Melissa, occasionally the drawstring of your hoodie makes contact with the toilet--sometimes with toilet surfaces that have just been sprayed with cleaner. I suggest that you not wear a hoodie having a drawstring or that you tuck the drawstring into the garment so that it does not dangle and risk contact with dirty surfaces. That said, your video was very helpful. Thanks! Cheers,
Generally, I find your videos helpful. Lots of great ideas. For example, reusing toothbrushes for cleaning fits my philosophy of reusing and it works. I use a pipe cleaner to go under the rim of the toilet. It was amazing what was there. I also used a brush that cleans tiles to go further down the toilet again shocked at what was there. Also after I have cleaned my toilet I give another squirt of toilet cleaner in the bowel and leave it overnight
How do you wash the rubber gloves you use after the job is done? How do you wash dirty cloths and rags after cleaning is done? Do you just throw into the washer and dryer with the rest of the laundry? Ughhh
Thank you for another great video. I think everyone (I know I do) periodically needs a refresher on the best/fastest way to clean areas in our home. A while back, I purchased the enzyme cleaner that you recommended. BEST purchase I've ever made. I live with 3 males and ladies we all know what that means - LOL. The Biokleen Bac-Out Stain and Odor Eliminator is the best!!! I'll NEVER be without it
I wouldn't use that much unless the toilet bowl hasn't been cleaned in a while and or there is hard water/mildew/crud. But definitely apply it under and around the rim. About an oz. Or two should be enough.
In public, I wipe the toilet seat off to make sure it's dry and to give me a chance to see if it's dirty. After that, I just sit on the toilet without a cover. I find that when I cover the seat, the paper often slides out of place or breaks when I sit down, so it doesn't actually provide much of a barrier. Plus, some ends up on the floor and then I have to pick it up. And I find that the floor is often more gross than the toilet seat. Eeeew!
[sorry for bad english] I will add from myself: in your video, you hold the handle of the brush vertically, you can't get under the rim with such a brush. But you can hold the handle almost horizontally when cleaning under the rim, then the brush will get deeper under the rim.
Why the general cleaner step if you're going to use an enzyme cleaner or disinfectant? Can't you cut out a step since these are more efficient de-grossifyers than water with a tiny bit of Dawn in it? I've got ADHD and live with a boy. I need max anti-grossification in the least amount of steps!
Great video. Do some of that, but you taught me more. My biggest question is, how do you clean the toilet brush? Look forward to hearing back from you. Payty
I put some toilet bowl cleaner w bleach into the holder and set the brush down into it like that. But as far as cleaning the brush, I don't. Instead, I replace it every few months.
I never use good paper towels. I have tons of T shirts and the like which I cut up into small pieces and use them for rags and just throw them out after use. Those clothes were headed to the garbage bin anyway, might as well make one more good use of them. No need to buy paper towels and clothes for cleaning.
My mom always did the folded TP in public restrooms, but I don't do it anymore because the biggest germ carriers on the body are your hands. However, I try to avoid public restrooms as much as possible.
I make enzyme spray by crushing a dishwasher tab and putting it in a spray bottle with hot water to dissolve. A dishwasher tab doesn't cost much, has enzymes, and I moved to Australia and can't find the cleaning products I'm used to here.
So many public toilets now come with toilet seat “liners” that I don’t really worry too much about going. That said, my mother taught me to squat over public toilets to pee. That worked for most of my life; however, now that I’ve reached my golden years (77), I can no longer manage that. 😢
For public restrooms, I toilet paper the heck out of it! 😂 My mom did for me too. She even would just hold me over the toilet when I was little enough so I wouldnt touch anything 🤣
Very informative because of the complete explanation why All Purpose Cleaner, then the toilet bowl cleaner each need time to act before wiping away, and how two cleaners together can create toxic gases if ammonia or bleach is an ingredient.
at public restrooms, I've been taught that the toilet rim is actually cleaner than you think. it's meant to make bacteria not stick to it when you sit down in the first place and papering it up can actually make it worse since there is bacteria on the paper that actually sticks and ends up on you. so what I do is that if I see there is any kind of liquid on the rim, I take a bunch of toilet paper and just wipe that area clean, then sit down.
I never could get the toilet paper to stay around the rim, so I simply wipe it down with toilet paper before using and hope for the best 😂. I do this even if it looks ok because I’ve learned the hard way.
@@zaraheart i mean it takes 2 seconds and makes using a public toilet way more pleasant. just put a glove on, wipe the seat and maybe the rim and you're done.
Please forgive my changing the topic but I just discovered this channel and have a ( for me) a BURNING question. Is there a reasonably easy way to clean electric baseboards? There are so many videos but as I looked I didn't see that covered. I find them daunting they seem to attract dirt INSIDE them.
Absolutely no raw dogging on public toilet seats, ever. 🤢 Stoop or line the seat with toilet paper. This is what I was taught and have gone on to teach my kids. 😁
I always carry Lysol wipes in my purse and wipe off the seat before sitting on a public toilet. Thank you for teaching a basic video on how to clean a potty.

I always use the Maker's way since I learn it from your first video about. Pass to my family, my mother love it too, and I teach even to my boys and girls scouts how to properly easy clean a toilet! Thank you for teach this stuff. 😘
Thanks for the video, just wish my toilet looked like yours. Upwelling have well water, and I’ve only found one thing ever that would some what get that darn black ring off the toilet. It was a FINE drywall screen, with vinegar and baking soda, let that sit and then use the screen. It was a 3M product which I cannot anymore anywhere 😢 No matter how I clean it, still looks unclean. So instead of getting upset, I’ve just say it’s GOOD ENOUGH.🤷♀️Even though still embarrassing!!
I use 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper on the black rings. That might work for you. The sandpaper can be found in the paint department at the hardware store.
I clean my toilet every week, so I don’t need to scrub it. A few paper towels and a quick brush around the inside bowl and voilà…I have a clean toilet 🚽 I learned this from you of course. I used to use reusable microfiber cloths to clean my toilet 🚽 for years until watching your videos. It makes sense to use something you toss in the trash because I never felt comfortable placing those rags in my washing machine. Sometimes I’d be so disgusted I’d take them to the laundromat instead. 🥹🙃🙂 👩🏽. I have learned so much from watching your videos. I actually like cleaning my toilet 🚽 now. 😌🙂😃 💛
@@Peridot07 I use Bar Keepers Friend. And then I drop 10 drops of lemon essential oil in it so it’ll smell clean. Sometimes I use orange essential oil.
When it comes to public tolet 🤢 I always cover a seat with tolet paper or seat cover provided. You can get MRSA from public tolet!!! And not knowing what exact germs on it...I always cover the seat. Thanks for your video, Melissa!
To answer the question at the end, I used to toilet paper the seats at public bathrooms. Now, I purchase disposable seat covers in bulk from Amazon and make sure to keep them in my bag/purse. I mainly started using them after I had my daughter and was potty training her while traveling. The TP method wasn’t working well bc they kept sliding off and most public restrooms on the road aren’t always equipped with disposable covers so I started bringing my own.
I’m curious about what enzyme cleaner you use. I clean houses for elderly clientele and I don’t like using strong scents or chemical laden cleaners. Thank you for all your great videos
I used to use the toilet paper, but now I just wipe it and maybe grab a paper towel to spread some hand sanitizer on it if I'm feeling that way. I figure there's probably a lot worse points of contact out there and nobody's eating off my ass anytime soon 😅😔
I usually don't have time to put down the toilet paper, (I am slightly incontinent.) I taught my children as well... Now that I'm always in a rush I am the one who wipes down the seat "after" I go! LOL
Do you know how to get rid of iron stains? We have a well and before the water treatment system was installed, the water turned the toilets orange. I have gotten rid of most but not all the stains with iron off. Thanks,

Why can’t you just use a chlorox wipe to clean the outside of your toilet and disinfectant on the inside?

When it comes to public tolet 🤢 I always cover a seat with tolet paper or seat cover provided. You can get MRSA from public tolet!!! And not knowing what exact germs on it...I always cover the seat. Thanks for your video, Melissa!
My most embarrassing encounter, I had with an elderly toilet winan. 🥵🥵 Can you feel with me ??
I like these longer cleaning videos! A lot of for example tiktok videos are short and doesn’t show every stroke
Biokleen
I squat in public! Staying as far from the toilet as I can!
Thank you for the enzyme cleaner link-I had no idea which of the millions to choose.
I use that brand and it's wonderful.
"Opportunity to explore the toilet in all it's glory" ?!! LOL
Neither; I stand up lol
I love your outfit ❤ thx for the toilet 🚽 cleaning routine Melissa ❤
This was helpful information. Thanks.
Many people need to watch this that are so nasty glad I was trained from my mother at home and carried it thru to cleaning business.
Thanks,
Someone earlier mentioned Iron Out. Maybe a pumice stone made for toilets
