of call and response between the two oscillators.

      sounds like a fantastic patch and a great use of the modules. Thanks for sharing!

      Pleasure to work with the module. Same to anyone looking at this ... fire away with any questions for me or Joran.

      Nice designs! I just got the Switch4 which I really like. The Compare2 looks awesome!

      Hi quollism, I can't see or directly reply to your comment (check your G+ settings). To answer your question: there's no CPU/software in C2, only op-amps and CMOS logic. This means it's super fast without any latency.

      Hi -- could I use this module to extract random gates from white noise, with PWM to randomise the gate length simultaneously? Thanks!

    While I was watching this video, I was making a patch in Audulus, and suddenly I realized I needed to build a window comparator! Great videos, Ben.

      reviews flowing again? Did I have a spell of not doing them? ... any way there's a load of module specific overviews through December. 3 new AJH, 4 new Future Sound Systems, Befaco, Music Thing Modular and a little "something extra special" I'm cooking up for Christmas I'm sure most people will like.

      Hi Andrew, yeah absolutely. Very simple building blocks and often ones hidden away inside circuits doing things for us without us realising. Great to have them all in the forefront for playing with.

    Very nice! I get the feeling that something like this is at the heart of the AFG's Animated Pulses: triangle in, then invert the voltage of one comparator out and add it to the other, and you should get something very similar.

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid 6 років тому +2

      The double pulse sort of thing definitely features at the core of the animated pulses but regarding circuit I'm not sure how that goes. Totally love the AFG though.

    • @joranalogue
      @joranalogue 6 років тому +4

      I happen to have a couple of AFGs in the lab for calibration at the moment, so I was able to check this out. I agree that the animated pulses feature has a lot of similarities to Compare 2, and I was able to replicate it. Specifically, one window comparator is used for the positive part of the triangle (labelled +) and another for the negative (-). 'PWM' is size, 'PPM' is shift. The positive comparator output is then mixed together with the negative 'NOT' output. Another cool application for C2! ;)

    I bet you could create a trigger/gate that is frequency-dependant, using a copy of an existing melody that has been fed through a narrow bandpass or notch filter.
    I'll try it.

    what i have to do to compare 2 signals like a traditional comparator?

  • @pawwakill
    @pawwakill 6 років тому +3

    This looks more useful to other modules I was planning to get to get some complex gates, and it gives more functionality and nice controls. Very reasonably priced as well. Pulling the trigger here :-)

    wow! Thank you Ben for enlightening me on stereo window comparators, i am in awe! i'm gonna get one!! at 6.47 you introduce a sequence, it has some random glide [or portamento?] between the notes, it's very musical and something you do on many other videos. If i may ask, what is the source of these glides, is there a specific module that you put in between the sequencer and the oscillator that randomly assigns glides? thank you for being an inspiration

      Hello thanks for the thoughtful comment I appreciate it.
      Without listening back to this I can almost certainly say it will be the Tuesday algorithm based melody maker from This Is Not Rocket Science (video on my channel).
      Listening back, it could be Tuesday or it might be the Audio Damage Sequencer 1 as I used to program similar lines on that module. But ... I'm 90% sure that's Tuesday.

    1 of my pet peeves with dual modules is having them mirrored relative to eah other, y do makers do this? it'd be much more intuitive to have the same interface x2

    • @joranalogue
      @joranalogue 6 років тому +13

      Hey, thanks for your feedback! There's a few reasons why C2's panel layout is mirrored:
      - The big LEDs had to be on the outside of the module for best visibility;
      - It would have been difficult to effectively communicate the shift and size CV normalisation;
      - The circuit underneath is mirrored as well, simplifying the PCB layout;
      - I think it looks better. 8)

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid 6 років тому +2

      interesting, not really something I've heard talked about too much. I find it intuitive certainly on this module. I'm going to be thinking about it patching any dual modules I have now.

    • @nutritionalyeast7978
      @nutritionalyeast7978 6 років тому +2

      yah, sorry 2 b negative cos this module seems pretty ingenious otherwise

    • @schwajj
      @schwajj 6 років тому +4

      I prefer it the way it is. I think "outs under big LEDs" is perfectly intuitive (especially compared to, say, control forge), and the aesthetics are more balanced.
      Nice job, Joranalogue!
