David Blaine and Criss Angel were my childhood and so was learning/performing street magic so I remember exactly what went down:
When Criss Angel’s Mindfreak blew up, everyone was hooked (including me). If was fresh, cool and magic we’ve never seen on the streets. Ppl started jumping bandwagon from Blaine camp to Angel’s. However the moment I started to lose respect was when Angel would randomly attack Blaine in radio interviews, make fun of him, etc. Hence the “aggressiveness” that Angel so lightly put. He even dressed up as Blaine in an episode of Mindfreak and it was offensive imo.
Mindfreak then became more about what motorcycles Angel owned and his mansions, etc and it was less about good magic so I stopped watching. The staged tricks were ridiculous and horrible.
I don’t blame Blaine for not wanting a picture with him, at least he didn’t talk shit in return. Blaine’s always been the class act in all of this.
P.S. Btw, Blaine invented street magic for television and inspired ppl like Criss Angel, Derren Brown, Cyril Takayama, Dynamo, etc….so who stole from who again?
