They will need to start performing better to convince the front office to make trades. I agree that last year they didn’t make big moves. Jed should be on the hot seat if this isn’t a playoff team
No Alonso. Bregman perhaps. I’d rather have Vlad Jr. or Issac Paredes.
I like Vlad but worried about his slugging being down. Bregman would be a great positional fit and then can move Morel to DH . Paredes would be solid too
I like Paredes. Hopefully the Rays get into sell mode and make him available. He could be a sneaky get.
Jed wont do squat
He did make a couple moves last year. They have a few less easy-to-trade players this year so selling might be more tough. Unless it’s Leiter/Neris

Then they protected Cuas over Estrada in the offseason…..
@@timad11 betting on Cuas was a tough one. They needed a 3B last year , but DFA’ing Estrada made no sense when he had options and looked insanely good in the minors last year

Alonso is one of the most overrated players in MLB. He's one dimensional. If Wisdom had consistent at bats, he'd be a poor man's Alonso. No thanks.
Mason Miller will sell for a ton and the receiving team will regret that decision for a decade. He's a serious injury waiting to happen.
We need proven talent at multiple positions. Maybe next year. Let's sell this time.
Thanks for commenting! Alonso has a high slug, decent walk rate and low strike out rate. They did already invest in Busch. So that would be tough to make a trade and then back track so quickly
Love Pete Alonso, kind of 1-dimensional like you said. Lots of slug and his average is up slightly from last year. It would give the Cubs a legit slugger and a feared hitter in the lineup. Probably would provide the most slug we have had since KB or Schwarbs.
I say trade hoyer to anyone who will give you a retired player and $2
Man, I wish we could trade Hoyer. I would have done that 2-3 years ago.. :(
