I appreciate you! Thanks so much for the support Marquess!
Why pause ?
So I don’t miss a single second of the video!
Bad conditions don’t exist in landscape photography , there’s always a shot and you sir have proven this once again !!
The storm shots were superb and the waterfall rainbow sublime !! Love this one buddy
Thanks so much for watching my video! Which image from this video ended up being your favorite? Please let me know below. Also, you can check out all of these images in high quality here in my new blog post, I also share some extended thoughts on weather conditions for landscape photography! www.shainblumphoto.com/2022/10/16/iceland-2/
This is a masterpiece of cinematography and filmaking! Well done!
The power of the image is intimidating. Pictures of the waterfall resemble gas nebulae in pictures of deep space. Congratulations on a big round of applause.
The pics at 11:51 and then at 11:59 are absolutely stunning, love how you managed to capture the movement of the water into those incredible textures. And they really gives the impression of being inside a storm: I can almost feel the humidity on my skin by just looking at them.
Bravo!!
Amazing work Michael, I really enjoy the intimate scenes you were able to capture on this trip. These personal views of this amazing place represent a new approach to the iconic shots we have come to see over and over. Thank you for sharing these images with us and inspiring us to find more out of our photography. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. You made me visit Iceland through your camera and this is what I do and believe as landscape photographer, make people visit different places through my camera.
Well for the waterfall photo it feels like there is a shadow of a baby on the left.
Thank you gain
photo's at 6:07 and 12:00 fantastic !!!
its what you said like a fairytail. Like a still from Lord of the rings.
congrats !!!
Definitely prefer the stormy shots. Some wonderful abstract images of that waterfall.
The shadowy "watcher" at 11:56 gives the image an eerie feeling. Nice shot, Michael.
Photos of Iceland just send me to primordial times. LOVE the shots you captured (as usual Michael - you are such a d**n fine photographer), and your points are all well taken. Do love the last shots on that crappy day - yes, big fan of the close-up of the dark and mythic falls. But I have to hand it to you for all the aerial shots w/ the drone, again - AHHHH ICELAND!!!!
My favorite shot was the same as yours. The close-up of the falls at 12:00. I didn't see a monster in it though, but I've got old eyes.
Thanks Wayne, I always love hearing other interpretations of the shots as well. I often see things that others don't in the images and vice versa :)
Inspirational photography, especially the close shots of the rainbow colours on the falls. Your mono close-up of the falls is breath-taking! Literally elemental, like the forge of life… thanks for sharing.
The waterfall images with with those rainbow colors almost look like pictures of galaxies. Beautiful!
Love the abstract water images the one at about 12,07 i can see a shadow of a head and shoulder great work.
Spectacular images both still and moving. The mythological creature pic... I see it too, and a wisened wizard in the background plus diving demons on the right half. So many faces. Love it.
Tu vídeo es tan majestuoso, hermoso, me transmite tanta paz. Eres bueno en lo que haces gracias por compartir tus increíbles fotografías. ❤️😊✨👏👏
Such incredible photos, Michael! Loved the rainbow waterfalls and the stormy ones from Haifoss 😁
Thanks Mads, I really appreciate it!
Beautiful, I was just there a few weeks ago and agree that it’s crazy how much weather & lighting change the same spots!
Always a joy to watch your videos. It truly opens my mind as to potential images. Especially with the longer lens. I do have a question, though. For various reasons I have a 70-200mm lens with a 1.4 and 2.0 extender. What are your thoughts on that combination vs a 100-400? (I shoot Sony and these are GM lenses). I have looked at pixel peeping comparisons of the 100-400 at 400 compared to the 70-200 w/ the 2.0 extender and I am not sure I would notice a difference in a print. What do you think? Would I have any problems trying to use the 70-200 w/ the extenders to get the types of shots you do?
Incredible images! That brings so much emotions... Thank you very much for doing this 😊
And I see a child staring at the waterfall, with his knees against his chest, meditating (like the Rodin's sculpture "Le Penseur"/"The thinker", I guess)
THATS NOT EVEN REAL!!! Just an amazing place, my dream location, maybe one day.
I'm heading to Iceland from the States for the first time in August and trying to decide which lenses to bring. Right now I am thinking my 15-35 2.8 and 100-400 plus my Mavic Pro 2. That would leave a gap between 35 and 100 in focal range but because I will be traveling and hiking I am thinking the less weight the better. It seems most of the photography stuff I have watched in Iceland on UA-cam tends to be either on the wider end or more telephoto end of things. Do you think not bringing a lens in the 24-70/105 range would be a mistake?
Man, stop tempting me with a super telephoto 🤣
Hahaha, get an off-brand if you do, so much cheaper and the results honestly look great still!
@@MichaelShainblum I noticed you were shooting the sigma. Unfortunately I shoot canon. Although they have a really (relatively) cheap native 100-400 with great reviews. Sony is becoming more attractive though, purely for their choice of third party lenses!
Anyway, thanks for such inspiring content. I'm deep into the UA-cam photography community and you are at the top for me. Even if you make me want a 100-400 and a drone haha. Keep doing what you're doing, as long as you're enjoying it as much as we do
I stumbled upon these rainbow shots on Instagram a few days ago and was instantly blown away, and through the magical powers of the internet, UA-cam just suggested this video. Is this a 'big brother is watching' situation? Perhaps... but I don't care; I am glad I found your stuff. Phenomenal work.
Wowh, great photo's! The one (at 12:30) you asked what we viewers think it represents:
I see beautiful chaos, crashing waves, space nebulas. Specially love the light an texture in the "wave" at the left bottom, in great balance with the "black hole nebula at the left top part!!👍👍
Just stunning, what a fantastic subject to shoot 👏👏
I admire beautiful scenery of Iceland.👏👏👏
Look at the scenery of Japan by all means🇯🇵
Michael,
The rainbow patterns on the falling water were magical, and are yet another example of the variety of great images you create with the 100-400 mm lens. Your work never ceases to amaze and inspire. With every video I think it must be impossible to top, and then you top it with the next video! The consistently high quality of your stills, your video, time lapses, and drone images is just unparalleled. Amazing, amazing work!
Hi Michael, this is such a great video!!! This images from the waterfall are out of another world🤩 Really enjoy the colors!
I have never been to iceland…but im planning to go there some day😅.
When is the best time for a journey to iceland?
Probably not quite “as much as you,” but I did enjoy it. Always inspiring. Thanks!
Amazing. You should be happy with all of them. I love them all. Thank you!!!
Decent vid. Glad you asked because when you showed the first zoomed in storm waterfalls photo, I was thinking if someone walked into a gallery without knowing what it was??? Happy shooting. Looks like it was a great trip.
very beautiful Micheal! I really do like the waterfall pictures. The dark reminds me of pictures of angels or something.
Simply fantastic man. Stellar images and superb photography.
I was mesmerized by this. Stunning video and pics! I'll take stormy conditions anytime!
12:26 Yes! That's pretty much what I saw at first viewing. To the left, there seems to be some dark figure of a woman in a wispy white dress & then to the right is the mythical monster/beast, just its head & I guess hand reaching out towards the figure.
Unless there's a rainbow created by the waterfall spray (as shown earlier), I rarely do telephoto shots on a waterfall...this vlog has convinced me that I need to start! 🤯🤙🏾
Some amazing images, particularly the close ups of the waterfalls. Great work.
Solid video Michael, loved all the images and you're 100% right, I did prefer the dramatic zoomed in shots of the waterfalls.
Wow .. Amazing Images. My fav is the 12:01 and I definitely see what looks like a side view of a human face looking down (top left shadow area). Would you mind sharing the name of the Canyon ? love to visit this amazing place in my next years visit.
Michael I love how you use your 100-400 lens to capture some very compelling and unique landscapes. I recently added this focal length to my bag and I am working to see things differently as you do so well with your intimate shots. Your have really captured some epic images in Iceland.
Great waterfall & rainbow shots.. Not a common subject & composition, and holy cannoli did you make it work.
Wonderful photography it's simply amazing.ur showing ur heart fealt in these pictures.thanks for those photos and these video and important tips .
Absolutely stellar shots Michael !!!! so much so, all I can see is not water but Hubble Telescope type images of galaxies and space dust - absolutely breathtaking images.
What a freaking stellar video Mike! Those falls 💯💯👏🏻👏🏻
We have a saying here. Good things can come from bad, and bad things can come from good. It's like the great work you did under difficult conditions here.
First, get a mortgage and buy the R3 and a few pro lenses, that should wipe out a mere £20k then begin to take breathtaking pictures. I have an old 7D with a set of meagre lenses and know it's limitations when it comes to landscapes, as a mere point n shoot for parties/weddings it is decent enough, but for anything else I would not trust it.
Stunning images as always! All the telephotos were with the sigma? How much cropping if any? Might get one for my a74
Stunning images, love the close up waterfall pictures. I can see seahorses in your waterfall image. Thank you for sharing.
The shot at 11:50 and the following.. duuuude!!! those are absolutely incredible!!
Great video and amazing images! Iceland is really a photographer's playground. I agree that the zoomed in images of the falling water patterns are much more compelling. The patterns and detail are eye candy. The added colors of the rainbow are great but, even the monochromatic shots work well.
Thanks so much Thomas, so much fun out there!
Absolutely stunning work mate. The images look absolutely stunning on Vero. 👌
beautiful!
Really loved the more focused images especially with your ‘mythical sea monster’ shot. Just do atmospheric
Yeah, I agree. The moody dramatism of the waterfall zoomed in to create those shapes evoking a netherworld of unknown origin seemed much more compelling.
I found the close up images quite eery, but fascinating at the same time. Looking at the image at 11:58 I thought I saw an eye with a tear drop in the top left quadrant. You proved that no matter the conditions, creativity trumps all. Nice work.
Absolutely stunning images of detail in these waterfalls! Thank you.
I wish i have your energy and stamina to climb up to heights in search of images. I went to Iceland earlier this year on a cruise and later joined a three day adventure land tour around golden circle. Obviously i was under time constraints and unfavorable location when i only taken to tourist sites. I did well under the circumstances. Btw i have soaring eagles in my images as i put them in post and no one noticed. 😂 i even had a beautiful steeple church sitting on a peak with beautiful green aurora in the background even though i shot this in June standing next to a shopping mall parking lot😂keep shooting my friend!
of course in the waterfall i see the pillars of creation - its not the same but its similar and to be honest probably for similar physical reasons we don't fully understand yet, which makes it cool. thats also one of the coolest parts of the sky people like to picture anyway. it feels like its pushing outwards.. just like water does when it falls like this. I think most of the pics were great. The close ups are cool because they're less common. I also favor texture over composition a lot of the time, probably because its more rare. Still would be cool to get the canyon pic of the drone with a better camera and print it where you can see all the details and get lost in the image. Iceland is so beautiful.
I loved the close up b n w photos, moody, different, special....
Wow Michael, just wow. Note to myself, must go to Iceland!
wooow does rainbow shots are amazing!!!
The image at @ 12:25 conjured up the idea of a waking Titan: Right hand over his head as the water pours onto the gap between left shoulder and head. Good stuff, more please.
I did Iceland several years ago with a group but I'd like to return some day and get around just myself 📷👍
Is that the Sigma 50 to 600mm lens?? how do you find it's autofocus on the Sony??
Amazing
nice shot Bro, alwase beautiful shot, good job 📸📸📸
Thanks so much!
@@MichaelShainblum you're welcome Bro, one of the creators of landscape photography that I am so loyal to enjoy your content 👍👍👍
Presented with those vistas is always tempting to go for the obvious shot. But you didn't and it payed of.
And you made another great video while doing it.
I agree, Michael - the stormy close-ups are far more impactful than the pretty sunset image. Your favourite is mine, too. It reminds me of a gas cloud or nebula in space. Amazing place, captured beautifully. 🦘😄🇦🇺
Wonderful video! My wife saw a silhouette of a child in the upper left and I saw a half-closed eye of a creature in the mid-left. Lots of fun to stop the video and take a close look at the images.
MaShaAllah Micheal Bhai kya shot liye ho Allah apko or dy
dhanyavaad :)
Those are some amazing detail shots of the waterfall, never would have had the idea to shoot waterfall closeups, thanks for sharing :)
Wow, those shots of the waterfall and rainbow look like something from the James Webb telescope!
These photos of the waterfall and rainbow are probably some of your best yet that I’ve seen. Absolutely surreal and unreal. Hope to see you out some time in the Bay Area.
in the waterfall view you ask what we might see, I see a side face view of a girl with a resting long Ponytail with kind of a Mermaid body
absolutely stunning photos. The bird with rainbow photos are my favorites of your photos this year so far.
another great video and amazing photograhy enjoyed this cant wait for more tnx so much for sharing
Great location and photographs!
Blown away Micheal! I think is is the best video and some of the best shots I have seen
Fantastic images again and the image you asked what we see ,I see small child silhouette looking into the fall ,and no I'm not on drugs 🤣
Great video Michael - you are great at presenting!
Thanks Alex, I appreciate you checking it out :)
Superb as usual! Loved the waterfall with the bird!
Michael, that photo you wanted to know what else we see in your favorite photo on this video. I see a baby up in the left hand corner.
On the upper right corner there is a shadow that looks like a lady looking at the water.
Excellent photos. What else do I see in the one waterfall photo? A boys head looking at the Falls.
Wow, the rainbow waterfall is just... wow.
Geez, such awesome shots of that first waterfall! And those stormy telephoto shots are definitely a lot more unique and interesting. Great work once again! 👏
Iceland is living proof that God plays Minecraft ᨒ
Well, he'd be the only one to put fire and ice together. lol
Watching a second time! Great unique images 👍🏽
Just gorgeous. Now I just can't wait to go back - yet again - next year !
My word some of the nicest photos ever the rainbow water wow
Thanks so much Paul!
Amazing pictures and video.
Love your content! Which is the long lens you are using?
I see faces in those images like you do, stunning work💖
I see the silhouette of the side of a child's face in tge top left corner looking down into the water fall
I want to live in iceland, it's so beautiful there!
majestically beautiful, wow, just wow
those rainbow shots look like nebulas. bravo man!
just incredible!!! very good video.
