    Love your videos, but can’t nobody tell not to use hair grease. My hair was it’s healthiest, longest and most hydrated when I used hair grease (from a little girl).
    Once I started listening to the “grease is not good for your hair” folks, hair was not the same.

    • @IannaYvonne
      @IannaYvonne  Рік тому +19

      Thanks for watching hun!!! So happy you are enjoying the videos ❤️ But I do want to explain about the grease.
      Typically if you are not relaxed, grease is less harmful. It’s an amazing barrier/ sealant locking in moisture. Most likely your natural hair thrived with grease and it did not affect your scalp because you were a child and produces less oil naturally.
      ( I used to rub Vaseline on my face as a child as well in the winter. As an adult, I would be covered in acne and clogged pores because I produce much more oil now than when I was pubescent. The same is true for the skin of your scalp as we age)
      Regardless I always tell folks… if it’s working for you don’t change a thing. Everyone is different and so of course different products work for some and not others. Stay bless sis ❤️

    • @joshie19922
      @joshie19922 10 місяців тому +5

      Grease does not moisturize. Whatever moisture your hair has the grease simply sealed it in which made it feel moisturized

    Kept your hair in protective style for a year?😮 was it box braids ? Or cornrows? And it doesn't cause breakage If your hair is in a protective style for so long? And how do I know my hair is safe to be put in a protective style?

    • @IannaYvonne
      @IannaYvonne  5 днів тому +1

      Hello. I’ve gone 6 months at a time. Then remove and reapply. If you are suffering from hair thinning, I wouldn’t recommend. Protective styles can make thinning worse. No breakage during my take - down. (I have a video detailing my takedown technique on my channel if you’re interested ). I usually do jumbo/ large knotless braid because it’s less tension on the scalp. Thank you for watching. Hope that helped 💕

    • @itstawanza
      @itstawanza Рік тому +1

      Things that worked for me are 1. Always oiling my scalp with light oils (jojoba, grapeseed, rosemary, coffee extract) before I wash it. 2. Using a dandruff shampoo or scalp scrub 2-3 times a month, and 3. Using a gentle conditioner ON my scalp, because if you have eczema or dry skin, you would moisturize it, so why wouldn’t you moisturize dry scalp?

    • @IannaYvonne
      @IannaYvonne  Рік тому +2

      Hey! Thank you and thanks for watching ❤️ Alopecia is an umbrella term that has many different types and causes. Many causes involve inflammatory responses and are autoimmune in nature. Some forms are reversible- such as traction alopecia if dealt with early on. Scalp massage and rosemary oils are the best all natural remedies. A dermatologist may prescribe steroids topicals if the alopecia is due to inflammation. They will definitely recommend discontinuing the use of relaxers. Otherwise there is not many treatment option available. Some people opt for hair transplant with traction alopecia, but consulting with a dermatologist is my best recommendation if all natural remedies are not working. Hope that helps. 💕

    When you say wash your hair every 2 weeks do you mean shampooing it every 2 weeks? Or does wetting it in the shower without shampooing also count as washing? I am a muslimah and in Islam it is required to shower each time after sexual intercourse (shampoo isn't needed but hair needs to be washed with water) , so I wonder how this will affect my relaxed hair since I am newly starting my relaxed hair journey

Also you can apply to the palm of your hand and use you fingers to apply to the scalp. That way you can control the amount that you are applying. I do this when my hair is freshly styled with curls etc. this may help. Let me know how it goes. Happy to help if I can 💕
