Using surgical tubing for a spring is genius. Looks like you are using a detent instead of a trigger. Does it just catch a little on the rear of the slide?
It's actually just a very flexible metal spring. No surgical tubing. Eventually, after some years, it would degrade and lose elasticity. A spring, not so much. And no detent. No catch.

Just the right amount of tension at the set point. I didn't include a hook/latch like Bickle did. Mine operates by having tension on the slider between two metal pieces bent inwards, just enough to hold it in place in the concealed position. A hard enough jerk of the wrist frees it from between the two metal pieces bent inwards, and the spring I attached from the arm piece to the actual slider pulls it forward.

Why? He's demonstrating it with a Colt 1908 Vest Pocket. That's the perfect gun for this. Thin, small, 6+1 shots of 25 ACP. If you go any longer with the gun (like a revolver), you would have to retract it even further back. And a derringer has only one or two shots and can't easily be reloaded without removing it from the arm brace.
