Three 4K cameras in the studio and Jamie managed to miss every single time David performed this trick for Joe and for the cameras (he did it multiple times upon request). God dammit, Jamie, this is literally one of those "you had one job" things.

Grew up watching his street magic special, he’s a special cat. Most of his tricks are just tricks but the dedication this man has for his talent is something we should all inspire to have!
I went through a magic phase as a kid and people like Joe were the worst. Doing a trick (or move) more than once for someone basically ruins some of its effect even if they still can't figure out how it's done exactly. I imagine that's likely the reason why David Blaine was apprehensive about repeating the demonstration for Joe. I totally get it if someone is impressed and genuinely curious about how something seemingly impossible works but unless the magician or performer is specifically offering to teach you something you should never pester them about it afterwards. Best thing to do if you're actually interested in learning is to ask him/her to teach you a different trick you can do for your own friends/family.
Part of the illusions are in what he says. There’s no rule that says he can’t lie. For example: ‘I never use a trick deck’ is a lie but once you hear it you don’t look for answers using a trick deck. You try to figure out how he’s doing a card trick with a regular deck. He’s not. On his specials he will say ‘ I don’t use camera tricks’ so you stop looking for them. Hint : he does. Chris Angel does the same thing. Footage of lots of actors saying ‘there no crane or anything’ later on you will think you saw above his head in the shot and saw for yourself a levitation without a giant crane above his head. But you didn’t see that.
Years back I obtained a book by David that showed a number of tricks with a deck of cards, among all of the other skills that magicians perform. I was mastering each one, but they began to become harder and harder. Too hard, in fact. You appreciate how hard David works to master his illusions. I figured that for me to master those tricks that I got stuck on would take thousands of hours of practice for me to do one or two of his more complex illusions. I cannot do slight of hands. The greats can move around cards so quickly and technically that you don’t see that the card he just put in the middle of the deck he had done a slight of hands and he actually put the card on top. But, there is no way to see this.
