Dark souls II has been out more than long enough not to include nerfed weapons in this list. The poor Avelyn has been nerfed to death as well as Santiers.
Falsifying Genesis santier's is still totally viable, it's just not broken any more. I've used it for several playthroughs as well as pvp and it's still very good.
Kaz J I never said it was bad, just that they NERFED the hell out of it. Santiers was never broken, ppl just got hit in the face by it. There is always a counter to the "OP" weapons/builds. My point though was that he was including weapons and then making notes saying that it applies only before a certain patch, which I find pointless
Doing my first playthrough, went with a pure melee build and landed on the Greatsword, fell in love and never looked back. Fast enough and great damage.
You actually can in DS2, just infuse with mundane and have a very high SL and when it breaks, only the raw damage vanishes but the scaling of what, 300 AR (?), still is there
It brought some nice techniques into the game and made playing a lot more fun. But well, Miyazaki decided: "Fuck it, who needs complex game mechanics, if we have poise, that only works since the dlc?"
Pablo Hierro remember these are his choice, so I say try all the weapon & pick your favorites. maybe you dont like some of ray's weapon being the "best".
My favorites are the Red Iron Twinblade and the Fume Ultra Greatsword. The RIT has better DPS when it comes to boss fights at least, but the FUGS is more fun to use, I love pancaking smaller enemies with the special attack.
a lot of dark souls youtuber start post DS2 video now, i'm so happy! i think those equipment are most interesting and fun to collect.there are too much useful build
you should do a new top 10 for most viable post patches. like for current state what the best overall are. i'm sure most will be the same but would still be cool.
I think you should keep in mind how practical the weapons are for a primary weapon, and for builds that cant have good melee stats and caster stats. most of these weapons require multiple damage increase buffs, a weapon buff, and the "low hp=more dmg" ring. If we forget about really high level builds, I'd say that alonne's katana is one of the best weapons: +deals ok damage +long range +the self buff is only limited to your lifegems available, and requires no spells to use +the damage is actually really nice when buffed up +not too high stat requirements to use effectively -not insanely fast -breaks easily, have a backup or some way to repair it. Or just use the best version of the durability ring to not worry about it -lacks potential for a really high level build that has to use high damage weapon buffs to deal enough damage

Just for next time can you leave build details at the end of the video or in the description? Not everyone has 99 Dex 99 Strength to make these weapons this powerful
The Mighty N8 Its not just the 99 Str and 99 Dex. Its the fact that he has all those fucking buffs on. I honestly bet that if he didn't have those buffs he'd be doing half if not even less than half the damage.
The Mighty N8 Eh. Depends on what you're trying to do. If you're going for what Ray does, then just get the CSS ring +2, the tseldora set souls shield (I might just be thinking of DS3) and farm the shit out of the giant lord in that one memory. Ray has made a few videos on soul farming for this game, I would recommend watching them. If your just planning on normal PvE, I would recommend just a normal infused rapier at +10 and buff it with crystal magic weapon or something along those lines and slap on the Old Leo Ring. Its really good.
+The-_-Loki I've done that method, but after a bit it gets kind of exhausting, especially since I discovered it on a LVL 250 Mage. About 81 INT 50 VIG and that only leaves about 100 which is nowhere near max Strength/Dex (198)
Maybe someone is here and could answer a few questions. So far I had one playthrough of DS2 which took me about 100 hours (DLCS included), but for some reason never really played it again, despite being a great fan of the series and putting countless of hours into 1 and, since it is released, 3. Now I'm getting mixed information on Dark Souls 2 on how to make your build or choose your weapon and right infusion. In this video I realized, that none of the weapons seemes to be infused, execpt the Santier's Spear with Mundane (correct me if I'm wrong). I'm currently playing Heide Knight Sword with Lightning infusion on an STR/DEX/FAI build. I know it's not good to have 3 stats, but first I planned to play the sword uninfused, until I read that the Dex-Scaling in this game seems to be a little bit off, so it's better to have an infusion. Also I read, I can only use Sunlight Blade, if the sword is lightning infused (didn't check that). I didn't make it to the point I can get Sunlight Blade yet, but I want to at least try it. Now my question is, in what case is it good to infuse your weapon and when would I prefer the uninfused version? And are resins generally better than weapon buff spells (like Sunlight blade)? I just have the feeling, there's something about this game I fundamentally misunderstand, at least I can't figure out, why the Dagger is doing this much damage in this video.
Resins do more damage than buffs IF your weapon isnt infused. Buffs do more weapons if your weapons are infused due to a direct add on of damage along with adding 20% of that weapon's hex/fire/sorc/lightning damage to itself. For example, I have a magic infused sword that has 100 magic ar and use crystal magic weapon my AR would be 170 due to the normal +50 and 20% of the ar being added to itself.
Just started DSII again on PS5! I got platinum for demon souls remake, DSIII, bloodborne, and now DSII and then DS1 remake and i completed the franchise
It's great to see that there are more people creating or that have created from my same content here on UA-cam it is also very good game content with dark souls 2
Doesn't the Ice Rapier have more DPS than Espada Ropera if you have max stats? Infused with feint stone gets an S scalling, and you can buff it with crystal magic weapon.
+Volber This isn't a very viable list TBH. Just Ray's opinion. I can do 600+ Damage in a small combo with the Estoc- Fast overall, Swipe Strong attack that's shield piercing, doesn't leave you very open, but the counter damage is eh (Even though it reads 150, trust me, it's not 😂) I guess you can make any weapon good, but I use it magic infused with a flame weapon buff with a pyromancy flame +10 with 81 INT and like 7 Faith (Sorcerer Build)
I’m wrapping up my first play through of any Souls game and I carried a a stare sword around for a while until I got the Craftmans Hammer. Been rocking it ever since. Probably change it up next time through.

Very interesting video, sadly i saw it after finishing DS2 SotFS 4 times... I am still very interested in Dark Souls's Theorycraft and what the highest dps weapon can be, but it's hard to find, i hope you will be doing more great videos like this one. I played mainly with the Curved Dragon Greatsword, the backstabs damages are insane, but you can add the very small durability of this weapon as a con, if you use R2, it breaks really fast. But i still love the weapon for it's movesets and it's looks
Hello Ray, I love your channel, I always watch your videos. I really wanted you to do a video explaining how to get overpower from the beginning in Dark Souls 3. For me, you are the best player. I really love your videos.
The Avelyn is an amazing weapon even in NG. It can be a real Boss killer. Another great choice is a maxed Red Iron Twinblade, as the rapid damage is stupendous. The only real change I'd make is substitute the Dagger for the Rapier. With high Endurance and the Old Leo Ring, it is a Boss killer.
Heidi Lance is best weapon in my opinion. It gives you a fucking weapon magnet, can be used behind shields, staggers enemies, and can be used in quick succession. Also looks badass and can knock mofos off cliffs.
To get the 100% crit hit as ray did in the greatsword part..u need to perform a glitch..So u need the engraved gauntlets equipped…when u get a crit hit with them quickly unequip and gauntlet as soon as possible. This makes every hit u perform a crit.Make sure that u do not re equip any gauntlet after doing this
Question, what is the best weapon/build when you are max level? When I last played ds2 I just had the dreakblood greatsword buffed with sunlight blade and sacred oath but I don't know if that was the most optimal dps buil.
If u want crazy dps go with ice rapier +5 lightening infusion + flynns ring + ring of blades +2 + leo ring + dark clutch ring and use it with dark weapon, sacred oath and or sunlight blade with a brightbug
Espada Ropera on its own? Nah. Power stanced with Ricards Rapier in right hand? Yes. There's a glitch where if you power stance with Ricards in your right hand then your L2/LT attacks have massively reduced stamina cost.
Well okay, it's the vanilla game with the at that point not yet nerfed weapons, not really the most valid list these days... Not really hard to guess what the #1 was.
What version are you playing? Because I play SOTFS on PS4 (doing a new run with a few friends) and I was wondering how I could improve my build. I already have +5 chaos blade and duel weild +10 uchigatana. Both imbued with lightning with 40 faith and 40 dex
What I want to know is how are you able to swing both great swords at once? I tried doing that on Xbox and it doesn't seem to want to let me. It only lets me swing them one at a time
Excellent video. Good showcase of weapons with a variety of Bosses. I'm glad the Avelyn was not overlooked, although I'd put the Longsword in the list ahead of the Dagger. Each to their own. 👍
They might not be the best weapons in the game, but for me, I personally enjoy weapons that go BONK. I’m currently using Demon’s Great Hammer +5 which I buff with sacred oath and flame weapon. Most enemies just get absolutely flattened 😁
I went through 3/5 of the game with a dark greatsword +10 and it was very doable. I switched to the red iron twinblade and smacked it with a lightning imbue (+10), it's for sure my favorite weapon
Sup I know I might be a little bit late but I couldn't find any posts considering your One Shot Boss challenge. I was curious if you can still one shot Giant Lord with 99fth/99int build? Could someone help me out? I am currently doing a run in which I plan on maxing out character before going to NG+ and for obvious reasons I'd like to stick with Giant Lord. Reason why I am asking you guys for help? I never used any spells in any soul games. Sure they can be fancy but I'd rather have some steel in my hand than some hocus-pocus. Well guess what, time to explore spell usage! My character is currently level 289, and I was curious if you guys could help me out make a build for one shootin' Giant Lord? I had a character level 450 but it was on a ps3 which didn't have any backup savefiles so lol... Doing it on PC now hoping for better results. Btw currently using Dual Blacksteel Katanas (got 99str99dex) and it takes me a while to kill Giant Lord. That's why I wanna switch to spells.
Caique Silva He shouldn't do that yet. He should wait for a month or so until after the second DLC is out (to account for patches and shit) to do something like that.

5 years later and I still have no idea what does the mundane do
me either but I still infused the ladle with it.
Why did you choose a a weapon for the number 1 slot that is only viable before patch 1.05?
What version are you playing? Because I play SOTFS on PS4 (doing a new run with a few friends) and I was wondering how I could improve my build. I already have +5 chaos blade and duel weild +10 uchigatana. Both imbued with lightning with 40 faith and 40 dex
How to improve it? I recommend Avelyn(s) with lightning bolts and lightning Mastodon halberd, for opponents intelligent enough to outspace the katanas
When you watch these videos, you always question your gaming skills.
Is the dagger still viable and what’s the new best infusion for it?
Ray, could u please make a short explanation about the dagger? infusions, and stats, how can it do so much damage?
He has 99 in all stats
SkilFire 99 doesn't make much of a difference he uses crap tons of damage buffs that's why his health is so low it's his penalty
Yeah, Mateus asked for the stats and I answered, the guy whose comment is above my first one explained all the rest
ImYourSenpai no its for red tearstone ring
why does his dagger do so much damage? How do you improve like this?
Bruh my man really do be using those crossbows like rambo
I think he equiped the ring which makes you hit stronger when your HP are low...
The Murakamo would like a word with you round back.
What I want to know is how are you able to swing both great swords at once? I tried doing that on Xbox and it doesn't seem to want to let me. It only lets me swing them one at a time
You can make a vídeo of best weapons of all category (Katana,Axe,Scythe,etc...)
Are these rankings still accurate I’d SOTFS?
I use Drakeblood Greatsword in my left hand and Mail Breaker in my right hand just because they look good on my Engraved King Armor
ok sure you may have those fancy weapons but do you use the ladle I thought so casul
*epic music for the final boss starts* pew pew pew
what did you use to get those five million souls? make a video about
3:37 ornstein is back
So, years later, the Espada would reign supreme?
is it better then the ice rapier?
the dagger?are you fucking kidding,how
did i not realize this
Excellent video.
Священный обет перебивает почти любое усиление, и наоборот священный обет сбрасывается смолой и зачарованиями, разве нет? На вики написанно
I went through 3/5 of the game with a dark greatsword +10 and it was very doable. I switched to the red iron twinblade and smacked it with a lightning imbue (+10), it's for sure my favorite weapon
Geez you melted that poor frog with a dagger!!
That spear should be called "Rapist's Spear".
what causes these weapons to have the sound of critical hit from engraved gauntlets?
Great vid! Now DS3 top 10 weapons please!
Caique Silva He shouldn't do that yet. He should wait for a month or so until after the second DLC is out (to account for patches and shit) to do something like that.
