      While this is true, it’s also true that you need to foul off those pitches at times. Make contact and do not get backwards K’d.

      @@devilpuppetsincmaybe occasionally. But Seiya is right WAY more than hes wrong so i disagree. Like Schwarber, Seiya has an excellent idea of the zone & when you KNOW its a ball you are taught not to swing. That's from T-ball on up

    • @mr.bohner6819
      @mr.bohner6819 Місяць тому

      @@LockedOnCubsnot only the challenges to keep the umpires off his back, but a star to take some pressure/load off Seiya. If we can get those 3 things (Health, fair umpires, lineup help) then Seiya IS going to have his best year yet or at the very least a similar season to '23 & '24 which is a top 15 hitter in the league

    • @devilpuppetsinc
      @devilpuppetsinc Місяць тому +1

      @@mr.bohner6819 when you know it’s a ball but it’s close to the zone and you have two strikes on you and there are runners on base you are taught it’s not okay to take strike three looking as well. I like Seiya a lot, one of my favorite current Cubs, but he could be an even more productive hitter. If you get called out on strike three more than any other hitter than you have to find a way to deal with it.

    Perhaps Suzuki’s full offensive potential may not have come to fruition and I think it’s attributed to the guys in the line up around him. They rarely put Suzuki in a position to truly reach his full offensive potential. He is easily the the best hitter on this current roster. Now defensively, there’s certainly more to be desired, but overall I think he’s an been invaluable asset to this current team.

    I have been around all levels of baseball for a long time. I like Suzuki. He will be an even better hitter next year. I don't know him, so I cannot "guarantee" it, but every year Suzuki has gotten better and more comfortable. Let's hope he's still a Cub next year.

    Like I said, he somehow takes 1st strike ball looking at it! Now that puts him in the hole. Then the Ump calls ball a strike, now the pitcher has advantage x 3000 at bat = season

    Cubs came into the season with what appeared to be a solid returning core in the BP, but injuries took their toll. And not just the BP, but the starting rotation as well. That was the main reason they had such a terrible May and June that put them in the hole for the rest of the season. Besides talent, it takes a certain amount of luck and things going your way to get into the playoffs.

    He instantly becomes the player with the highest BB% in the entire league! I would even bet money that it would give him the highest OBP instantly. Now, that should, SHOULD correlate to a very high OPS, and give him more balls to drive. BUT!! That’s an evolution that needs to begin next season. Because the better, more accurate strike
    Zone leads to more walks, and ultimately better pitches to swing at and drive. That’s not INSTANT! Because there has to be an element of aggression in that.
    OH!! And have Jake Arrieta introduce him to Pilates!! He’s strong. Make him a little bit more flexible!

    • @brianpowers2315
      @brianpowers2315 Місяць тому

      Also! When the team isn’t driving in the lead off double?!??!? Bunt, bunt, 1-run.
      And if Seiya bats behind PCA? He does get more 1st pitch and/or 2nd pitch heaters for the catcher.
      I do want PCA to lead off. BUT!! Happer just hits better in that spot. I bet he was a MVP candidate if you use his numbers batting leadoff over a 162 games. Just a hunch.

    This team hasn’t been clutch. I’m not sure how they can make themselves better in that regard but it applies to the relievers as well as the hitters. Blown saves and unproductive at bats with RISP are the Cubs’ formula for failure. That needs to change.

  • @69mojoez

    Things don’t always line up the way you plan them, in 2016 Chapman was available to be had mid season. Last year there was no one like that to be had mid season. Cubs might be waiting forever with that approach. Houston has 87wins and a playoff spot, Cubs have 82 wins, if the Cubs would have signed Hader, they would have 90 wins maybe winning division. Last legit great closer Cubs developed was Lee Smith. Maybe Hodge is the guy moving forward, that would be great. We shall see.

    I pray they find a way to help Kyle transition into some sort of long reliever, 6th starter, mentor, whatever. Hell, I really wish the Cubs organization had the ability to help players progress rather than constantly struggle only to be reinvented elsewhere. He's about to be 35. He has a few more years in him to help anchor this pitching staff. If anyone needs a refresher of how great he was, go re-watch the 2016 NLCS game 6. Get past the first two at-bats, and you'll masterful pitching when it matters the most. The man deserves to retire a Cub, in a few years, with a second World Series ring.

    I've been reading Cubs fans' opinions about Suzuki.
    i think some Cubs fans don't recognize him as much as he has accomplished.
    It is true that he has the right to refuse to trade.
    but if the conditions are right, there is a good chance that he can request a trade himself.
    His WRC 138 hitting will be more recognized by other teams. With a runner on first base, his ops this year is 982. He has a better away performance this year.
    So his value may be higher than cubs fans think.
    You wouldn't have any losses if you trade him. what do you think of that?

    Maybe the problem with the bullpen is the pitching coach. How do these guys go to other teams and succeed? Just imagine if they had not given away more than twenty games. Even just saving half of those would have them in a battle for the division. I’m tired of hearing how great Tommy is. If he was that good, we would have made the playoffs last year and this year. Any thoughts on Hendricks taking it over.

      I said this on Twitter. Seiya can be better, im sure of it. & Parades naturally fits the mold of a good clutch hitter like Tauchman does. But Bellinger & PCA (half the year) & Happ have been our guys this year. Only Bellinger has been consistently good at this the past 2 seasons & its why we cant let him go. Basic human nature really. hoyer must resign. he said Ross just wasn't good enough and fired him to bring in someone who doesn't care about our boys one bit. Rossy loved our team and all of us, he was our natural leader and without him there was no way the team would improve. Wasted what might have been a Cy Young season too. Shameful.
