Honestly, I think I don't have an internal monologue because of this, I think it broke and disappeared early on.

Lucky you! My 2 brothers (23y/o and 15y/o) have ADHD and I'm (21y/o girl) still trying to get diagnosed, but I'm certain I have it. I'm also certain my Dad (63y/o) has it, but he's completely unaware and keeps blaming my Mum's genes. He's incredibly hard to talk to about these types of things, doesn't have good knowledge about it, and isn't open minded in the slightest way, which makes it even harder to cope. It really surprises me how he can be so unaware of his OWN self and how he hasn't realised, all these years, that he is slightly different to other people. Did he never notice the barriers/struggles at school? At work? At home? I don't know how he hasn't picked up on it. And worst of all, he has ZERO empathy for us when we just CAN'T help but being the way we are. Forgetful, distracted, etc. Honestly, consider yourself extremely lucky!!

In actuality, i think you could've shown this better on video. When you lose focus, you start to drift somewhere else, thinking of something else, while everything is blurry, people around you that speak start to sound like they're speaking non-sense, and soon, the more you drift away from anything, the blurrier sounds become and so does your vision.
This happens allot, allloooot. And i think i described the best i could. Also once you come back from the drift, be it some dopamine that gets you back, like a familiar sound to something you like, or someone calling your name out, it will switch you back to reality, but ofcourse not for a long while...
Edit: no criticism here, i was just showing how this video could show the effects of adhd even better. 😊

I love this type of videos, i was diagnosed about two monts ago with ADHD, and my god having ADHD is truly a struggle. My mom often makes me feel bad about it, and I know its hard from their point of view but I also wished they could understand our situation. ADHD feels like getting called out for everything and I dont even know how to put it on words but it´s a nighmare!, lately ive noticed that my self steem is low and mainly because of that I just feel like everyone has to say a bad thing about me when Im really trying my best. Also neurotypicals minimizing ADHD saying that everyone has it or a least a bit of it. When that is not the reality, I wish I had their privileges and didnt had SUCH bad time management , didnt procastinate even the most simple task, could focus more easily, hold a normal conversation with someone and make eye contact at the same time, or didnt multitask that at the end of the day means that i didnt do any of them, didnt, being so forgetful and finding myself interrumpting people. In the other hand, i dont think ADHD is necessarily a bad thing, i belive its more of a neutral kind,, but in a neurotypical world we often feel like shit.

Upon seeing this video, I went up to my mom and expressed to her that I think I have ADHD. She literally looked at me and said, I quote, “You are just realizing this now?”. Thanks mom.

I know right, Im scared to tell my mom I have adhd bc I never knew about this, I thought it was normal or me being careless and stupid. Her answer is most likely, “No you dint have Adhd, Your just out of you’re mind.” Like.

@@clatyra2473 i was talking to my friend about how i had all these issues in class and she told me i might have adhd/add. i brought it up with my parents and at first all they said was “no you don’t, your just lazy” eventually after a lot of convincing, and mainly talking to my mom, i got an appointment with my doctor and i was diagnosed. the best thing you can do is just try, it’s not easy but it’s worth a shot.

Wow. I wish it was that way with me. XD
My family doesn't really seem to know much about ADHD, despite the fact that it's obvious both my mom and grandma have it. Neither of them have been diagnosed, and neither have I, and it's horrible. I hate feeling like I'm making excuses. But at least I understand myself and them a little better, now that I've learned about it!

Ah, guys I really feel for all of you. I didn’t get diagnosed until I was 27. Had some painful conversations with my family after that. Maybe if you guys are at school and have a teacher you trust at school you could tell them and ask if you can see someone at school about it? Then maybe the school could go to your parents about it - they might take it seriously if it came from someone ‘official’.

I don’t want anyone to feel bad or think i am trying to make you feel bad, I just want to say it’s very VERY relatable, im only 11 years old and it’s so hard to do anything, if I tell my parents that I think I have adhd they just go “well then we probably need to take you to the doctor or get a therapist” and I just don’t want to, almost nobody understands me or takes me seriously and I don’t want help from a therapist or doctor, when I go to school I always click my fingers on the desk and fiddle with anything I can find. It makes it so hard to do anything because nobody understands, I’m not even 100% sure I have adhd and I don’t want to express my feelings to anyone afraid I have to do something I don’t want to do. I know I talked a lot but it feels like a good moment to express my feelings, thanks for reading this message if you even did.

This Is actually very accurate, I mean, not 100% like it is for me, but that's expected because it differs case by case.
Very well done, captured something that is sometimes considered difficult to portray or understand.

    "Im trying"
    "No. No you're not"
this part hurts. because it's so true that nobody else can see how hard you're trying so they don't believe you are. it hurts when you try your very best but people only seem to notice your shortcomings.

I absolutely relate to hyper fixating on hearing something stressful which was nicely expressed through the “If you can focus for the next half hour” bit. It really feels like your brain is just replaying hearing those words that fill you with the dread of “I want to make this person proud but I don’t know if I can.”
