I remember as a little kid visiting my Aunt, she would be drinking her tea with the radio on. I always thought that she was talking back to the radio. As I got older I asked her why she did it. She said I’m not talking to the radio, it’s the voices in my head. She was diagnosed in her late 20’s. This helped me to understand what she meant even more.

I have psychosis (basically very mild schizophrenia, more paranoia than hallucinations) and the “are you there,” “hello,” and “she’s looking quick look away,” made my blood run cold. My audio/visual hallucinations are not consistent like in the video (plus im on medication now so it’s even more rare) and it shifts from one or two hallucinations every few days or more than two every day for a whole week. So Thank you for sharing this and making me feel like im not alone

I have this; sometimes I'll hear like a, "hey," or 'hello?' Or '(My name)?' Or something like that. It's uncommon for me to hear, though I've been in a mental health program and they didn't seem concerned. Sometimes I'll see things in my visual periphery too, but it usually vanishes when I look at it.

@Lexi_pepsie I understand that, but I think of it more of a disease because there are documented changes in the brain, that show up on a MRI, and to my son it sounds better to him than a mental illness, I take a win when you can, but that is just my opinion. My son was diagnosed as having
Paranoid Schizophrenia at 19 yrs old.
He is 31 yrs old now but last year my son cut his own throat to “prove a point” to the voices .. that he could and that he would silence them .
Thankfully ..he immediately went to seek help from a neighbor and was rushed to the hospital.
He was in surgery for 2 and 1/2 hours and they didn’t know if he would pull thru or not.. longest 2 and 1/2 hours of my life .

This is painful to hear. I don't understand why people choose to go off their medication to go back to this but I emphasize with all of you now. I have tears in my eyes as I type this. To have to go through this day & night 24/7. Then to reach out to people who say you are imagining it. I was going to say for younger people it must be terrifying but I'm sure it's terrifying to everyone. I understand better the people who do horrifying things to innocent people now, such as eating them, attacking them, etc. Not that I approve or endorse it. I don't even know what word to use because they aren't only doing these horrifying things because they think that that is what the voices want or it will make the voices leave. 1min & 26sec has just opened my eyes to a whole new misunderstood mental health condition and gives me a new perspective on a terrifying battle they go through hourly, daily, & through their lifetime. I will help in my own little corner by praying. My heart goes out to ALL of the schizophrenic sufferers.

    Great representation!
The gravely voices are not my experience with audible hallucinations and that’s what makes it so difficult to figure out what’s real and what isn’t for me.
All the voices for me are voices of people I’ve met or similar enough even if they’re in a completely different state or country.
But the laughs and the spontaneous repetition are similar, although a lot of times it is entire phrases or sentences or words someone has actually spoken but my brain has twisted around to say horrible things about me (mostly) or someone I care about.
For me the repetition usually doesn’t repeat quite as quickly as this excellent example. It can be several in a minute, or minutes or even hours apart.
    Thanks for making this!

Have you heard about the “aberrant salience” theory of hearing voices?
Salience is basically a measure of how relevant to our survival our brains deem some stimulus to be.
This model theorizes that maybe the reason people with schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, and even borderline can AUDIBLY HEAR voices could be due to wonky wiring or chemical pathways assigning such high salience/importance to the person’s own thoughts, that the brain literally upgrades the input to something that feels as though it’s being heard with the actual ears.
So it’s like… if thoughts are a 1-5 on the sensory input survival relevancy scale, and maybe intrusive thoughts - the ones that feel like they’re assaulting your mind.. - are 5-7, then auditory hallucinations would be 7-10+.
Read about it if you want! I found interesting because I did experience a few “foreign” thoughts during a period of depression - but they weren’t literally heard outside my head. It was this really negative narrative “voice” that threw out comments like “yeah sure you’ll just screw it up like you always do!” But I think it was prompted by a vitamin I’d started taking, so i could tell it FELT foreign/out of place. The rest of my lines of thought metaphorically froze, turned, and collectively said “nah we don’t do that here” Hah. Anyways, the salience model makes sense to me, after having those thoughts that FEEL like they’re from someone else, but without the delusion aspect (ie I know it was still me).

    • @DannyD-lr5yg
      @DannyD-lr5yg 8 місяців тому +2

@@lacedjunglejuice I mean, there are different types of “voices”! For example, I have multiple different monologues in my head, at different times. But they’re all me! This type of “hearing voices” is normal for many, many people.
The one time I heard a different type of voice, it actually WAS more like an intrusive thought. That’s how I knew it was different :)
And then at the extreme end, some people literally hear real, audible voices that sound indistinguishable from a person speaking to them. I haven’t heard those, thankfully.

This is an interesting one. I’ve only had auditory hallucinations a few times (so, not schizophrenic), and they were clear as a bell. But having spent time in psych wards talking with my fellow patients, my understanding is that the voices are often not clear. I have experienced auditory hallucinations more times that I could count but one aspect about auditory hallucinations that a lot of people don’t know is that there are 2 different kinds of auditory hallucinations, the kind that sounds like voices are actually in your head and the kind that sounds external like you’re actually hearing someone talk (not inside of your head). I’ve always experienced the external auditory hallucinations and it’s terrifying. I used to be a meth addict and the drug + no sleep would trigger or intensify the auditory hallucinations. It got to the point where I thought I was a targeted individual and being attacked by the government and that they were using voice to skull (V2K) & directed energy weapons (DEW) weapons to induce insanity. I’m now clean & have been for 8 months and realize that it was just the drugs but even after I got clean I would still hear the voices for several months afterwards. Now I don’t hardly ever hear anything that isn’t real anymore. I wouldn’t wish what I’ve went thru on my worst enemy, it was hell.

I smoked for seven years and just stopped 5 days ago after my second break with reality. they were about a year apart from eachother, both times I was high but these were very violent and terrifying experiences that I was 100% convinced Were real until I eventually go to sleep wake up and realise they were not, should I seek medical help or will these hallucinations just never appear if I don’t smoke again? side note I’m also worried I may be genetically predisposed to schizophrenia as my nana believes she is able to contact the spirit plane and feel the emotion of dead people. Now every once and a while he smokes his hallucinations are triggered, but the point of the story is I believe that hallucinations can be brought out by marijuana, the conclusion I came to with my family member is there’s certain strains that trigger those hallucinations when he smokes

I had intense audio, visual, and tactile hallucinations for about 10 - 12 years, a result dropping a shit ton of acid and ecstasy from age 13 - 14ish. The auditory hallucinations were nearly identical to this, accompanied by shadowy masses, miserable full color abominations, and sometimes, what I could only only describe as a recurring dinosaur-spider hybrid that would follow me almost always, growling at me how worthless I am, that I would become a god if I killed myself. I'd often "go flying" off my bed and have scratch marks on my thighs and chest in shape of what I thought were claws. But, obviously, nope. Hospital observation showed me grabbing and gouging myself, to hurl myself off the bed. About 12 years of intense therapy and antipsychotics have me to a fully stable, independent adult. I still get some mild stuff - whispering, chanting, shadowy beings staring from far away or tentacled shadow blobs darting up the walls at corners of my vision. But they're VERY infrequent and techniques I learned through treatment help them disappear almost instantly.
Don't take heavy amounts of hard psychedelics multiple times a week, kids.

Mind control, has definitely different levels.🙄 Induced differently chemically, tv, radio, weather and frequencies. Asian cultures call it unbalanced spirit, lucky they have various ways to calm the spirit(mind) thru acupuncture, acupressure and herbal mixtures, also is a great idea to detox.Thank you for sharing🙏
