Ah yes good pick up! I stand corrected
The Xpeng G6 Standard (RWD) RHD would have to be priced at AU$49,990 driveaway for it to do well in Australia. AU$52,990 driveaway would be pushing it, and AU$54,990 driveaway would mean AU residents will go for a different choice/brand as they only then have to add a few more thousand to that $54,990. in NSW Model Y RWD costs AU$60,842 driveaway [and] the Model 3 RWD is AU$59,792 NSW driveaway
Yup this segment of the market is very price sensitive
Yes but remember not everyone wants an Elon-mobile or likes the look or minimalism of Tesla therefore they won't just jump over to a Y, many other choices in this segment beyond Tesla luckily. May not always be price either that makes people choose the car they want. Will be interesting when the Skoda Enyaq lands heard many good things about it.
@@TassieEV @LudicrousFeed ~ Skoda Enyaq SUV RHD AU arrives at Skoda dealerships September 2024, only the Coupe shape will be released and they decided not to release the stationwagon version. 3 more Skoda bEV's will be released in 2025 in AU
@@LudicrousFeed bEV Skywell EVA5 RHD AU (suv) a little bit bigger than Honda CR-V, will be released very soon and has been confirmed to be AU$49,990 driveaway (as they want to be more than $10,000 cheaper than a Tesla Model Y). Xpeng G6 and Zeekr X have some competition
Pre-order with pricing TBC. Are these jokers for real?
Yes I agree it’s a strange decision given there are other brands also coming soon eg ZEEKR
@@LudicrousFeed @emmett3067 - i have a stange-hunch that TrueEV/XpengAU are going to mess up the establishment of Xpeng RHD's in Australia, not sure if they will then recover quickly & come back even better & stronger, or if it will make Aussies keep away from Xpeng RHD's
They are probably trying to gauge interest before setting price
@@TheYoyoma3 💯 The more interest, the higher the price.
what i heard is that the 1K$ is redfundable
I can't see any reason why people would pre-order without a price. There isn't anything compelling in this vehicle to encourage people to commit to a new brand of car that probably wont arrive till next year.
At least wait until September for the price
@@LudicrousFeed @25Alpha - Xpeng AU deliveries in Australia start in October 2024. They already have a warehouse with brand-new RHD stock in an area near Castle Hill NSW 2154 area [the information is publically available]
It's fully refundable. If you like the price, you'd be first in line, if you don't, you'll get back your money.
That is great. Against the Model y standard the difference in range is about 20km and the xpeng charges way faster because its 800v. I rather NOT have an extra 20km range while charging 50% slower. Model y 10 to 80% takes around 30 minutes while the xpeng takes 20 minutes. Time is money
Would be keen to test that real world DC charging speed 🙏
Thanks Tom for videos. Great job always.
Impressive car indeed. But will wait for deliveries to start and hopefully catch a discount 😊
Good strategy 🙏
The ADAS of XPENG is pretty decent. You should check it out when it comes to Australia
Oh I will be 👍
Tesla currently has a gaping price hole in its Australian Model Y range, between the standard range and the long range. Xpeng would do well to plug it with the long range G6.
I think the RWD LR G6 will sit nicely between the Y RWD and LR
Thank you for sharing this mate. I think XP G6 is a much better deal than Tesla model Y at this stage. I think Tesla model may not bring FSD due to too many regulations.
I’m also curious to see if/when FSD will ever come to Aus
More choices for the EV buyer is a good thing plus adds to the competition in this segment.
Competition drives prices down
I am curious about the pricing in Thailand. Generally, Chinese cars are cheaper in Thailand than in Australia.
Yup that’d be a good guide
electrical viking is in the background during the walk around 😂
Yes the Viking travelled with us
Great quick review. I like the design but going to be hard to compete against Teslas charging network unless is priced similar to the Atto3. Having V2L is a plus over Tesla.
Pricing is so sensitive at this crowded segment of the market. Good for consumers
I wonder what the servicing schedule (if any) and associated costs are going to be? Also who is going to service/repair these? It's all good to have these awesome new Chinese EVs coming to Australia, but we also need to know about the after sales service and how this is going to work. Also what are the warranty details?
Agreed these are all important questions as we’ve found out with the BYD Experience
It's only in CHN but BMW sells a 320i looking sedan that is full bEV named 'BMW i3 eDrive 35L' that sells for about AU$31,000 recently used (CNY'R 150,000)! its not even available in Germany / UK / Dubai / USA
So many EV offerings in China currently
Really nice
Yeah they’re quite good looking irl
They have no Runs on the board and think i'll write them a blank cheque 😳
They'll have to work hard to earn our trust in Australia methinks
theyd want to be well priced as the boot is alot smaller than the model y.
I'd say it'd be very close
Seems like they are aiming for the eastern states market only. I live in Adelaide, no way am I going to place a $1000 deposit on something I cannot see, test drive or know the price. How long will Xpeng remain in Australia? I'm waiting for the BYD Sealion 7, at least I have a BYD experience centre not far from me!
September isn’t too far away, hopefully we’ll see competitive pricing
I keep seeing the guys from CarSauce in your videos 😂
Great to meet Matt this week 👍
i think for this to do well here it would have to be priced between dolphin long range and seal premium.
Yes agreed
@@LudicrousFeed hopefully they're targeting thr 32 to 58k rprice range.
even better if they are aiming for 38 to 48k.
So the real questions is, has anyone pre-ordered one of these yet?
Hands up those who have!
Any talk of a phone App?
Presumably? I’ll confirm once I get more details
When there are No fasting charging stations available.
Fast charge is basically useless until they are available everywhere. Therefore byd hybrid is the way for now.
Definitely need more reliable DC charging stations on our highways
@@LudicrousFeed they need to build some minimal '50' station fast-evse stops [all evse's must be undercover] on the main / popular route Sydney to Melbourne (and) Sydney to Adelaide [via inland] (and) Sydney to Brisbane - so people dont have to drive off the route just to charge and waste time & battery driving off-course. 50 charging stations every 175km / 200km / 225km should be sufficient (every 125km / 150km would be optimal though) and people have to only charge upto 80% then unplug and let someone else use the fast-charger
X gunna give it to ya!
Yeeah
Sam in the background
Yes he was with us
Nice car, though cheaper one range too short and longer range battery is ncm, so can’t be regularly charged to 100% and might catch fire.
The risk of fire in an EV is extremely low regardless of chemistry. The smaller range battery will be a good urban vehicle but if you can find a fast charger on your journey it won’t take long to top up along the way given it’s 800V
The Xpeng G6 blow away the model Y. I wish we had Xpeng cars available to us in the States. But we have 100% tariffs, to protect our overpaid union workers and bad car company managers.
It’ll certainly be a decent alternative to the Y
You would prefer to buy from underpaid Chinese workers? There is nothing wrong with a worker in the USA earning a decent wage. Better still, let the Chinese brands build factories in the USA to employ the locals and compete fairly with the American manufacturers (like the Europeans and the Japanese have done). They won’t even have to employ your hated union members…
@@eds4743 that’ll probably happen eventually with time
After watching the Zeekr videos I prefer Zeekr than XPeng.
It’ll be a close call but from what I saw in China, I was very impressed with the quality of the ZEEKR cars
@@LudicrousFeed at 60 to 70 large dont think they will sell many ZEEKR's
@@CavlrsStephen I think the X will slide in under $60k
The bumb Chinese cars trying to challenge the model Y with a uncompetitive price. Good luck.....tesla will rule them all in terms of profitability but good for the consumers who want a choice 😂
I for one am happy to see more choice. I wouldn't want to live in a world where everyone is driving the exact same car tbh
No frunk, much less interior space than Model Y, heavier than Model Y, consumes more power.
Price will be all important
@@LudicrousFeed @sun-man - what are the Top 3 currently available in AU RHD bEV's that you like, and would consider purchasing for yourself & your family?
Complain about no frunk as if it's a deal breaker, NO ONE USES FRUNK ONLY ONCE A YEAR. Why would you care about being heavier or consuming more power than Model Y? when the difference in range is about 20km and the xpeng charges way faster because its 800v? People just complain for no reason that is insane. Would you rather have an extra 20km range while charging 50% slower? go see the tests, model y 10 to 80% takes around 30 minutes while the xpeng takes 20 minutes
@tonypaca3015 Less boot space, lots less. And by the time it gets to Australia we will have the model y refresh with lots of new features including increased range
@@_Sensei_8MY refresh or BYD Sea Lion 7
People buying this new brand of car expect zero future residual value.
A lot of new brands entering our market soon
@LudicrousFeed yes. If people wants good resale, stick with Tesla.
No doubt resale is relative to brand popularity
@@timthompson3212 Not when Tesla dropping the price like there is no tomorrow. How much did Model Y drop in price compared to this time last year?
Shame, just another boring SUV in a way over saturated segment. Give us good wagon and they'll have my interest.
