Keanu Reeves mentioned this movie as it's his favorite one so Im here to see what I'm watching tonight
Me 2...
RIP director Norman Jewison!
Johnathan E, the Spartacus of 23rd Century.
I love this film and the Running Man.
One of my favorite science fiction films of that period. Very good film. That remake was garbage and an insult to the original.
Another tribute to the late James Caan.
I enjoyed both movies..
Watched the first movie. Very classic
Even worse, the remake was directed by John (Predator/Die Hard) McTiernan....
@@Ronno4691 The remake is terrible...The only good thing is the casting of Jean Reno and the beautiful Rebecca Romijn. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a rating of 3 percent and Rebecca Romijn was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award as Worst Supporting Actress...but I loved her, and had a crush on that incredible sultry eye candy, so that was the only good thing to look at in that monstrous remake.
I just saw a 50th anniversary screening at the Fox Theatre last night. It still holds up. We should have listened to the warnings about corporate society, but we didn’t.😊
I absolutely love this film, the actual plot is really subtle and the game itself is filmed really well! James Caan is great in this! One of those rare movies that you wish was either longer or had an Epilogue,
To tie up the ending like they did with the original Death Race 2000.
A movie ahead of it's time.
Wrong.
It was in its own time in 1975, which endures today in 2023.
The movie rollerball is ahead of its time
@@antonboludo8886 what are you prattling on about?
Jonathan! @@davestar4718
These are essentially gladiators, so the movie is not really ahead of its time. The game of Rollerball exists to distract the masses from more urgent issues, which is the same reason the gladiatorial games existed.
You can visit the arena of that movie, even the ceiling lining is still the same
Where is it?
@@davestar4718 In Munich, Germany. It’s called the BMW Park but it’s originally name after the 1972 Olympics was Rudi-Sedlmayer-Halle.
@@ohchick3n429 yeh i did some research afterwards. 😂
I was still expecting it to be a rollar rink 😖
@@davestar4718 Sorry to disappoint you, but I still think it’s cool that this arena after 51 years still exists. They even had plans to demolish it couple of years ago but the City Administration and FC Bayern payed a lot of money for the renovation. And like I said, not everything was renovated. The ceiling lining is still the same and some of the original seats are still built in. Even the small „monitor/surveillance box" that you can see in this trailer is remaining.
Just imagine if FIFA had decided that Lionel Messi was in danger of destroying football by being too good ... and adjusted the rules of the World Cup as Argentina progressed throughout each round ... no substitutions ... no fouls ... and then, in the final, no time limit
All in the hope of seeing him die on the field of play. Proving that the game of football allows for no individual to excel!
Of course, Lionel Messi would survive the carnage around him ... and limply caress the ball into the goal with his hand (no fouls remember!)
Argentina 1 - 0 France in complete silence ... then ..
"m" - "me" - "messi. messi .. " - "Messi. Messi." .. "Messi! Messi! Messi!". ..
"MESSI! MESSI! MESSI! MESSI MESSI!"
"MESSEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"
Bach's Toccata and Fugue starts up again, as we see ever closer stills of Lionel Messi's determined face .. the champion lives on ...
One of my all-time favorite movies.
Extraordinary film, fantastic soundtrack, incredible story and James Caan is simply Jonathan!
There is no one player greater than the game itself
Correct.
Except for Donald J. (for "just bring it") Trump. He IS the Jonathan E. of politics.
Watched it when I am small .love it
This trailer alone is the Sistine chapel compared to the 2002 remake
We played rollerball in my old neighborhood...bikes,chains, skates, a softball, gloves, football helmets
Amazing to see what they thought the future would be like.
Well, there are so many films from that period with interesting ideas about the future, and almost all are dystopias.
@@ozymandiasultor9480Some of this is actually not too far off.
Covid you mean?@@kiviuq3495
they actually trying to do this in western country, china is already own by corporations
"They're afraid of you. All the way to the top they are. Ciou"
Jonathan! Jonathan! Jonathan!
It wasn't brilliant, but still ten times better than remake. And John Houseman was good as the main baddy.
The original is way better 💯 the remake was trying to make it look like Fast and Furious 2001
@@stefantomasi4036no surprise considering that fast and furious was very popular at that time
@@elimDBZ yep they came out 8 months apart. However, the best remake from John McTiernan is The Thomas Crown Affair. That one came out the summer of 1999
Great cinematography
Yo this looks nuts, gonna watch
It's the best team sports movie ever made - I'm not joking.
Up there with Schindler's List, Lawrence Of Arabia and Breakdance 2, Electric Boogaloo.
You mean "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo". It won an Oscar that year for "Best Sequel".
great film
I love the Remake to be honest. It was far from a perfect movie but it was enjoyable none the less. I never saw the 1975 film but from the look of this trailer and the knowlede I have about the Remake. They're no where near the same film. I would say Rollerball 2002 is not a remake but more of a spinoff. That would make sense. A remake though? I dont think so.
Go go Johnathan E!
I love like it rollerball
best stunt men on earth worked in this movie
They never get enough credit.
@@jonisafreak3 yes, but Brad Pitt did get an oscar, playing a stunt man. // just saying // God Bless //plan ahead and live thru the stunt
That cylindrical building is BMW headquarters in Munich.
There's something so Abnormal about this film premise - Yet the "Purge" says you haven't seen anything yet.
Very well
I’m here because of Damar Hamlin’s death threatening injury.
😊😊great movie
Just like hunger games
Yes, similar ideas...
I don't hate the 2002 remake it was cool and flashy, but if they would have stuck to the original material, with the edgeyness it had, shoot would have been so dope!
Me and my mates walked out from this film !
Different Story Competition Race Movie. But This Movie Doesn't Look Like Science Fiction Movie 🤔🤔🤔
If you like this 2000 ad comic will like you
Pellicola accettabile, voto 7,5.
Daisy Jones and the Six brought me here.
Same XD
I didn't get this film at all.
It is time to amazon prime a series 10 yrs prior to the movie J E's first yr as a rollerballer ten seasons leading up to the movie
ruby rose as one of the bikers co ed with female bikers men on blades / rollering
Good idea. And I sure would like to see Ruby Rose as a modern female gladiator.
I am planning on making a real life version of the Rollerball Sport. All I need is money, know-how, equipment, uniforms, an arena, major demand for the sport, liability waivers, and lots of money to make this a reality. That's why I plan on really researching for this before starting a Go Fund Me
Roller derby has come and is long gone. Sorry.
Roller derby certainly isn't long gone
