I love the square composition with the three photographers at the top of the dune. Definitely my favorite!
Minimalistic removing dune tops was fav.
The one without sky❤
Really amazing photos and a beautiful place to live fairly close too. This was a great blog. I love that you show us heaps of photos and not just 1 or 2. Thanks for sharing.
This is the kind of conditions I dream of if I ever get to go back to Death Valley! Beautiful collection of photos :D
minimalistic. The one with 3 dudes is the best.
Killer work, bud! Love the images at 13:30. Both are wonderful, but I prefer the one with the sky. I like the balance, and the gradient of lighter and lighter tones. This video inspires me to revisit my own folder of images from that amazing afternoon, and it's inspired me to maybe do a little bit more vlogging as well. Really been enjoying these videos.
That was a ton of fun man, loved being out there with you! Thanks so much!
Please do Josh - I miss your mazing content. And thanks Michael for a great video. :)
This is a great companion video to the recent video by nigel danson about diagonal lines!
Woww beautiful bro, amazing shot.....
That last image of the 3 people on the dunes is one of my all time favourite images. Amazing work
Man those conditions looked insane !! Every image was a banger too !! The more Mina most shot at 14 min was my preferred !! Stunning work as always buddy
Great video!! wonderful place
Wondering how your gear held up to all that blowing sand?
I love the one without the sky the most!!👍
This is what I really like. No bs just pure amazing image taking.
Epic video! Love the scenery😍 buuut…. someone should do a count of the word ”Dune” 😆
Liked the last image (without sky) even more than the previous one.
What a life! You are living your dream. I have learned you have two lives. The one we learn with and the one we live with. May the best of your life be the worse of your future. Be safe.
What A Great place and Great photografie thanks for sharing and thanks for the Great tip
Of the Gaia app, greatings 👍🏼
Mate this looks so so epic! Stunning video. I have only been to Death Valley once and only for one day. Can't wait to return!
I think that last photo was the best of all of them.
I personally would be tempted to convert to B&W for some of those shots. Great video
Of the two dune shots at 13:00, I like them both but I'm more drawn to the one with the sky cropped out. The image with the sky works as a traditional landscape. But without the sky, you get an abstraction that's all about luminosity and line, rather than a depiction of a specific place or object. I guess it's the painter in me that is drawn to minimalist abstractions. I presume those are the disparate aspects of the composition that you spoke of?
I prefer the 2nd image with no sky Michael. Great shots btw.
Beautiful quality images! I was there in 2015 and it was an Amazing and mind blowing place! I used one of your images for an example of color grading in a video on my channel ! You are a really great photographer
This was just amazing to watch guys and I loved the images you captured Michael. Wonderful light and conditions and you sure made the best of them.
Wow!! Nature is incredible, and so are these images. Magical.
Michael, how about a video on how you upload your videos to UA-cam in such a way that they maintain such beautiful resolution.
Incredible photos mate
Wow just amazing to watch buddy! Beautiful moments. I think I prefer the wider shot in this instant
Simply amazing series of images you showed us! Nicer than Nice.
Love your video! Your beautiful photos and background music, its like i was meditating for 20min.
I wish i had a desert in my country. Every image looks so gooood!
spectacular, as always! where are these dunes?
THE photos are so good, you are great photographer
Man watching this video makes me wanna cry it’s so good. I’m a wedding photographer who does landscapes on the side for personal pleasure. This video singlehandedly convinced me to finally pull the trigger on a super telephoto for landscapes
My mind exploded with your photos, so many possibilities, compositions, and how good this 100-400 lens is, thanks
Awesome stuff Michael, there is never any fast forwarding thru your videos. Love all the images you show.
I like the the three layers of brightness in thr first one. Very nice shot!
You really struck "gold" and "gold dust" on these Michael! I think I like the more minimal one without the sky as, sticking with my theme, it seems a little "richer" in color if that makes sense. But truly, I like so many of these including the ones with the photographers that gives scale and a story. Oh, and I was expecting Josh to blow the sand off the chip he dropped and picked up. I might have!! Lovely video.
Lovely photographs and your video is inspiring. Thanks.
Enjoyed your Death Valley video, I live about 4-5 hours north of DV and have been there 3 times from 18-20 years ago.
Planning to go there next week for a day in a half with the dunes being on top of the list.
Never been in the dunes so it should be fun, Love your videos they are definitely inspiring for amateur photographers and videographers
Superb series. I prefer the zoomed in shot just a wee bit more. The whole vlog made me remember our brains really are wired to see human shapes, I was seeing them all the time.
Absolutely outstanding dune photography Michael it makes me want to fly out to visit them, your work is an inspiration
Thanks so much Stephen!
Beautiful work, thanks for posting 👍
Definitely like the minimalist shot more! It allows for more imagination when viewing it which I find quite interesting:)
I just picked up a new telephoto lens 150-500mm coz of you and how inspiring your videos are
From the moment you posted the first image of the 3 people, I had determined to post a comment saying it was my favorite. But then you showed us the 2nd image of the 3 people which was an absolute BANGER and by far my fave of the lot.
I also find it interesting that you mention rarely shooting in vertical orientation at the dunes. I shoot vertical quite a lot and I find that it's outstanding in situations where there's a lot of depth and layering. Like at the dunes for example.
Well done, bravi guys
Amazing work of photography
@@peterroy330 thanks so much!
Wonderful video. You always inspire us to go out and explore.
great mood, video work, narration, and of course the images. Great!
Beautiful images and an amazing scene!! lovely work again!
Beautiful !
Those photos are mesmerizing! I swear that I can see the sand moving even though they are still images. Amazing and inspiring.
Hi Michael love you work I just watched a vid from [S5E14] Lifestyle Overland it reminded me of you as soon as I watched it it looks like an amazing place to photograph your welcome
Totally Awesome Video Michael....! Looking forward to one day getting there and trying out the photography tips you mention and experience the beauty of Death Valley with a camera in hand.
As for the cropping, I really like the simpler shots most of the time, but if it’s a story you want to tell, the additional elements (horizon, background, people, etc.) definitely help. Love your work, Michael. 👍🦘🇦🇺
Brutally good photos Michael, really enjoyed your video! How did you manage to have gear clean after all this sand, do you have some tips during the shoot or before/after?
what a great place, beautiful photos, from the picts you ask to choose I like the 2nd one better, you have a feel for the dunes better....
I love how relaxing your vids are even what I think would be a very complex subject to photograph. You have certainly inspired me to look at compositions in a very different way with long lenses to create a minimalistic image which I love.
I always enjoy your Dune Photography trips. This was hands down the best set of Dune pics I've seen. Trekking in sands is always fun, thanks for your perspective!
thank you so much!
Great video - I preferred the second more minimal of the two images
This is genuine bucket list photography, and you did such a great job conveying the feeling of being there. Damn, my nearest real dunes are exactly 1,993 km away! I smell a road trip…
8:00 wow this photo is really beautiful 🔥🔥، what's the name of the music in background ? Uplifting
Fantastic photos Michael! Hard to pick a favorite... As from the 2 ones you refer to, I prefer the one without the sky.
wow looks so nice but so windy! love the panorama. From the two shots, I too like them for different reasons, but I think I like the minimalist one more as you completely focus on the backlit ridge of the dune(s) in the front, great video!
They are all stunning images Michael, but how much sand & grit does your gear collect??
Great video and images too. When a look of someone of this i feel be in a other world. Very impressive Michael.
Simply stunning work Michael, a superb collection of images, of the two compositions you picked out I prefer the second would look great on any wall. Thanks as always for sharing.
That was a great day buddy! So fun, so productive. It was fun to see how you assembled snippets of our experience to make something inspiring! Meanwhile, I haven't even processed those images yet... I just imagine you there on your 8th cup of coffee editing this, haha.
This is so incredible, Michael!! I never had a huge desire to go to the dunes, but now I have to go!!
Where was the location? , great video as usual
Awesome
Wow, every time you shoot dunes or fog I know it's going to be magical and this effort was just off the charts awesome! I loved all the images but the horizontal shot including the 3 photographers with the windblown sand at the bottom of the frame was my absolute favorite.
Awesome photos. I'd be interested to see what a wide angle shot would look like with the camera low down to get close up view of the patterns in the sand. Maybe that would just make the dunes look too far away and take away their grandeur.
I've been trying to decide where to go for this year's first semi-annual landscape photography road trip. I think this vlog has made the decision much easier. DVNP, here I come! Spectacular shots, as usual. I think my favorite is the second one with the three photographers on the ridge at 14:15. Great story there!
Great pictures!! Do any of these shots end up as black and whites??
Just a great job all around Michael. The images were fantastic and your story telling with the video was exceptional. Keep up the good work.
Mindblowing stuff, congratulations on those wonderful captures. My two cents on the image with the horizon vs without the horizon: while I love the abstract nature of the more cropped composition, I love how the more pulled-back image conveys an entire world that exists beyond the frame. Almost an uncharted planet kind of feeling. And I also adore your vertical shot with the three figures in the distance. The way the light wraps around them and slightly blows out the details of the shape helps to abstract them slightly, allowing for more of an interpretation of their motivations. Love it man, keep up the amazing work.
Hi Michael
Great video and photos as always. Truly inspiring stuff and you are such an inspiration
It would be fun to see a video abort how you clean your gear after such a trip😊
Great video as always ! Just one question, are you happy with the Sigma 100-400 ? Thanks !
great video and great pictures. I will highly recommend you to check out white sands national park if you haven't already been there. Could you make a video of cleaning camera and camera bag after this trip? I am always scared of using my camera in dunes even more than using it in a light rain and would like know how did you manage to clean your equipment after this trip. Thanks
I swear you and adam gibbs are the only two photographers videos i watch. Thank you for this
Hey thanks so much for watching, I love Gibbs work as well!
Hi mate! Great photos! Where is this location?
Spectacular... so beautiful to see these images Michael... Thank you!
I noticed you guys eschewed lens hoods, I presume because they would catch the wind and introduce camera shake. Do you worry about wind-blown sand scratching the front element?
Awesome video as always!
I'd love to go there. Dunes are really inspiring. In France we have the Pila dune (the biggest dune in Europe) and I'm so glad to live less than an hour from there !
How do you get rid of the sand in the focusing/focal ring ahah ? My 70-200's rings are crunchy now and I'm so scared to get back out there with my new gear
Beautiful light! At 13:30 I prefer the second (minimalistic image). Any problems with the sand working into your gear?
now this is why your photography inspires me amazing shots great video no matter if its sand or water or abstract realy enjoy your work tnx for sharing
Spectacular, what an enjoyable video. I like the images where you can't see the sky, at 14:05, I prefer the one on the right. However, the image with the three photographers in silhouette I believe is my favorite overall (second composition) as I like the story it tells of people sharing spectacular moments with friends and colleagues.
Enjoyed the program.
How much sand do you have to clean up after the the photo op?
Thx
These images makes me emotional...just breathtaking. You are an inspiration, don't stop :)
Your videos are always so beautiful and inspiring! Nice work again!
Loved the video! I'm heading to Death Valley in 2 weeks and would really appreciate tips for shooting in the location to protect the camera, timing, locations, etc. Not sure if that is it's own video, an IG post, or whatever but I'd appreciate it!
You are without a doubt one of my favourite photographers and my favourite youtuber, very relaxing way of narrating your videos, almost asmr in effect 🙌 Stunning images as always
Sweet video, even sweeter images!! Before OODV?
Thanks so much man, this was a few days after that! Lets go shoot this year sometime!
@@MichaelShainblum That would be cool. I'd love to get back to Mt Tam, or Yosemite high country. Sad that Glacier Pt is closed this summer...
Amazing. I always try to learn from you. Can you post a video about how you clean your gear after this epic trip?
Wow, can't say anything more. I liked the minimalistic image without the sky.
minimalist shot without the tops of the dunes
