Joe, you make a good point abt how lucky Grizz fans are to have had both the Grit & Grind edition and now this edition led by Ja, JJJ & Des...leaders who take responsibility after losses and value Ws over padding their own stats. This is a homegrown team that plays for each other and the Memphis community. Grizz fans are blessed
the grizz schedule has been beyond easy. only 8 or 9 games have been against good/playoff contending teams. the next month gonna show what the grizz really about
The talk before the draft was about his mobility and I think he lost weight to be more mobile, but Edey needa to hit thw weights. No use being big if you getting pushed around
What people forget about Zach Edey is that he has only been playing organized basketball for seven years. He never played anyone his size and strength in college. This game, as well as the game against Anthony Davis, are the first times he’s ever played someone in his own league physically and skill wise since he’s reached this level. I fully expect both him to adjust, and for the point and shooting guards to find him looks in HIS spots when he’s playing against this caliber of centers. Every one of the entry passes to him last night looked like it was dictated by the defense, and wasn’t going to be successful, based on what I saw from him at Purdue. Going forward, I expect Edey to get better in those uncomfortable positions, or do a better job of passing out of them for a quality shot and an assist. I also expect Ja to figure out where and when he should be using Zach more effectively. Both of those just take reps, and frankly, he hasn’t had enough of them yet.
This stat stands out of our current 20-10 record, we are 8-7 in the West. So we have been feasting on the East, except for the Nets. Most teams behind us have played many more conference teams and have winning records. As we begin to play conference more conference games, we will see where we truly stand. January will be a very interesting month. I would love for us to win 60% or more of those games.
I love the Grizzlies but very frustrating game. They have way too many turnovers! If they can’t handle the speed then they need to slow it down and make better decisions.
I said at the beginning of the season saying let's see where we are after 30 games. If you said 20 and ten and 2nd/ 3rd in the conference, I would have been happy! With that being said, I believe we are a good team in a good spot. Every loss seems like a learning experience that the team can use to get better. Could we get better with a trade or two? Certainly! But ultimately, our success and failure falls on the shoulders of our big three. When they are bad against teams,no role player can save us! Ja has to cut the crazy turnovers and all the complaining. His body language sometimes is awful. Jaren has been consistent but his efficiency has been slipping. Dez seems to be coming on and finding his groove. If these 3 can all get it together at the same time, we're talking championship! They basically missed a whole season playing together and it shows sometimes, especially against good/ physical teams. I believe they have the desire and the ability to get there but it may not be this season. I sure do hope it is but I've tapered my expectations a bit. They can do it, if the learning/ growing curve is quicker than that of champions past!
I dont really like the energy from Ja this match, yes, his decisions and shooting percentage are directly killed the game, why can't he stick with the plan and draw the defenders and pass the ball to the shooters.
@@karmaisadish you don’t understand that the game plan is to stop him. He tries to facilitate to a big but Edey will turn a scoring opportunity into a turnover.. they want to run the offense thru Des now because of his truffles but it’s affecting Ja and no one cares
Edey needs to watch every single Giannis Antetokoumpo dunk and try to replicate it over Christmas break.. when he comes back from the shoulder injuries he will be a future HOF
Zach Edey Needs A polished Post game And At least 2 face up moves to get to the basket… his offensive games is wayyyy to predictable and he be slow to get into his moves which everybody know he going to the right hook… on the other end That boy a beast on the boards and defense especially when he gets more consecutive minutes
To me, this new offense is completely ineffective against any team with a big with huge paint presence. Ive seen it against AD and now Zubac. Ja's efficiency goes down and JJJ gets in foul trouble. Edey is gonna have to be able to compete with these bigs but he has to be more efficient offensively. But i wont feel comfortable in a playoff series against teams like the lakers, clippers, twolves. And obviously teams with superstars we'll struggle against too like mavs and nuggets. I just dont feel comfortable even with home court against these west teams. But i hope Edey can improve by then, and the turnovers are stupid. 3 second calls and stepping out of bounds are unacceptable. But its only game 30 so we move
@@griergentry8777 I don’t wanna hear that.. he doesn’t separate himself from his defender when someone drives.. he doesn’t move at all.. Ja passed it into his back and Edey stil didn’t turn around.. he doesn’t want the ball, bro needs to watch Capela and Dereck Lively highlights everyday

Edey just stand there with his arms flailing
There are a few times that got our number. The Mavs, Lakers, Rockets, and Thunder. I think the biggest issue is the maturity still in this team. Ja is the main culprit. When he is struggling on offensive, he starts to force passes, 3 pointers, and tries to dunk over you. Look at what happened with Lebron. Control your emotions dude. Ja is like a hot head. Can't control his emotions, and it leads to dumb turnovers. We aint going to the finals with that type of mentality. And stop shooting the 3's. You ain't a 3 point sniper. Ja has been terrible this year. Pippen Jr actually is a better defender, and plays more smart basetball. Ja is reckless, and still a bad defender. Thats just not natural for him. We struggle when there are long power forwards, and centers. We still take dumb shots. Jaren still takes dumb fouls. We a great team, but our emotions not on point everyone! Thats a fact. This team has a lot of issues.
Ja's been playing terrible last couple of games. He had 6 turnovers! The last 2 games he has been turning over the ball and given up crucial points. If you watch all his turnovers, they all turned into points for other team. Turnovers are killing this team. If Ja can average like max 4 turnovers a game, we good. Also whenever he doesn't get the ref's call, Ja just pouts and stands there. Go run back on defense! Stop show boating after a score or dunk. He celebrates too much. Also he says he doesn't dunk? Guess what, he still jumps way too much!!! Thats why he got injured. And stop going for those big time blocks. If he lands bad, its over. Ja let me help you out. There are 3 things you need to control. 1. Stop jumping for big blocks. 2. Make easy assist, no flashy assist. 3. Stop celecbrating or complaining to the refs after a missed call. That will help us win the close games.
I don’t wanna hear about Ja turnovers when he clearly looking at Edey trying to figure out should I pass you the ball or use you as a shield but either way Edey his to disinterested to make it work.. Ja would end up with 2 defender in the paint and Edey not even close to the rim
Until they can beat the good teams in the West, which they haven't won a single game yet this season, their record does not impress me. Sloppy possessions, questionable rotation and coaching choices down the stretch seems like a common theme for this team every time they play a good West team. Smdh
@ nahhhh have him in and harden zips a few passes around and Edey cant recover in time… he plays only one side of the ball and isn’t using his size properly at all.. such a shame Jay huff isn’t popular
@ If we did right by Jay Huff tonight wouldn’t even matter cuz we know Edey sees the bench after Huff heals up but nah we gonna be in a lot more close games because Edey will drop the ball on 5 scoring chances in a row or something to demoralize the team
@ no matter how hard you defend, no body wants to go on the other side of the court and just watch you basically defend yourself by playing offense like you never seen Javale Mcgee
Edey winning all these awards and getting praise stopped him from actually working on his basketball skills.. no reason 8ft guy hasn’t dunk in a single soul this season.. my mom could stop him from dunking smh why
Ja needs to never pass Edey the ball again. He already gonna lead the league in turnovers.. Edey is the perfect mix of - I don’t want the ball and I don’t make myself open around the rim
Edey is not a finished product! Allow him and the coaching staff to develop him! I truly understand your perspective but then again I dont‼️ If you know anything about the current state of the game how we are utilizing edey has everything to do with pace and his ability to adjust to our System!!
@ dereck lively is a million times better at doing his job tho.. how can you not have hands at this level and you have a point guard like Ja.. He passed it on Edey back and Edey didn’t even turn around 🤡
@ bro idc about pace when our team breaks down the defense and you fumble it once, then you fumble it again.. now they team we were 8 points ahead on are down by 3.. that’s what Edey do
I officially don’t like Edey, was gifted height that allowed him his accolades but clearly doesn’t work on his game.. Jay HUFF opened my eyes, a real pro. I’ve seen 12 year olds with better technique..
I hated the pick at the start but I actually like edey. Just needs to get used to the speed of the game. I’m gonna give him a season before I “officially” don’t like him cause I’ve seen some great things in his game. N eats offensive rebounds. We will see tho I want to see him play a full season first
@ Edey will NEVER be a plus for what Ja can turn out to be.. the trickiest facilitator of all time.. Edey make Ja become a safe pass point guard.. Edey turns Ja amazing passes into league leading in turnovers 😭
