The city created the problem with the residents by not building a separate entrance and parking lot, which they could have done and charge fees for maintenance, upkeep and security. Much less than tearing it down.
Haiku Stairs friends it’s a religious high place where we go to Heaven it should have religious access protections like Marina Kea and Haleakala. More people go up the stairs then probably Mauna Kea. Friend spread his grandfather’s ashes up there per his wishes. Access is a freedom of religion issue
“Stairway to heaven” is just a nickname, it doesn’t have any religious significance to Hawaiians, and as per the Hawai’i state constitution only WE are granted the right to declare sacred spaces in Hawai’i. Stop trying to exploit Hawaiians for your benefit, that’s disgusting.
Wrong. Pu‘u Keahiakahoe does not hold any religious ideals that it is "heaven". It represented the story of Kahua-uli, Kahoe, and Pahu, with it representing SHARING and consequences of being selfish (ironic). Also ironically, you mention Mauna Kea, even though it is the most significant Pu'u in Hawaii. With it being seen as the Piko, connecting Humans with a gateway to the gods. Where divine and Earth meets. Your information is absolutely twisted. Also ironically your friend's grandfather was going against the message Pu'u Keahiakahoe itself....lol
This is so awesome. The city is going to waste 2.5 million dragging this out til September! And they still have to pay to “secure” the mountain and pay for rescues. What a deal. Only in Hawaii can the government fuk something up so royally! Congratulations on another job well done!
Just like the Rail - all these delays and injunctions will cost tax payers more and more !!!
Where's the "friends of unconstitutional speed cameras" then?!
prayers continue. Amen
Awesome!
Miss that place . I went there in 1984..
If calls for rescuing trespassers from a known no-trespass area needlessly endangers personnel/aircraft, that raises the question.

Tethered like a raft, natural fiber rope, holds me to the razors edge, drifting
Awesome the city wastes money
