This is so perfect for baseball games. Most ballparks don’t let you bring in lenses longer than 8-12 inches without a press pass. No one is gonna ask for the lens to be extended 😏
I am also a Vegas photographer. We are taking a trip to Europe and my gear will be limited. I was thinking of picking this lens up to take with me. I appreciate the information; this helps me make my decision.
With it being Nikon glass, it will always be a cut above the rest even if it isn't S-Line.
From a "business and marketing perspective", this completely makes sense to get the "affluent soccer mom" using a Nikon camera. While the parent may stop with the Z6III/28-400mm combo [soon?], this also introduces the kids to the Nikon system. When they go to the camera store to get the kid their own camera, they may start at the Nikon counter instead of the S/C counters.
As long as this lens is decently sharp, I would use it for landscape photography on long hikes. I’m still rocking the F mount with d850+16-35, 35-150, 100-400 and I leave the 35-150 when I hike and still so heavy. A Z7+14-30, 28-400 sounds really nice.

Are you shooting now on the Z8 or still using Sony primarily? Trying to decide between the A7RV and the Z8. Starting in weddings but also do landscape, and a tiny bit of sports with my sons team

Or do you prefer the 24 120 for wedding
24-120 for wedding and one or two 1.8 primes and you are good to go for starting out . I am doing 90% of my work with 24-120 for 6 years now
i have nikon 55-300 f/5.6 and trust me is not good enough.. f/2.8 is bare minimum for quality photography.. and samsung phones can just zoom like that..
The DX one for DSLR? Yah, there have been a lot of improvements with Z mount and glass. I think that 55-300 is from like 2010 and probably only resolves properly to 12 megapixels
It is an interesting lens, but f/4 at 200mm for me... I feel it should be better than that.
If you want that then the lens will be 4 times bigger and heavier. It's meant to be a walkaround travel lens. You can go get the 70-200mm f2.8 or the 400mm f2.8 at US$14,000
While it seems like the aperture hit should happen when going from 200mm to 400mm, with a wide-mid-tele superzoom, the biggest aperture change happen in the wide-mid-short tele range, and the long tele is almost free in comparison.
you need to do math on dx part of that lens. might be 2.3 on z8 or on nikon Z crop body.
Interesting. Why would it not be the standard 1.5 DX?
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto I guess the person made this statement is refering to / confusing normal 1.5 times crop in photo DX-mode and video-capabilities. Z8 has a 2.3x crop possibility in video-mode, 4K/120/100/60/50/30/25/24P (UHD, 144 Mbps) in full frame, or Super 35 crop (both sub-sampled), 2.3x crop full pixel readout mode available.
