Yep, that's just where I want to be, on the business end of the thrust of four 747 engines...Stupid!

This was one of my all-time bucket list items! Went there on a cruise and had to talk my reluctant wife and friends into going. When it was time to get off the ship they all turned on me and they didn't want to go. This was mostly due to one of the ships activity directors telling them it was a waste of time and not worth the taxi drive it took to get there. I was pissed!! When I decided I was going to go on my own, and I was fine with them going somewhere else, it kind of changed their minds, although they were not at all happy. When we were in the taxi line they realized how many other people from the ship were also heading that way, and they began to warm up to the idea. People in line who had been before were exited and talking it up. The taxi trip was long and uncomfortable, but we got to see parts of the island most don't get to see. Then we arrived and joined the large crowd of people enjoying the great beach and the local bar. When the planes began to land and take off, it was just fantastic! Now they all rave about being there and are very thankful I was so insistent I was going to go, even without them.

Quién les dijo pónganse atrás del avión cuando va a despegar. Esas son las graciosas consecuencias de vivir esta experiencia arriesgada y peligrosa de la aviación en esta famosa isla paradisiaca. Gracias.

I wonder: Do people not see or smell the exhaust? These folk are the recipients of a super-high dose of heated carcinogenic exhaust. It’s going deep, deep into their lungs. Irritation begins immediately. G’luck, humans. Youth really is wasted on the young!

I've been to St. Maarten a couple of times by cruise ship. Beautiful place. Especially, the French side but never was by the airport. Maybe someday. I've heard that people have actually died from being too close to the planes. I was curious, are they certain airports that are known for bad winds and weather issues, that cause planes to have rough landings or go arounds? Thanks for the interesting video. Keep up the good work.✈️

Stationed aboard the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk up on the flight deck.Have JBD's ( jet blast deflectors ) for a reason on the flight deck. Also prevent you from getting severely burned when a F14 would kick in the afterburners for a launch.Had to watch constantly for any plane, prop or jet, turning as there would be enough prop wash or jet blast to blow you over the side.If that's not bad enough you had to look out for getting sucked into a jet or hit buy a turning propeller.Wasn't offended when a shipmate threw me on the deck and I had to grab a padeye when a Tomcat turned on me.I wouldn't be surprised if a fighter ever took off from here with full afterburner there would still be people willing to take the challenge.

My wife & I experienced the FUN of the Jet Blast in 1991. Amazing- I went diving thru our car's open window to escape the sand that was "blasting me; it hurt. Wish I was young enough to do it again- now 85!

As the Sign's Say DANGER JET BLAST !!! As an Aircraft Engineer I have seen a number of Gas Turbine Engines that have failed during the Take off Run due to various reason the Main cause is Bird ingestion or a Foreign Object also known as FOD When the engine fails it throws debris out of the rear of the Engine or the By-pass propelling nozzle at Great speed and if the Turbine Has Failed then this will be Very Sharp super hot metal blade parts which would cause server injury to anyone standing in its path also there would be a Flame and possibly unburnt fuel that would be Highly Flammable as it is Heated It is also possible for the Engine to pick up small Stones or such like matter and Throw it at High speed past the core Engine down the By-Pass which again if a person is hit by these objects they will suffer serious injury also SO NOT A GOOD PLACE TO STAND THATS WHY WE THE PROFFESSIONALS WHO WORK ON THESE AIRCRAFT DO NOT ENTER THE UN SAFE AREAS AT THE FRONT SIDE AND REAR OF THE ENGINES

Random question: can holidaying in St.Marteen
be affordable or is this beautiful place mainly oriented to the expensive vacation target ?
Basically, are there small budget hotel packages available ? What about the average weekly cost
for a basic "just what you need" stay ?
    Thanks for your suggestions :-)

It seems the last free place on Earth. To think that a 747 no doubt is capable but is allowed to take off with such steep angles on a place like that, with tourists standing in the exhausts stream. It is AMAZING.
I knew this place already but it's nice to know it continues to exist... thanks for making this video.
