In 1992, Tharman was accused of leaking Singapore’s economic growth rate for the second quarter of that year before it was officially published. Then PM Goh Chok Tong was very angry when the incident happened. He said he would not tolerate the illegal disclosure of sensitive or classified information, adding that the government had to “nip the problem in the bud” and prevent anyone from gaining personal advantage as a result of a misuse of official information. So did pap change the rules to allow Tharman to run?
Right after Tharman said he wish for contestation, this George immediately jumps out from nowhere. Where the hell was he before Tharman ask for contestation all his life? Hello, is there a connection between George and PAP. Can they stop all this wayang ur not?
Tharman has the world standing. He has held high positions in world organizations especially the IMF. He has worked with world leaders. That will give him easy access to the world leaders. He can open doors for our entrepreneurs and businessmen to foreign countries. And when Tharman meets with these world leaders he can talk sense and have meaningful dialogue with them. Today the world is faced with crisis-es - geopolitics, climate change, economy, rising rates etc. Tharman has the knowledge to hold a conversation with world leaders. We should not waste the talent. Singapore President (whether Tharman or George or whoever) does not decide on his own. He will decide on the recommendation of the PM. When Ong Teng Cheong was our President he wanted to know how the government spend our CPF money etc. Did hie get what he wanted?
@@uUwUu69 Agree he should be the PM. However if he is not able not because of his qualification, experience than the next best is to be President. I also believe with his experience in governing Singapore he can provide guidance to the 4G ministers.

齐国先齐家, if this man is unable to manage his company properly treating his staff with respect. Do u think he will respect SG citizen. Certain charity work was done for PR stunt. No OT & weekend pay or off in lieu, taxi claim even working until 10am, wages deducted for being late. 15min =1/4 day wages deduction, 30min=1/2 day wages deduction. What kind of employer will do such stunt?
If this is true then voting him as our President will be disastrous even if he sweared by what he said during his campaign and recent videos. In addition if any of his employees or ex-employees had faced such treatment they should step up and shared your experience. This is only fair to Tharman when his performance is public knowledge. Fair competition.
I want Tharman to be PM, not President. The govt is mistaken to think this will translate into votes for Tharman in election. Moreover i am of view that Tharman is overly qualify for President.
Article 45 of the Singapore Constitution. And in Article 45(1)(e)(i), it said that the person shall not be qualified if he has been convicted of an offence by a court in Singapore or elsewhere and sentenced to imprisonment for a term of not less than one year or to a fine of not less than S$10,000.
Its a complex path to the Presudency fr George !!! He has to be careful to ::: 1. Draw in uncommitted youngsters of all races....this is George's great hope !!! 2. Entice the oldest Malays wth careful statements like ::: "I will encourage the flowring of Malay culture, the further development of their children's education...." 3. Never antagonise the Malay + Indian Muslims... 4. Never antagonise the Hindu South Indians... 5. It is a certainty that George attracts the majority votes of Chinese professionals, NS men, students... The real problem is Chinese Senior Citizens !!! George must speak some Teochew, Hokkien, Hakka, Cantonese...

Serving from the heart is definitely not enough. Integrity and capability are equally important. That person can be from the establishment or an indep.
I am sorry to say - but his approach is wrong. From Day 1 he is campaigning that the election shouldn't be one sided. So he is indirectly insinuating that Mr Tharman who is so much loved by everyone - cant be impartial when he resigns from politics and becomes our President. But where does this idea of 'partiality' comes from? As President his role is very much restricted. He will no longer be a policy maker - but he will become the face of Singapore. He will be travelling all over the world and meeting other leaders and exchanging his thoughts and ideas and make it easy for our actual policy makers (PM, FM) to do their job. He will also hold the key to the reserve and release reserve as needed by the actual people in power. Imagine if George Goh was the President during the covid crisis and PAP requests to release the reserve to implement their policies - and the guy says no, what would happen? This is very unprecedented - In other countries this has happened and the president eventually resigned (or was pressured to resign). I believe it totally makes sense for both PM and President to be from the 'same party' because they need to work well together. I believe people need to understand that the position of president is more ceremonial. If George goh wants to change Singapore and reduce cost of living, he should join Politics. Why is he complaining when is is 63 years of age. Where was he in his 30s and 40s. He shouldn't try to change Singapore from President's seat because he can't and if he tries to by making strange remarks we will be laughed at by everyone else. I think George Goh will have a higher chance of winning if he could have convinced PAP that he is not an enemy but an ally. He has a lot of experience in business / execution and he could bring that knowledge to good use. If i was Lawrence Wong, would I want a president who will be working against me and maybe going around giving speeches about how bad the government is doing? No way. I would never let him come in, in the first place. This 4g leadership needs some adult supervision -Therman is the right person for the job. Imagine if LW comes up with a policy - therman can challenge it and LW is smart enough to listen because Therman has more experience and has been doing this for a long time, he knows that. Also i want to point out the obvious - Mr. Therman has better competency of English and Language in General. Please just go to youtube and watch any one of his videos. The way he speaks - I want to pay him money to teach me how to speak like him. He is incredible. Such a smart cookie. If I was PAP i would be sad that they are loosing such a smart person from their core leadership team. But the fact that he will still be around as president makes me happy. There will be no contest - It will be Therman all the way. George Goh is trying to win the popular vote by using his ethnicity, chinese language skill and complaining about current situation (high prices, high cost of living etc). But he never says if he gets appointed as President - how is he going to solve any of them? He can't! If he really cares - he should join politics.

Increasing the fine doesn't help anyone and only hurt Tharman. What are you trying to say
@@dannyboy.0911 without checking the facts, i think he is explaining that there was a rule that if you were fined more than 2000 SGD for breaking the law, you cannot run for president. However, this was increased to 10K recently. However Tharman was only fined 1500... so this might not be relevant.

i wonder if the kids will speak...they will really help to connect with the younger generation. hope he qualifies, i have concerns that he emphasised his roles as founder and shareholder of these companies but not CEO. if he never held CEO at the time any of these companies had 500M shareholder equity then his qualification status will not be automatic but instead fall under deliberation of the Presidential Election Committee, which ahem...i won't say more. all the best to Goh.

So did pap change the rules to allow Tharman to run?
mr. T will just be another rubber stamp of the ..... GahM🤑n.
Tharman was cleared of wrongdoing in the courts. You mean in his 22 years in politics, you feel that is an issue now?

Did hie get what he wanted?
tharman should be a prime minister and not a president...

If this is true then voting him as our President will be disastrous even if he sweared by what he said during his campaign and recent videos. In addition if any of his employees or ex-employees had faced such treatment they should step up and shared your experience. This is only fair to Tharman when his performance is public knowledge.

What you mentioned is actually for MPs. Not sure if it applies to the Elected President which comes under a different Act.
Ting for our young peepur
Its a complex path to the Presudency fr George !!! He has to be careful to :::
1. Draw in uncommitted youngsters of all races....this is George's great hope !!!
2. Entice the oldest Malays wth careful statements like ::: "I will encourage the flowring of Malay culture, the further development of their children's education...."

Obviously a PAP shill, thus guy !!! You however have my deep respect for your detailed points, your conviction, your love fr Singapore !!! Kudos 1000 X....
